This is a great show, although I like the traditional ending better... it will please almost anyone. Great artwork - I must admit I didn't care for the new noses at first, and the main girl is less than your typical "cute anime girl", but it is wonderful. It incorperates computer graphics into it as well...
Story goes that a young schoolgirl has a crush on a track star in her school - she too loves running - she is also into Tarot cards and her family has a strong connection to the spirit world, she has "visions" of the future... One night she asks the boy to time her using a strange pendant that her grandmother gave her - it keeps time prefectly... anyhow, if she can make it within the proper time, she asks that he be her "first kiss" - she begins to run when an opening to another dimension appears and brings a young warrior through with a dragon - to make a long story short - she ends up transporting back to his world with him - and sees the Earth as their moon. She aids the young man with her ability to see the future, as he struggles to avenge and rebuild his land which he lost to the empire.... who also want his mech - the Escaflowne -- the young king and the girl begin to gather allies as the empire sweeps the country in secrecy to find Escaflowne - to achieve it's own evil purposes.
