It was early next morning when the sun poured into the tent, waking its inhabitants. Ben/Cajava woke up first, and yawned, stretching his/her arms. S/he got up, and headed outside, where a reath of fresh air was enough for a full awakening. Karuko followed her, and three Pokémon were next as Vice, Volcano and Haunter walked out. "What a beautiful momrning!" said Karuko. Vice, however, sniffed, and started looking around edgily. Volcano and Haunter quickly followed suit. Ben/Cajava immediately knew something was wrong.
"Better get ready, I think we're being watched!" Bothe persons and Pokémon got into a ready stance, and glanced in as many directions as possible. Suddenly, Karuko noticed a tail appear in the tall gras surrounding the tent. "Over there!"
Ben/Cajava saw another on her left, as did the Pokémon. Tails started popping up everywhere. Suddenly, a Pidgey burst out of the grass, but a paw flew out, snatched the bird and pulled it under. the grass started thrashing wildly as the Pidgey screamed out. Then, there was silence.
"I don't like this." A rustle in the bushes came from nearby, and a Caterpie crawled out, looking very bruised. Vice ran over, grabbed the bug, and brought it over to Ben/Cajava, who supplied a Potion. "Poor thing! What's in those bushes?"
The answer came in the form of a yellow/orange streak which appeared, grabbed the Caterpie, and disappeared. "Nuts! I wanted that bug!" said Ben/Cajava. Another yellow-orange streak appeared and zoomed past Karuko. A snippet of her hair fell down to the ground.
"Ahhh! That could have been my head! Volcano! Burn down this grass with your Flametherower!" Volcano complied, and when the smoke settled, a group of six very mean-looking Meowths appeared. In the head was a Persian, black as the night itself. Above both its eyebrows and on its right cheeck were scars. It's tail was half as long as a regular Persian, indicating that it was very battle-weary. It did not look friendly at all. "Peeeerrrrrsaaiiiiinnn!" it cried out. It followed this up with a bunch of various Pers and Sians.
"Pinsir pinsir pins. Pinsir pin sir." Vice translated.
"What did the Persian say?" asked Karuko.
Ben/Cajava grimaced. "This isn't good. According to Vice, this female cat is known as Tarquin, and she's a wild Level 100 Pokémon. She accumulated those scars and lost half her tail during a battle with Mewtwo himself. The Persian has also been attacked by Pokémon Trainers of all kinds, and has developed a hatred for humans that no Pokémon, not even Mewtwo, can equal. You heard of Meowth, the talking TR Pokémon? Well, Tarquin has developed some skills of her own. Oh yeah, she also maxed out on all four Pokédrugs after an attack on a group of TR members a few years back."
Tarquin growled, and its jewel started glowing yellow. She leaped into the air and brought down a Thunder attack on Haunter, frying the Ghost- type. Haunter collapsed, eyes spinning. Karuko sweatdropped. "I see what you mean, Cajava....er, Ben.... whatever." Volcano, despite seeing what tarquin did to the Haunter, walked up to the cat and growled. Tarquin answered back, and received a Flamethrower. Unfortunately, it did little against the Maxed-out Persian. Tarquin got even madder, and proceeded to Slash Volcano, and followed it up with a Payday. Coins smashed into Volcano, and the fox fainted. Vice's eyes went wide when it saw a giant beam of light come its way. Wham! A Hyper Beam crashed into Vice, sending it smashing into a nearby rock. Tarquin turned from the bug and faced the two trainers. She screamed, and the Meowths leaped out and started to descend onto Ben/Cajava and Karuko. Botyh screamed, then everything went white. Next thing both knew, they were in another area of the field, surrounded by a sextuplet of Abras. Tarquin turned, and looked very mad that breakfast was taken away from her.
"Gulp! We have to get out of here! Abras, Teleport!" Karuko was a little slow with the order, and a Hyper Beam took out three Abras, while a combined Pay Day attack from the cluster of Meowths got the rest. "Ulp! Run!" both trainers recalled the Pokémon, and started to dash down Route 24, which seemed longer than usual. Following them was Tarquin and the Meowths, and they were gaining ground fast. Finally, the two trainers were cornered against a wall. Tarquin growled victoriously. It seemed like curtains, when....
"Vileplume Squad, Sleep Powder!" Officer Jeny and a dozen Vileplumes appeared, and as tarquin jumped towards Ben/Cajava, Sleep powder assaulted the feline's nose. Even with his high level, Tarquin succumbed and fell short of her victim. The Meowths came next, and Officer Jenny immediately caged the beast. The Meowths were captured in Pokéballs, for transport to the Safari Zone. Karuko got up. "How come you didn't capture Tarquin as well?" she asked.
Jenny, completely oblivious to the strange boy/girl recovering from the shock of the events, answered solemnly. "It's like trying to capture Mew, Mewtwo or the Birds. For some reason, tarquin escapes every Pokéball we toss. This is the best we can do. Now we can send Tarquin to the Pokémon Island, which will keep Tarquin from bothering humans again."
Karuko helped Ben/Cajava up to her feet, then the two started the trip back to Saffron.
Time Lapse~
"I thank you two greatly. These Abra will be perfect for my students." Sabrina said as she took the Pokéballs from Karuko. "As I promised, I will put you two back to normal."
Sabrina began glowing, and once again teleported the two trainers outside. Karuko openedher eyes, and looked at her traveling companion. "Cajava, you're normal again! Well, as normal as you'll ever be! And look, we got our Pokémon and Marsh badges! Yahoo!"
Cajava, relieved to be one person again, noticed a nearby sign.
COME TO THE ST. ANNE CRUISE! GUARANTEED NOT TO SINK OR YOUR MONEY BACK! SAILING SOOON FROM VERMILLION PORTS!
"Oh, wow! A cruise ship! Let's go on it, Karuko!"
Karuko smiled. "After all we've been through, a cruise would be nice. Let's get going!" And the two dashed off as fast as they could.
Meanwhile...
"Can you please remind me why we can't use Pidgeot Airlines to send this cat to Pokémon Island? it's giving me the willies." said a deliveryman.
His partner sighed. "For the tenth time, it's too risky. if this Persian got loose, It could eat the Pidgeot and cost lives! We have to send it by boat." he stopped the car at a port, and the two got out of the truck. from the back they pulled out a sleeping black Persian. They walked towards a boat.
"Man, what a monster! I heard it almost beat the legendary Mewtwo in a battle once!" said the first worker.
"Damn it, will you forget Mewtwo? He's just a legend, there's no such thing! Let's just pack it onto the boat and get out of here! I just hope it doesn't get free of these bars."
"Well, A Machamp can't bend these bars, so I don't think the Persian will be much trouble." the deliverymen placed the cage into the ship's hold. then one stamped a message that said TO FUSCHIA. "There, the workers at Fuschia will then transfer it to a new boat that will bring the cat to Pokémon Island." Just as they left, a growl came from behind them. They turned, and saw Tarquin Slash through the bars like a hot knife through butter. One of the two screamed, but was cut off with a slash to his throat. the other ran and leaped of the boat as Tarquin feasted on the carcass, then dashed off into the streets of Vermilion and beyond, in search of a new life, and new meals....
