Sailor Moon episode 47Episode title: Much ado About Babysitting Canadian Air date: 11/20/95 American Air date: 11/30/95 At a kindergarten, babies played with blocks, crawled around happily, and laughed. They didn't sense the danger that was watching over them. The danger needed energy for their tree, and the babies were going to feed it. Alan and Anne were watching them, and Anne knew that the babies would be of no bother to them. Anne said, "It's perfect, Alan! All the energy we need with no fuss!" Alan told Anne to choose a card, and she did. Alan and Anne went to a building in the city, and Alan called forth, with his flute, the Cardian called Skulker. Meanwhile, at the kindergarten, a woman came to pick up her child. She picked him up, and one of the teachers at the school told her that the child had been good that day. The child's name was Jordan. The one goal on the woman's mind was to get her child to talk, and knew that she had to be patient. Just as she was leaving, Serena and Amy came by, and recognized the woman as Mrs. Winston. They said hello, then the sky changed. There was a strange aura that even Serena and Amy could sense. They looked up to the sun, and saw a form floating before it. It shouted, "Your energy is mine now! Give it to me!" Small threads shot away from the form, and grabbed hold of the babies, teachers, and Mrs. Winston. Serena and Amy were in panic, and Darien came by, telling them to get an ambulance. The ambulance rushed to the hospital in a hurry, sirens blaring. At the Doom Tree, Alan and Anne were glad. Alan said, "You picked a good card, Anne. It worked like a charm." Anne was glad for the energy, and said, "There are so many babies in this town! The Doom Tree's going to be very well fed!" Alan told Anne that they had to be careful, if they didn't want to alert the infamous Sailor Scouts. At the hospital, Amy, Serena, and Darien watched Mrs. Winston sleep. She was recovering in the intensive care ward, and Jordan was in a small makeshift crib next to her bed. Amy told Serena and Darien that Jordan had no one to take care of him. Since his mother was in the hospital, and her husband was off somewhere, Amy considered taking him in. She couldn't, because her mother was at a medical conference in Paris. Darien was looking at the child. So innocent. So pure. He could recall his youth... "I'll take care of him." Serena and Amy looked at Darien in shock. "Tell the doctors it's all taken care of." Amy reminded Darien that taking care of a baby was hard work. Jordan began to cry, and Serena looked at him. Jordan had dropped his pacifier, and Amy said that it would be hard work. Serena gave Jordan his pacifier, and Jordan thought to himself, Who's the goofball with the funny hair? Can't she see I'm hungry? Serena looked at Jordan and said, "Poor Jordan! He's probably scared from all these tubes. I'll take him to our place." "Yes, Serena." Amy said sarcastically. "You and a nine month old. You couldn't even take care of your goldfish!" Darien began to speak to Jordan in a cutesy tone, and Serena found it quite charming. At Darien's later that day, Darien was with Serena in his apartment. They were trying to take care of Jordan. He was crying loudly, and the two tried to make him feel better by making funny faces. Serena tried, and Jordan laughed. As Serena was making her faces, Darien said, "Okay, Meatball Head, you can make tracks any time!" Serena was glad to have the job of babysitting off her back. She thought, I wonder how he's going to feel after a three AM wake-up call! Serena sat on the bed, and leaned against Darien, thinking, Someday, I'll have my own happy family, just like this! She realized what she was doing, and stood up immediately. She laughed, saying, "So, Darien, where do you keep your comic books? I'll read him a story." Jordan began to cry again, and Darien surmised that maybe he was hungry. He got out some baby formula, and Serena took it into the kitchen. She began to make the formula, and poured hot water on herself, missed the bottle, etc. She emerged from the kitchen covered in the formula, with steam rising out of the kitchen, and said, "Dinner is served!" Serena tried to give Jordan the bottle, but Jordan refused it, crying. "No way." Serena said. "Nothing makes this kid happy." Darien thought that it might be too hot. Serena tried it, and said that it was good. Jordan thought, Where's my mommy? These people are totally clueless, and now, the big goofball's stealing my milk! Darien said Jordan wasn't hungry. Serena thought he had a disease. She screamed, "It could be measles, or chicken pox, or Tropical (Stropical?) flu!" Serena began to panic, and Darien told her to hand him a diaper. It was his diaper that was to be changed. Serena pushed Darien out of the way, and changed him herself. She looked in the diaper, and looked at Jordan. Jordan thought, What did you expect? I'm on a liquid diet! Jordan began crying again, and this time, when they gave him the bottle, he accepted it, thinking, Finally! This pair's a real brain trust! Serena said, "I don't get it, Darien. One minute, you're sweet as peppermint, then you see me, and you're Mr. Sour Pickles!" "Just trying to survive Hurricane Serena." Darien said. Serena tried to laugh it off, saying, "Oh, that's so funny!" She thought, First a meatball, and now a hurricane! It's not very flattering! Darien looked at Jordan drinking his milk. He said, "That's right, Jordan. Drink your milk, and you'll be big and strong! Can you say 'milk' for me?" I'm not a trained seal! Jordan thoughtfully retorted. "Oh, and here I thought you had half a brain, Darien!" Serena said, reaching for Jordan. "He's too young to talk. He's got to learn to stand up first!" Serena picked up Jordan, and tried to make him stand up. Jordan was uncertain of his footing, and fell. Serena stood him up again, and he fell. Darien said, "And you're not pushing him? He probably doesn't even know how to crawl, and you're making him walk to you. On second thought, maybe that's why he's staying put!" "Hey! I'll bet you my allowance for two weeks: He walks before he talks! So there!" Serena snapped. "You're on, Meatball Head!" Darien replied. Jordan thought, Weirdos! Serena was walking home, and was shouting out to no one. "He is the most pompous, arrogant blow hard! Who does he think he is, and why did I think I ever liked him? We've got nothing in common!" Her voice gave way into a high-pitched sound. "Nothing at all!" Serena stood on a bridge, looking into the water. She said to herself, "I know he hates me. He just won't come out and say it, because he doesn't want to hurt my feelings like that." She stared into the water. On Sunday, Luna woke up in Serena's room as she always had. She peered over the top of the bed, and said sleepily, "All right. Time to leave the sack, lazy bones." Luna was surprised to see the Serena wasn't there. That afternoon, Serena and Darien were walking home, with a lot of purchased baby goods (Hint: Look on the baby's stroller for his real Japanese name). Anne was walking, and saw them across the street. She ducked against the side of a building, looking on. She said to herself, "That's Darien. What's he doing with a baby stroller? He'd better be helping her babysit. That can't be his baby!" She was about to walk up to them, but just then, Mina, Amy and Lita came to them. "Awww, look at the lovely couple!" Mina teased. Serena reacted. "I'll give you a couple! Of black eyes, if you don't stop it, Mina!" "Don't have a coronary, Serena." Lita said. " Actually, we think it's nice of you to take care of Jordan while Mrs. Winston is in the hospital." Amy leaned in close to Serena and told her to be at Raye's for a fire reading. At the mysterious Cherry Hill Temple, Raye sat before the great fire, while the other girls watched. Raye asked the fire to tell them who the new evil was, and the fire showed the new evil. It was Cardian Skulker. Serena recognized the image in the flame. Raye said, "She'll attack again. Seems she's tuned into baby energy. But now that I know what it is, I can keep an eye out for her." "Aren't you in luck, Serena?" Mina said. " Now, you've got an excuse to be around Darien." "You know what?" Serena addressed the girls. " Since this baby's come along, there's a whole new side to Darien that I've never seen before." "But just last week," Lita said, "you said Darien was a cold-hearted, stuck up dork!" "Hey!" Serena exclaimed. "I get to talk about him that way!" She got up to leave. "Catch ya later." At Darien's, he was busy making more baby formula. A knock came at the door, and in came Anne. She exclaimed to Darien, "Hey Darien! I heard that you were on baby duty this week. And I thought that I should come help you. I'm really good with babies, you know." On the floor, Jordan was happily playing with a box of tissues. All around him was a mess of the paper. Anne picked him up telling him to stop, and Jordan began crying. Anne said, "Yeah, I know you don't like it, but you can't go messing up Darien's nice neat apartment, so it's time to shut up already!" That wasn't a very nice thing to say! Thought the baby. Boy, you're a rude one! Just for spite, Jordan began to cry again. Anne looked at him angrily, and snarled. "I'm warning you." She said quietly. In the kitchen, Darien was holding his nose, and asked Anne to change Jordan. She did, and Darien gave Jordan his food. Anne went in, saying that she was excellent with babies, and said that Jordan was the cutest baby. The whole time Anne was talking, Jordan thought, What a phony! Why can't he see through her?! Serena was coming by Darien's apartment, and saw that the door was open. She went in, and just as she did, Anne stormed out. Serena said, "So, you've found someone else to take care of Jordan." Serena began to get upset, and as she was leaving, Darien stopped her, explaining what happened to Anne. "Jordan threw up at her, and she came unglued." Serena looked at Darien hatefully. "What, is she your girlfriend?" "Of course not!" Darien replied. "What made you think that?" "You know," Serena began, her voice quivering, "I don't care if she is. I've had it with the way you treat me! I'm out of here!" Just as Serena was leaving, she looked to the baby to see him standing. The young baby began to walk. Serena and Darien looked on. "You own me ten bucks, pal." Serena said. Jordan continued his trek across the room. He stopped at the tissue box, and continued to pull them out of the box. Darien and Serena cheered, and just then, Amy came in. Serena and Darien told her what had happened, and Amy was joyous. She leaned in close to Serena and told her that the Cardian was on the move. Serena and Amy left. The babies at the pre-school were happy with their lives, as short as they were. High in the sky, Cardian Skulker appeared. She was about to take the babies' energy, when Sailor Mars, Sailor Venus, and Sailor Jupiter appeared. Sailor Venus fired. "VENUS CRESCENT BEAM SMASH!!!" The Beam missed, and the Cardian had a strategy. She trapped all the babies in small orange bubbles, and lifted them up close to herself. The Sailor Scouts couldn't do anything; the babies were too close. Skulker, in an obvious position of strength, fired at the Sailor Scouts. Meanwhile, Serena and Amy arrived, and went to help their friends. "MERCURY POWER!!!" "MOON CRYSTAL POWER!!!" Skulker was not afraid. She fired a bolt of energy at Sailor Moon and Mercury, but they dodged the blast. Then, Skulker used her blue strings that she had used earlier to drain the babies. Skulker had Sailor Moon and Mercury trapped, and was draining their energy. Just as it seemed hopeless, something flashed, and a gentle white rose was found on the ground. Looking up, the Sailor Scouts could see the Moonlight Knight. "How dare you attack the most innocent of humanity; these helpless babies! You'll pay for it, you evil parasite!" Sailor Moon and the Moonlight Knight exchanged greetings, and in the meantime, Sailor Mercury was angry. In her anger, she could not use her Bubbles. No, they would not be strong enough. She would have to punish this evil creature. "MERCURY ICE BUBBLES FREEZE!!!!!!!!!!!!!" The Cardian was encased in ice, and Sailor Moon looked to Mercury. She asked what that was, and Sailor Mercury said that it was because she couldn't stand the thought of harm coming to any more babies. Sailor Moon looked at her target. "MOON SCEPTER ELIMINATION!!!!" The Cardian was returned to its original form, and the Moonlight Knight looked on. "Excellent work, Sailor Scouts!" He said. "It looks like you might have some diapers to change! Uuuuh, I'll leave it to you!" He left. "Typical guy, but a hunky one!" Sailor Moon said with hearts in her eyes. At the hospital, Serena and Darien awaited new company. Out of the front doors came Mrs. Winston with Jordan in his stroller. Before Mrs. Winston left, Jordan looked at Darien. "Ba, Dawien." Darien gasped. Jordan looked to Serena. "Meatball Head." Jordan said good-bye again, and as Mrs. Winston went home, Darien and Serena cheered. "We're geniuses! We taught him how to walk and talk!"
