RUROUNI KENSHIN 3D FIGHTER....

OVERALL RATING: 9 - non anime: 7

Do not get me wrong on this - I love the game, but I think it is more due to it being "Kenshin" than as a 3D fighter... if you look at the year the game was actually made, 1996 - you begin to understand that at the time, this game was preety good. The game has aged, but it holds up well. The backgrounds are the "sore" area - it follows a Tekkan setup - infinite floor with a background pic blended-in. The background does have poly-pop-outs like a staircase or something, but they do lack in the looks dept. The characters look pretty good - they managed to cover-up the seems pretty well - arms and legs are solid - pretty decent, the spots that are not covered well are hands - being your general cubical, and the faces - they steer away from showing the character's faces in great detail. They actually did a decent job on the faces, but don't be surprised if you don't get close-ups of their faces. Saitoh has a bit of a problem in the polygonal world, his stance was too hard to do - all-in-all they did a great job considering, if he were in his stance, he would take up half the screen. If you crouch with him he looks pretty decent though.

Gameplay - it's pretty acceptable, I think more effort could have gone here, the characters - although their moves fit fairly close, do leave things desired... Aoshi is basically the boss here - they opted to make him very quick - Kenshin is actually rather slow in general - I think we all know that Kenshin is not slow. A jump attack would have suited Kenshin as well - remember how many times you saw Kenshin jump above his opponent in the show??? Anyhow - they could have kept Kenshin's guard ability lower, but make him quick - when he is knocked down - it could take him longer to get up than some others - along with an air attack. This may have suited him better.

The cut scenes are great - a very nicely done game in general - more of an anime/fighter collector game than a fighting game. It has it's challenges - it is actually harder to win than in Tekkan, which makes it a lasting title - you have limited moves, and guarding is not very easy - you actually have to "fight" rather than just pull off a mega-10 hit combo super death blast.

Here are your main characters to choose from...

This game is really COOL!!!!! I can barely play it, I cannot understand a single word - the people in the town do me no good what so ever, but it is a really cool RPG!!! I am hoping someone out there may help me on this game a bit - if anyone has a walkthrough, knows where one is - please let me know - I may not be able to fumble my way through this...

It has a wonderful opening - the backgrounds are very nice - characters are Super-D Kawaii - they town is huge, but why is the dojo the biggest building, I thought they were fairly poor???? ^_^

Hard to do a review, The plot is that you do not play as Kenshin - you play as one of two ninja, female/male - seems that you have amnesia - you bump into someone in Tokyo, they want a fight - Kenshin steps in and runs them off, I palyed the girl - so, she gets frightened by Kenshin and his questions and runs off... where Kenshin goes??? Don't know - I never saw him again after that - you end up at the dojo with Kaoru and Yahiko - there is a brawl - I believe they join with you since you are being attacked - yet remember nothing, they wish to help you find out waht's going on. The details of why your character was attacked??? Don't know - speculate that you are a remaining member of a clan that lived in a town that was attacked and burned in the intro.

Like I said - really cool - if anyone can help, please drop me an Email, like I said - I can't even figure out how to save - I know Megumi apparently heals you if you talk to her.
