Ail and Ann gradually learn about love and feelings from humans, though.

In the final confrontation, the Makaiju senses Usagi's / Sailor Moon's love-filled heart awakens from its long sleep. It attacks Ail and Ann in anger for the evil things they have done. Ann sacrifices her life to protect Ail and dies from the Makaiju's attack. She tells him that she has realised that she loves him.

Meanwhile, the Makaiju asks Sailor Moon to purify it with love and uses the last of its power to revive Ann. The Makaiju is reduced to a little branch, which Ail and Ann take. They would raise this little branch in a new planet that was to be filled with love, and they set off to a bright new future somewhere in space...
