Sailor Moon Episode 83Episode title: Star Struck, Bad Luck Original American Airdate: 6/12/2000 Original Canadian Airdate: 9/16/2000 Everything but Raye was frozen in silence. Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus were frozen statues. In the distance, a black tornado ripped towards Raye and the scouts, tearing up everything in its path. Despite Raye's cries, the tornado tore down the Sailor Scout statues one by one, leaving nothing but rubble. The tornado came closer and closer to Raye... Raye woke with a start in her room, next to Serena. She had fallen asleep on her table, as had Serena. She sat up and Mina looked at her. "Is there something wrong Raye?" She asked. "Did you have some sort of premonition?" Asked Lita. "Well, sort of," Raye replied. "and it was super noisy too!" She picked up Serena's sleeping head and Serena woke up. "Actually, this day dream was majorly strange." "How was it strange?" Asked Mina. Before Raye could answer, Serena chimed in. "Talk about having a strange dream!" She said. "Boy, did I ever have a lulu! I'd eaten big gobs of ice cream, then I had to go to the doctor." She remembered that Darien was there. "Oh wait," she said, "that actually happened!" "Serena," Amy said, "we came here to study, not sleep." "You're not really satisfied with the mark you got on your test, are you?" Asked Lita sternly. "Well, I'm pretty sure I got at least one of the answers right!" Serena said, trying to make light of it. Amy looked at Serena with concern. "Aren't you concerned about the High School Exam? 'Cause you need to pass it to get in the best class." She said. "It's hard to keep up with school and fight evildoers," Mina said, "but there's no use crying over misspelled silk." Amy quickly told Serena to ignore Mina's "saying", and corrected her, "There's no use crying over spilt milk." "Hey, that's a good one too!" Said Mina. "I think misspelled silk is more fitting in this case." Said Serena, starting to feel dejecting. Raye started thinking to herself as her friends talked around her. As she did, she suddenly flashed to her dream, remembering the Sailor Scouts being torn into pieces. As Amy showed Lita how to do something in her schoolbook, Raye suddenly felt saddened, but thankful that her friends were there in her life still. In the sewers of Tokyo, in a dark room, an ominous man dressed like a scientist stood before a large array of test tubes. He opened one of the test tubes and poured its contents into a beaker. In the beaker, white masses pelted an ovum-like cell, until it exploded, breaking the beaker. Above the beaker, a glowing egg-like object floated. The scientist took hold of the object and smiled with satisfaction. "Come here, Kaori." He said. A red-haired woman, also in a lab coat with a red outfit underneath emerged from the shadows. "Yes, Doctor?" She said. "At last, I have completed my first Heart Attacker." He said. "Mikusi will seek out a human with a pure heart. She will then attack and steal the heart." "A pure heart?" "Yes. A pure heart is the first ingredient towards almightiness, which is the ability to rule the world! Almightiness is achieved when three items of power, usually in the form of a charm or amulet, are stolen from people with pure hearts." "You mean, if you're able to locate these chosen people and take their object of power..." "Yes! I shall have the whole world in my hands!" The scientist laughed in evil joy. Kaori disappeared as the egg flew out a sewer pipe and into the night. The next day, Serena groaned at her mark in school. She got a 5, beating her own record of 30. "This is hopless!" She sighed to herself. As school got out, she walked home depressed. "I know I didn't study, but I didn't know it would be this bad." Serena didn't notice Raye walking down the street in her direction. "Oh no!" Serena gasped. "What are mom and dad gonna say when they find out? Or worse. What's Raye gonna say! She always manages to find me in a crisis like a Serena-seeking missile." Just then, Raye walked smack dab into Serena. They both looked at each other for a moment, then screamed out in pain. They went to a nearby park fountain to put water on their injuries. "You shouldn've been watching where you were going, Serena!" Raye said as she finished her turn at the fountain. "As if, Raye! You were the one who walking into me, you know!" Serena started to water her forehead. "Relax." Raye said. "I heard about your mark, but you don't have to take it out on me." Mind your own business! Serena thought to herself. "Aw, come on." Raye said, smiling. "Marks aren't everything. Everyone knows you're the bomb with lots of other good qualities." Huh? Serena was slightly startled. It must be that hit on the head! Suddenly, Raye's mind drifted to her dream, and her smile faded. "Strange." She said. "Say Serena, what do you want to do with your life?" "Me?" Serena said, taken aback by Raye's attitude. She and Raye went to lean against a railing to continue their conversation. "I dunno." Serena finally said. "There's so many opportunities, it's hard to choose. How 'bout you?" "Well," Raye replied, "A singer, a songwriter, model, an actress, a muscician, but mostly, I just... oh, it's silly." "No, go on." Serena said. "Oh, you don't wanna know!" Raye said, slapping Serena's back so hard, she keeled over. "Okay. I'd like to fall in love and get married, but it's too embarrassing to say." "You said it though, didn't ya?" Serena grumbled. Raye kept acting embarrassed. "Well, you're probably going to get married to Darien someday, aren't you, Serena?" She asked. "Now, you're embarrassing me, but yes, he is my Mr. Wonderful!" Serena replied, blushing. "Well, don't you think Darien would want to marry someone who achieved better marks?" Raye asked. Serena suddenly felt less than happy about herself. "Academics aren't everything." Raye said. "But you should still try to do your best to improve for your sake, and Darien's too. Well, gotta go!" As Raye walked away, she turned around and said, "Don't worry about it and cheer up, Serena. Cheerfulness is one of your best qualities." Thanks! Serena thought, smiling. No matter how nasty she is to me, I think in her own way, she still is kinda cool. I know she is a really good friend. She's okay. Meanwhile, the egg released by the scientist descended upon the Cherry Hill Temple. It went to a tree covered in fortunes. As it approached the tree, it spread out a slimy substance and was able to absorb itself into the tree. Kaori hovered above, supervising the egg as it imbued the tree with negative power. "Now to find the one with the pure heart." She said to herself. "Okay my dear, where are you?" As Raye came up the steps of the Temple, Kaori watched and acquired her target. Somewhere on the way home, Serena was sitting on a stairway, looking at her abismal grade. "Raye's absolutely right." She said to herself with a sigh. "If Darien ever saw this mark..." "That's a horrible mark." A voice said. "... he would say." Serena said, seeming to finish a sentence from the voice. She suddenly realized that it was Darien, and leaped up, trying to hide the paper against her chest. "Lovely day, isn't it?" She said, trying to laugh. Darien looked on with concern. "Don't say another word!" She said, crumpling up the paper. "I'm planning to be making changes, starting with studying in a group at Raye's house. I promise I'll do better!" "That sounds like a good idea." Darien replied. "It's hard!" Serena said. "I mean, juggling school and preventing global devastation." Darien chuckled. "Yeah I know, but I think we should postpone our date." "Yeah! Okay! Good idea!" Serena said insincerely. Darien handed her bag to her, and waved goodbye. As he left, Serena thought We'll never date again! Back at the Cherry Hill Temple, Raye was doing a fire reading. "Show me the meaning of my dream." She said. "Sun, moon, sky, earth, fire, air, water, rock, star!" The fire showed Raye the tree on the temple property, and she remembered her dream, but didn't get much of anything. "Oh no!" Raye said to herself. "I feel nothing!" She walked outside and looked around. Maybe there's nothing to worry about." She said to herself. "Maybe this fortune'll help." Raye went to the hut containing the ribbons that Raye used to tie to the tree, and got one, not noticing the pair of legs in the air behind her. She went to the tree and proceeded to tie it to a small branch. "I wish for world peace, and a happy life for everyone." She said. With a flash, the tree burst into white light. The tree turned into Kaori's Heart Attacker, which loomed before Raye. "Who are you?" Raye asked, alarmed. "Mikusi's the name, heart is the game. Your pure heart is mine!" Shouted the monster. Raye considered her situation for a moment. "Oh no!" She said to herself. "I can't fight here. I don't want grandpa to get hurt." With that, Raye turned around and bolted into the bushes away from the main gate. Mikusi gave pursuit through the dense trees. Raye reached a wall, and turned, grabbing her transformation pen. Before she could transform however, Mikusi pinned her wrists against the wall with her hands. Her hands detatched and turned rock hard, effectively immobilizing Raye. Her transformation pen on the ground, Raye was unable to become Sailor Mars. Mikusi's hands regenerated on her wrists. "It never hurts to have an extra pair of hands now, does it?" Mikusi quipped. Kaori appeared behind her. "Mikusi, the power this girl has seems to come not from a charm, but from within. You may steal her heart." Kaori said. "Steal my heart?" Raye said with shock. Kaori smirked. "Time will tell whether you've got powers and a purt heart or not." She said. "Till then, I shall seek out other possible holders." With that, Kaori disappeared. Mikusi opened her shirt, revealing a black star. The star shot a beam aimed at Raye's heart, causing Raye excrutiating pain. Meanwhile, Serena and Luna were walking by the temple. Serena was still feeling down about her mark. "Oh, I can't stand it!" Serena exclaimed. "I'd much rather be with Darien than studying for this exam!" "Well, you can't." Luna replied. Serena turned around, and Luna came after her, jumping on her head. "You ought to study more." Luna said. "Don't you remember? Everyone's counting on you!" Serena groaned. "No buts, Serena!" Luna said, unsheathing her claws. "Or else!" "Alright, step off!" Serena said. "Really Luna, you're trippin' when it comes to what's on a girl's mind!" "Oh, true!" Luna shot back. "I know nothing's on your mind!" As the two ran past the temple steps, they heard Raye yelling. They both went to investigate, and looked on at the strange monster hitting Raye with some sort of beam. "What's that?" Serena wondered. "Oh, poor Raye!" "I don't know, but you better change yourself right now!" Luna replied. Serena nodded. "MOON CRYSTAL POWER!" As Mikusi continued to extract Raye's heart, a voice rang out. "Hey, nasty!" it said. A form appeared. "I stand for love! I stand for truth and justice too! I'm Sailor Moon!" "Sailor Mud?" Mikusi said, turning to Sailor Moon. "Who do you think you are, hurting my friend?" Sailor Moon shouted. "I despise your pathetic and evil ways! In the name of the moon, I will punish you!" "Hm." Mikusi said, almost smirking. "How handy. Another pure heart for the taking." Luna took note of Mikusi's comment, and Mikusi attacked. Her hair was shaped like the rope and bells at the front of Raye's temple, and the 'rope' was flung at Sailor Moon, trapping her legs. Mikusi used her advantage to throw Sailor Moon into a wall. Just then, the other girls arrived with Artemis. "What kind of monster's that?" Lita exclaimed. "Ugly kind!" Mina replied. "We better change ourselves right now!" Amy said. As the girls raised their transformation pens, Mikusi shot small sticks at them that bound them and pinned them against trees. "Amazing powers." Artemis said. "I think she's more powerful than our old enemies!" Luna replied. Mikusi smirked at her advantage. "Now who's the pathetic one, oh, what'd you say your name was?" Mikusi said, approaching Sailor Moon. She stopped suddenly when a rose got thrown into the bun in her hair. She looked up to a cherry tree to see a masked person. "Who are you?" She said. "What are you?" Tuxedo Mask answered back. "It's a warm spring day, a time for happiness and celebration. Your evilness does not belong here! Now beat it!" While Tuxedo Mask had Mikusi's attention, he told Sailor Moon to attack. "MOON SCEPTER ELIMINATION!" Mikusi was able to see Sailor Moon's attack, and responded with a flurry of papers which resembled Raye's anti-evil signs. Sailor Moon's attack was negated, and the Moon Scepter was flung to the ground. Everybody gasped in shock. Suddenly and quickly, Mikusi rushed Sailor Moon and pinned her against a tree with her hands, similar to Raye's binds. She used a similar trick with her face, and bit Sailor Moon's brooch. Sailor Moon detransformed back into Serena and her locket fell to the ground. The Silver Crystal's glow softened inside the locket. "Sai...lor...Moon..." Raye muttered weakly. Tuxedo called out Serena's name, and Mikusi immobilized him with her binding sticks. "You're tied up!" She quipped. "Now stay put!" Suddenly, Luna and Artemis attacked Mikusi, but were easily disposed of. Mikusi turned to Raye, opened her shirt, and the star on her chest shot Raye's heart. With little effort, Raye's heart was extracted in the form of a crystal. Serena could only watch as Raye's body went limp. Serena's eyes watered as she remembered their conversation in the park. "This is what we want!" Mikusi said, smiling. "The crystal of her pure heart! It contains her special power!" "Give it back!" Serena shouted, crying. "Give it back to Raye right now! You'll pay for your rotten ways!" "Hmph. Humans." Mikusi said. "They're such miserable..." Mikusi was interrupted when she was suddenly hit with two energy attacks, each from unknown sources. The combined power of the attacks was enough to destroy Mikusi. The egg that was absorbed into the tree fell out, and broke in half. A small black spirit was released and evaporated into the air. With Mikusi's binds gone, the girls ran to Raye and pleaded with her to talk to them. In the trees, two shadows held Raye's heart crystal. "This is not the pure power." One voice said. "Just a pure heart with the power of love." Said the other. "Hm." Said the first voice. "They made a mistake." The shadows lobbed Raye's heart crystal back to her, and it floated down to Raye. The girls watched as it glowed and absorbed itself into Raye's body. Raye slowly opened her eyes. As she did, she muttered some words, and Serena began crying in joy. "Who are they?" Artemis asked Luna. "Serena!" Raye said loudly. "Don't cry anymore!" "Kaorinite," the scientist said to Kaori, "bad call on your part. You missed the target and you were foiled." "Yes." Kaori replied. "That's true, Dr. Tomo, but I've noted the intruders." "It seems our new enemy is after someone with a pure heart." Luna said as everyone recovered from the battle at the temple. "But who were the ones who saved us?" Artemis asked. "This is odd." "Well," Serena said, looking depressed again, "so long, normal life. Hello new enemy." To the Next episode |
