Sailor Moon Episode 138Episode title: Tutu Treachery Original American Airdate: 10/19/2000 Original Canadian Airdate: One fine day in Tokyo, Serena and Rini happened upon an advertisement for a ballet. It was the ballet called "Jazelle", and the producers were looking for more dancers, and giving away free classes for beginners. Excited about the prospect, the two decided to go for it. They brought their news to the girls at the restaurant. "Ballet?" Mina said. "Do you have a part yet?" "I want to play Jazelle!" Serena replied. "You're kidding, Serena." Amy said. "Because the story Jazelle is about a woman who loses her love. After she dies, her ghost comes back for him. You think you could really dance for that part?" Lita sat up. "You can't even pirouette without falling down." She said. "Doubt if you must." Serena said, undaunted. "But, the man said I could be the greatest star in the whole show!" Mina asked Rini if she had gotten a part too, but Rini was too little. "Sounds more like the man got dropped as a baby if he's casting Meatball Head." Raye quipped. Serena's smile didn't fade. "Why don't you guys admit it?" She said. "You're totally jealous!" "I've never done a ballet before." Amy said. "Why don't we try?" Lita suggested. "Maybe we can be in the show too." Despite Serena's protests, the girls wanted to be in the ballet. Time passed, and Serena and Rini were getting ready for their first ballet class. Serena was trying to put on her ballet slipper, and flinched in pain. She reached into her shoe and pulled out a thumb tack. "Why?" Serena wondered dramatically. "Why would they do that? Why would they want to ruin my young career before it's even started?" Serena started to really get dramatic. "I won't give up!" She said. "The world deserves to see me on that stage as Jazelle!" An impatient Rini tried to hurry things along. Serena and Rini went into the room, and tried to stretch like the other ballerinas. Serena had a little too much fat on her though (Even though she is as thin as a stick.........). "No! That's not what I showed you!" The instructor's voice shouted. "Sorry ballet man!" Serena and Rini said. "What were you thinking, Kariko?" The instructor asked. Serena and Rini looked over and saw the instructor with the other ballerina in the room. "At that point in the program, Jazelle has become a spirit, okay?" The instructor told Kariko. "You've got to let go of your human errs. Dance as if you were as light as a feather!" They started the dance routine over, and Serena and Rini commented on how hard it must have been to get it absolutely right. Meanwhile, Fish Eye was in the dressing room, getting ready for the beginner's class to begin. In the practice room, the instructor asked Kariko to wait for him until after the class, and to think about nothing but Jazelle. "As you can see ladies, ballet is very demanding." He said to Serena and Rini. He hoped they were all ready. Serena and Rini turned around and saw who he was talking to. Standing behind them was Fish Eye, Mina, Lita, Raye and Amy. The girls all introduced themselves to Fish Eye. "Hi." Fish Eye said. "I'm Fi." If this is the competition, it's gonna be a cakewalk! Fish Eye thought. The instructor clapped his hands to get the girls attention, and started them on some bar exercises. The girls all grabbed hold of the bars on the walls, and started to practice basic routines. The instructor told Lita to straighten her back, and Lita fell on Mina. He told Raye to straighten out her leg, and she kicked him in the stomach. When he recovered, he looked to see "Fi" doing her exercises rather well. The girls were all amazed at her grace and skill. "Hold it, please." The instructor said. "What's wrong?" Fi asked. "What's wrong is you're in the beginner class." The instructor replied. "Can you stay and after so we can talk?" "Me? Of course." Fi replied. "Good." He said. "It's just that, when I saw you dance, I saw the image of Jazelle. It was perfect." The instructor didn't know that Kariko had heard what he was saying. She walked to him. "Yamagishi, wait!" Kariko said to the instructor. "You're not seriously considering her for my role, are you?" "Don't be upset." Yamagishi said. "We'll talk when the beginner class is over, okay?" "I don't wanna talk!" Kariko said. "Save your stories! I don't want to end up like Jazelle, betrayed by the man she trusted most in the world! I won't!" At that, Kariko ran out, and when Yamagishi looked at her go, all he could think of was how much like Jazelle she looked. Fish Eye was ecstatic that the role for Jazelle would be all hers. After the class, Serena asked her friends if someone would untie her slippers. They refused, and went off to get something to eat. Rini decided to stay, but Serena would have to get the slippers off her feet herself. Then, they heard a group of girls on the other side of the lockers talk about Kariko, and how the role had been given to Fi. Serena and Rini tracked down Kariko, and began to talk to her. "I acted like such a big fool." Kariko said sadly. "You've got a right to get upset if he changed his tune for no good reason though." Serena said sympathetically. "He didn't." Kariko replied. "He didn't fall for that Fi girl because of her looks. He was totally blown away by her skill. Yama lives for ballet. Obviously he feels I'm just not the best dancer to play Jazelle. He did what's best for the show." Rini looked at Kariko, smiling. "But you're a wonderful dancer!" She said. "She's good, but her dancing's so cold, like a fish, but when you dance, you light up the room. You can tell you like ballet too, just like Yamagishi. Don't give up!" "You're so sweet." Kariko said. "But Yama's the best teacher I've ever had, and if he believes I can't do it, it's over." Kariko told the girls that ballet was Yama's dream, and that she wanted to be there to share it with him. Rini suggested that she talk to Yamagishi, but Kariko said it was too late. Rini said that in love, it's never too late. Kariko said Rini had good advice for a little girl, and Serena said she got it from her mother. Rini quipped that her mother isn't quite as wise in the present age, and Kariko said she felt better before they could fight. She was going to talk to Yama about what was happening. That night, Rini was in her attic room. "It's so not fair." She said to herself. "Kariko and Yamagishi are perfect for each other, and it's not working out." Just then, Pegasus appeared. He said, "It might seem like that right now, Rini, but they just have to work some things out for themselves. Some things take time." "How much?" "Whatever is needed. People who work together have to find a way to seperate work and friendship. It's not always easy, and sometimes the work gets in the way of the friendship." Rini thought that growing up was hard. Pegasus knew for certain though, that Yamagishi loved Kariko. Rini just wondered now, if Kariko would be Jazelle. Meanwhile that night, at the ballet school, Fish Eye/ Fi was dancing with Yamagishi. When they finished their routine, Yamagishi thanked her and said that he'd like her to practice onstage. Fish Eye was happy about the arrangement, but all Yamagishi could think about was his real Jazelle, Kariko. Fi caught his attention, bringing him out of his semi trance. "You're thinking about Kariko, huh?" Fi said. "I'm sorry." Yama said. "I meant to apologize earlier for that awkward scene between Kari and me." "You don't need to apologize." Fi said. "I know. I know exactly how she feels." Fi walked up to Yamagishi and touched his hand to her cheek. "When you're crazy in love with a hot hunk," she said, "you want them to have eyes only for you. You want him to think you're the one and only star of his show. Get my drift?" Yama drew back. "You mean...?" "Yes!" Exclaimed Fi. "I want to share you dream, Yama!" And pick it apart and tear it to shreds looking for Pegasus! She added in thought. She tried to move in to kiss Yama, but the two heard a crash. At the doorway was Serena and Rini, saying that they'd forgotten their ballet slippers. Rini almost gave away that they were spying, but Serena quieted her. Fish Eye was angry, and walked off. Yama said that they all needed a good night's sleep. Serena and Rini started on their way, but Yama asked Serena to stay a minute. "Can you come to the theatre tomorrow?" Yama asked. "I'd like you to rehearse your part onstage." "My part!" Serena said excitedly. She agreed, of course. The next day, Kariko arrived at the theatre, with her ballet slippers in her hand. She knew that she wanted to help Yamagishi gain his dream, even if she wasn't Jazelle. Inside, Fi and Yama were doing a rehearsal. When they finished, he thanked her. "I can't believe Kariko and I are finally this close for our opening bow for Jazelle." Yama said. Fish Eye gasped. "You and Kariko?" She said. "But I thought I was to be Jazelle." "What?" "Yes! Am I not Jazelle!?" "I guess you must have misunderstood things, Fi." Yamagishi said. "I cast you in a supporting role. Kariko is my only pick for Jazelle." Fish Eye was more than angry that she had felt misled, and felt she was better than Kariko. Yama said that Fish Eye may have been better, but Kariko had poured her heart into the ballet, and it might help launch her international career. Kariko heard them talking. Fish Eye talked about the audience only caring about beauty, and Yama wanted a ballet from the heart. Kariko said, "From the heart, not from the toes." Kariko and Yama apologized to each other for what had happened. Kariko suddenly felt her heart beating fast, and she ran into Yamagishi's welcoming arms. Fish Eye was more furious than anything she'd ever known. She reverted to her normal self, and knocked out Kariko with a blast of water. She trapped Yama, and his Dream Mirror appeared. Serena and Rini heard everything behind the curtain. "MOON COSMIC DREAM ACTION!" Fish Eye looked into Yama's Dream Mirror, but didn't find Pegasus. "Nothing but tutus and ballet shoes in there." She said. "That sounds about right!" A voice shouted. It was Sailor Moon. "His dreams are all of ballet!" Sailor Moon shouted. "And even more about the love ballet makes you feel in your heart!" Sailor Mini Moon added. "We're the Sailor Scouts!" "Champions of Justice and Dreams!" "I am Sailor Moon!" "And I am Sailor Mini Moon!" "And we're telling you to get off the stage!" Fish Eye was not so scared, but apparantly scared enough to call a Remlis. The monster was a marionette-like ballet instructor. It had no strings though. "Is it just me, or are these bad guys getting goofier?" Sailor Moon said to Mini Moon. "Definitely goofier." Mini Moon said. "But, we've still got to be on our toes." The monster told them to stand on their toes with their backs straight. Fish Eye left everything to her monster. The monster, instead of attacking, started to instruct them on how to dance ballet. It did a strange dance though, balancing on one foot, and only twisting its torso around. The Remlis told them to impress him with some moves. He didn't care, but threw a tutu on Sailor Moon. The Remlis called Sailor Moon the one with the bulges sticking out. "I hope you mean my pigtails!" Sailor Moon said. "No, he means your fat." Sailor Mini Moon said, pointing at her waist. The monster told Sailor Moon to dance. She started to pirouette faster and faster, though not of her own accord. Sailor Mini Moon grabbed onto her tutu and went around with her, until the tutu snapped, and the two Sailor Scouts fell to the ground. The Remlis popped a walnut out of its head, and threw it at the Sailors. They jumped out of the way, and saw a small hole made by the nut. The Remlis took another walnut, and cracked it open, and the pieces shot at the two Sailors like bullets. As the Sailor Scouts tried desperately to keep dodging the deadly weapons, the Remlis said that they had done well. It readied itself to attack, but a rose flashed down and distracted it. Tuxedo Mask was seen high in the rafters. "That'd me, Tuxedo Mask, defender of Sailor Scouts and dreams!" Tuxedo Mask said, after the Remlis had asked who threw the rose. "And, I think you've cracked your last nut, splinter boy!" While the monster was distracted, Sailor Mini Moon called Pegasus. "My friend Pegasus, protect people's dreams!" "CRYSTAL TWINKLE BELL!" "MOON GORGEOUS MEDITATION!" The monster was destroyed. Kariko and Yamagishi came to, and hugged lovingly. Sailor Moon, warmed by the scene, ran to Tuxedo Mask and hugged him tightly. He told Sailor Moon that she shouldn't quit her dayjob. "Well, if you saw we were having trouble, why didn't you come and help sooner?" Sailor Moon asked. "We're supposed to be Champions of Justice." Mini Moon said. "We're not supposed to need rescue." "Who asked you, brat?!" "In the future, you never called me names!" "We're not in the future!!!" Tuxedo Mask sighed. That evening, all the girls were enjoying the ballet "Jazelle". They had looked everywhere, but hadn't seen Serena yet. What they didn't know, is that Serena was the real Princess in the Moon - the moon on the stage had a very distinct Serena face in it.
