Sailor Moon episode 48Episode title: Raye's day in the Spotlight Canadian Air date: 11/21/95 American Air date: 12/1/95 At the Cherry Hill Temple, Serena and Amy arrived looking for Raye. Gramps said that she was at a place called the Autumn Festival. Serena was hoping for a sneak preview. Raye was at the main auditorium of the festival grounds, organizing a stage presentation. Two of the students walked up to her, and asked her what to do with their class booth. Raye yelled, and the two girls said that they still had questions. Raye said with a sigh, that she would help. While Raye was busy, the two girls looked at Raye admiringly. Raye said to herself, "A cat would be more helpful!" Serena and Amy came up to Raye. After exchanging greetings, Serena said, "Artemis and Luna at your service." Raye asked what Serena was talking about. "You said a cat would be more helpful." Amy handed Raye some food that Lita made, and Raye invited the two to stay for a rehearsal. Raye went out on the stage, and music began. Raye began to sing, but the spotlight shining on her changed color, and Raye said, "Followspot! This isn't a cabaret! Could you tone it down with the color?" "Cabaret?" One of the people on the spotlight asked. The other person asked Raye what 'cabaret' meant, and Raye said to take five. She walked backstage, and Serena said that the song was sounding really good. She asked who wrote it, and Raye whipped out a lot of staff paper, and said that she had written all of the songs. Serena and Amy looked in shock, and so did Luna and Artemis. "What, you don't believe I'm capable of writing music?!" Raye said angrily. Serena replied, "No Raye, we believe you." "Aren't you afraid it'll look like you're using the concert to promote yourself?" Amy asked. "So what?!" Raye replied. "I look at it this way: I'm the hardest worker here, and if it wasn't for me, there'd be no talent show!" "At least she doesn't suffer from low self-esteem" Artemis remarked. Serena laughed. "You can say that again!" Comedically enough, Alan and Anne were sitting in a tree. Their plan this time around was to take the energy from the people at the Autumn Festival. Alan said, "My mouth is watering already." He licked his lips. Anne said, "Yeah. Let's hope the Doom Tree likes this energy as much as you do." That evening at Raye's, the girls were talking. Lita couldn't wait for Raye's big singing debut, and Raye was happy because Grandpa was going to be there. Chad was going to watch over the temple. Mina said that she was proud of Raye to write all her songs on her own, and Amy said that it must have taken ages. Raye said it didn't. She explained, "I came up with the lyrics first, and that didn't take too long, 'cause you know what a whiz I am at poetry. Then, I worked out the melodies which was super fun and really super cynchy!" Raye bragged that she could do it in her sleep. Her story wasn't true that it was easy, because as she was explaining how she wrote the songs, she had remembered times during the process: A time when she was stumped, with paper balls littered about her room, and a time when she was slowly writing the music. A time when she slammed her keyboard, a time when she crumpled up a piece of paper, and a time when she cried out of frustration. Luna and Artemis had the distinctive feeling that Raye was lying. The next day was the opening of the Autumn Festival. Gramps was there, and he saw two young ladies. He walked up to them, and asked them to work at the Temple. The girls said that their school work wouldn't allow them enough time for jobs, and they went on their way. Gramps said to himself, "I bet they have all sorts of time for rollerblading and boys." Serena, Lita and Mina were walking along with Luna and Artemis. They had arrived at the fair also, and were taking in the sights. Serena was hungry (Surprise!), and Lita asked where Amy was. "Hey, where else?" Mina said. "The Chemistry and Biology booth!" Serena and her two friends went to a booth, and modeled in kimonos. Lita won a cooking contest, and the three went to see more sights. Serena was stuck in a finger trap in one booth, and Mina missed a golf swing while Artemis laughed. Amy won a love contest over Raye. While everyone was having a good time, two people were busy planning for their survival. Alan and Anne looked around and noticed that there were a lot of people at the Festival. They knew that all the people's energy would satisfy the Doom Tree, and they began to walk. Suddenly, a hand grabbed Alan, and it was a young girl, accompanied by two of her friends. The girl's friends took Anne, and the young girl asked Alan to raise his arms. He did reluctantly, and he bent down for her. She got out some measuring tape, and measured Alan's body. She had a perfect match. So did her friends with Anne. The girls began to take them somewhere, and Alan and Anne asked who they were. One of the girls introduced herself as Sarah Howe. She told them that they had organized a fashion show, and their models came down with the flu. They needed replacements. She said the theme was aliens from another planet. Alan and Anne were shocked. "How did this twit figure out who we really are?" Alan said quietly to Anne. "She must have special powers." Sarah asked the two if they were all right, and said, "Oh, I've got it now! You're one of those people who believe in little green men with antennae and weird colored hair, aren't you?" Alan denied it, and Anne was offended. The two were taken to be in the fashion show. Over the intercom, Raye made an announcement. She said that the main show was about to take place in the main auditorium. Lita said, "Raye's sure got some promotion machine, doesn't she?" "Our Raye's never been short on self-confidence!" Amy replied. Everyone assembled in the auditorium, and waited. Backstage, Alan and Anne were having second thoughts about going out on stage in the outfits they had to wear. They two were pushed out onto the stage, and the spotlight shone on them. They were dressed like aliens from a badly done space movie. The people cheered, and were building up a lot of energy, so Alan and Anne continued their little escapade. Meanwhile in the crowd, Amy recognized the two. Soon, the show ended, and an announcer came on. "Now, for the moment you've all been waiting for! Here's the star of the show, the one who organized the Autumn Festival, Raye Hino!" The crowd cheered as Raye stood up on the stage in a beautiful red dress. She said that she was having fun, and said, "You guys are so great! And because you're so great, I wrote these special songs just for you! Now, what do you say we get started?" "Oh dear!" Luna said to herself. Artemis replied to it, "She thinks she's a teen idol!" Raye began the song. "There are days when those gray skies make you blue Outside the auditorium, Alan and Anne sat in wait. Alan raised the hand of cards he had, and told Anne to choose. Anne chose Cardian Amphibia. During a musical break in the song, Raye sensed something, and Amphibia appeared overhead. The Cardian proceeded to spread dust all over the people in the crowd, and the girls hid under the seats. Alan and Anne decided that things were settled, so they went to wait by the Doom Tree. Amphibia attacked Raye, while the other girls went to help. "MOON PRISM POWER!!!!" "MERCURY POWER!!!" "JUPITER POWER!!!" "VENUS POWER!!!" Amphibia was taking Raye's energy, when Sailor Jupiter and Mercury attacked. "JUPITER THUNDER CRASH!!!" "MERCURY BUBBLES BLAST!!!" Raye was freed, and Amphibia grabbed hold of Jupiter and Mercury, draining their energy. While Sailor Moon and Venus were looking after Raye, Amphibia grabbed them too, taking their energy. Raye got up slowly. She was going to save them. "Raye!" Luna cried. "Are you sure you're strong enough?" "MARS POWER!!!" Sailor Mars appeared in Raye's place, and she freed her friends. "MARS FIRE IGNITE!!!" Amphibia was about to hit Mars when a white rose came down. It was, of course, the Moonlight Knight. "In a corner of the vast universe, there is a planet which plays a beautiful melody. It is called Planet Earth. I, the Moonlight Knight, have vowed never to let anyone destroy its eternal song! Let music and romance live on forever..." Sailor Mars called out the Moonlight Knight's name. "Sailor Mars." He replied. "I want to hear your voice sing from your heart once more." "Thank you, Moonlight Knight!" Sailor Mars said. The Moonlight Knight jumped to attack Amphibia, and just as Amphibia was about to hit Moonlight Knight, he moved, and Amphibia hit Raye's music. Raye looked at the tattered sheets littering the ground. She grew angry, and went to kill the Cardian. The Fire Ignite would not be enough. She began her powers. "I CALL UPON THE POWER OF MARS FIREBALLS CHARGE!!!" The piece of paper flew through the air. "MARS FIREBIRD STRIKE!!!" From the paper, a bird of flames appeared. It grew sentient, and flew straight and true to its target. Amphibia could only watch in shock and horror as the bird flew into her body and tore her apart. Everyone's energy had been returned, and Sailor Moon went to finish the menace off. "MOON SCEPTER ELIMINATION!!!!" Above them still, the Moonlight Knight stood, and said, "Keep a melody in your heart, and a lilt in your voice." He left. Later, when everything had been cleaned up, Raye continued her show. "In a corner of the universe, there is a planet which plays a beautiful melody." She said to the crowd. "It is called Planet Earth. My last song for tonight is called 'Oh Starry Night'." Raye began to sing. "I've waited all of my life Oh, starry night... After the show (Starry Night is still playing), Serena said to Raye that she was very good at the show. Raye said, "You know, it wouldn't hurt for you to do work one of these days, Serena!" "What's that supposed to mean?" And again, Raye and Serena fought well into the night.
