Sailor Moon episode 52

Episode title: Secret Garden

At a bookstore, Anne was watching Darien read a book. He put it on the shelf from which it came, and Anne met him. She said that she found a good book, and had to show it to a friend.

Alan and Serena were at a diner, and Serena was eating. Alan said that it was coincidence that they met (Yeah, right!). Then, Darien and Anne arrived, and both Alan and Anne were immediately jealous.

Alan and Anne came to the steps of their apartment building, and began arguing.

"So, what were you thinking?!" Alan snapped. "Hanging all over that human!"

"And what about you?!" Anne retorted. They went to see the Doom Tree, and saw that it was getting worse. The leaves were falling in sheets.

"So, if you'll just stop chasing Bubble-Head!" Anne snapped.

"Oh, and you're not fixated on Mr. Hormone?" Alan retorted. Anne sighed, and said that they needed to forget all the bickering. They both knew that if the Doom Tree went, so did they. Alan realized that they needed energy, when they were out chasing people.

In a park, a small band of actors was playing out a Sailor Moon show. The actress playing Sailor Moon said,

"And in the name of the Moon..."

"..I'll punish you!" Shouted the crowd. In the crowd, was Molly and Melvin. Melvin noticed that Sailor Moon was a big hit, and Molly said that everyone believed in Sailor Moon. Up above, in the sky, a strange creature appeared. It had four different faces; happy, sad, mad, and zany. It called itself Fourface. It showered the crowd with leaf-like sheets, and they drained the people's energy. Serena and Luna saw, and Serena suspected the Negaverse. Luna agreed.

Later, at the Doom Tree, Fourface was putting the energy it collected into the tree. Nothing was happening. Alan and Anne had no idea what to do.

At Crossroads Jr. High, Miss Haruna was looking at her class roster. She noticed that Anne wasn't there, and Serena came up and said that it was because Anne wasn't feeling well.

"Aren't you a well of information this morning?" Miss Haruna said.

"Well, I feel sorry for new kids." She responded, adding under her breath, "Especially Alan!"

After school, Serena, Amy and Lita were going to see Alan and Anne. Lita said,

"Why are we bothering with these two slackers, anyway?"

Serena said Anne was a classmate,

"...and Alan is a major hunk!"

Serena said that they were going to check up on Molly and Melvin as well. They went to Alan and Anne's apartment. Serena rang the bell, and Alan answered. Serena noticed that Alan and Anne were dressed alike, and Anne snapped,

"Similar tastes, that's all! Except when it comes to air-brained school girls!"

"Hey, check the attitude!" Lita snapped back. Amy told Lita to cool it, and Alan invited them in for hot chocolate.

While Alan was in the kitchen making the hot chocolate, he was humming to himself. He noticed, and he thought to himself, It sure is nice having Serena over. In the front room, Serena asked Anne if she was feeling any better, and Anne simply asked why Serena was there. Serena said that she was worried, and asked Anne where her parents were.

"Amazing!" Anne said, switching on her defences. "Who asked you to butt in?"

"Gee, I'm so sorry they're not around." Serena apologized. "It's tough to be new to a place and not feeling so hot."

Anne said that she and Alan could take care of themselves. Lita wanted to leave, and in the meantime, Serena snuck off to Alan's bedroom door. It opened slowly, and Alan closed it, saying that it was the maid's day off, so the room was a mess. Serena suggested that they organize a garage sale. Anne, now extremely angry that Serena was invading their privacy, showed Serena and her friends the door.

Alan and Anne were on their balcony, overlooking the city. Something strange was happening to them, and it could have been dangerous.

Serena's alarm rang, and Luna sprang to life. She went to wake up Serena, but she was gone.

Serena arrived at Alan and Anne's, and Anne answered the door. Serena asked Anne if she was ready for school, and Anne asked why she was bothering them again. Serena said that it was no bother at all, and Alan came out of the bathroom, with a toothbrush in his hand.

"Serena, what a brave girl you are!" He said. "You'd risk coming back here again?"

Serena said that she wanted to see if Anne wanted to go to school, and Anne said no. Alan invited Serena in for cocoa, and Serena said,

"I never turn down chocolate!"

"Or anything else!" Anne sighed.

In the kitchen, Anne asked Alan why he invited Serena in. Alan said that it was because he got a wierd feeling every time he saw her. Anne warned him that Serena was snoop.

Careful, Serena! Serena thought to herself, standing in front of Alan's bedroom door. Curiosity killed the cat!

"But hey, you're not a cat, so go for it!" She said to herself. The door slowly opened. Serena saw only darkness, and suddenly, some vines came out of the shadows, and grabbed Serena. Serena struggled to break free, and Alan closed the door, and the vines withdrew. Serena asked what the vines were, and Alan said that it was a project for his new science class. Serena asked what kind of science, and Alan stammered,

"Uhh...Space Botany!"

"Out of this world!" Serena said. Anne scolded Serena for barging into Alan's room. She told Serena that she wasn't going to school, and once again, showed Serena the door. Later, as Serena was walking down the street, Alan watched from the balcony. Serena waved, and he waved back. He felt odd, like his heart was controlling him...

At the Doom Tree, Alan and Anne noticed a new seedling. Anne said that it came about the time Serena showed up. Anne said, presumably out of jealousy, that they should feed her energy to the Doom Tree. Alan had a better idea, and brought out Cardian Fourface. He told the Cardian to give some energy to the seedling, and the Cardian obliged. The energy was injected into the seedling, and the seedling died. Fourface looked depressed, and said,

"I have failed you!"

Alan and Anne were worried. A thought skimmed through both of their heads, as they heard only two words.

"Help me..."

"Could that be the tree talking?" Anne asked.

"I don't know!" Alan responded. "I thought I heard something too!" He paused. "Can't be. It's just a tree."

"But," Anne started, "what do we know about it anyway?"

"Don't you remember?" Alan asked. "Our kind have drawn energy from the Doom Tree for countless thousands of years."

"What makes it...live?" Asked Anne. Alan said,

"It's a highly evolved organism designed to transfer energy from other species into us."

"You're sure that's all it is?" Asked Anne. Alan said that it's what he was told.

Lita asked Serena if she had some neurons loose, for going back to Alan and Anne's. Amy said,

"I think it's sweet you care for that shrew!"

Lita saw something in Serena's hair, and hit it off. It landed on the ground. It was a small green root. Serena, Amy and Lita watched the root intently. Suddenly, it moved, and the three were terrified.

Later, there was a meeting at Raye's. Luna and Artemis had studied the root found in Serena's hair, and said that it drained the energy out of things. Luna told Artemis to show them.

"Do I have to?" Complained Artemis. Luna called him chicken, and just to get the black cat off his back, he put his paw in. Without warning, the root flew up, and latched itself onto Artemis' arm. He shook it off, and Luna said,

"See what I mean?"

"Not really!" Said an embarrassed Serena. Amy said,

"So, you're telling us it drains energy?"

Lita reminded Serena that she was walking around with it in her hair. Artemis said that there was something else. Something serious. Mina said,

"Cut the melodrama Artemis, and tell us!"

Artemis cut to the chase. The root was from a plant.

"From the Negaverse."

Serena saw what Artemis meant, and asked them why it should bother them. Luna pointed out that it was like all the Cardians, with the exception that it was a plant.

"The next question is, how did it get into Anne and Alan's apartment?"

It all began to make sense to Raye. Alan and Anne were from the Negaverse. Serena said,

"Hold on a second! Alan told me that he was growing this thing for his Space Botany class, whatever that is."

"And you bought that story?" Questioned Amy, Raye, Lita and Mina.

"Of course I did!" Serena replied. "Why would he lie to me?"

"If he's a monster from the Negaverse, of course he would!" Raye snarled. Luna suspected that there was more to the plant than the root, and Mina wondered aloud what plans Alan and Anne had for the tree. Serena jokingly suggested to sell it, and Artemis told Serena to face the facts. Lita said that Alan and Anne were from the Negaverse. Serena didn't believe it.

Serena and Luna arrived at Alan and Anne's apartment. Luna said it was dangerous, and Serena still didn't believe that Alan was from the Negaverse. Serena went to the apartment by herself. Luna stopped her. Then, Darien came up to Serena, holding flowers. They were for Anne, and Darien was bringing them to Anne. Serena told Darien that Anne was faking her illness. Serena began to cry that Darien never brought her flowers, and Darien told her not to be jealous. Serena warned Darien that Alan and Anne had dangerous things, and Darien laughed it off. Serena went with him.

Anne answered the door, and blushed as a beautiful bouquet of flowers was placed into her hand. Serena, sensing that Anne wouldn't want the company, asked Darien if he had stayed long enough. Anne smiled at Serena and said,

"Hi Serena! What a surprise! Why don't you come in and have some cookies and cocoa with us?"

Alan came to the door, and invited Serena in as well. Serena accepted.

Later, when a pile of food was placed on the coffee table in the living room, Serena was eating like a pig. Anne thought to herself, This is perfect! Now, if I can just lure her back into the room with the Tree!

Anne suggested that Alan take Darien onto the balcony to see the view. Alan took Darien to the balcony. Anne moved over closer to Serena, and said,

"Now that we're alone, I can show ya!" Serena had a blank look on her face. "You know, the space plant that's locked away in Alan's room?" Serena remembered, but didn't know if she wanted to give up the desserts to see it.

"To tell you the truth," Anne said, "I'm scared stiff of that thing in there! I don't know what he feeds it, you know?"

"Then, why go in?" Serena asked.

"I'm sure if you're with me, I can handle it." Anne replied. Soon, Anne and Serena stood before the door to Alan's room. It opened, and Serena walked in. Before her was darkness. Suddenly, Anne pushed her, and she fell to the ground.

"Fourface!" Anne called. "Come here and drain the filling from this little cream puff!" Fourface grabbed Serena, and started to drain her energy. As the Cardian was carrying out it's duty, a voice rang out.

"Enough! Enough! I've had enough!" Fourface stopped. It was the Doom Tree talking. It's roots spread out, and burst into the apartment. Darien and Alan saw.

"Where's Serena?" Darien yelled. The Doom Tree caught Serena, and slammed Fourface into the ground, just missing Darien and Alan.

Outside the building, the roots of the Doom Tree had spread out through every floor and window. Amy, Raye, Lita, Mina, Luna and Artemis all saw the sight.

"MARS POWER!!!!"

"MERCURY POWER!!!!"

"VENUS POWER!!!!"

"JUPITER POWER!!!!"

Jupiter tried to get in first.

"JUPITER THUNDER CRASH!!!!!"

Nothing happened. Suddenly, they heard screams.

"That's Serena!"

"We've gotta help her!"

"But how?"

Serena called out for help.
