One night, Raye was in front of the sacred fire, attempting to get a reading. She focused her thoughts on her vision of the black tornado. She recalled three large gems shining brightly and then fading away. She asked the fire for the meaning to her vision. She didn't notice Chad watching her from outside. Someone tapped him on the shoulder, and at first Chad waved it off, but when he turned around and saw the scariest sight of his life, he had to keep himself from screaming and disturbing Raye.

"What are you doing up so late?" The sight asked. It was Raye's grandfather. "Getting a last peak at your not-so-secret crush?" He snickered.

"No!" Chad said. "Raye's not sleeping and I like her, so I'm worried about her health."

Chad wanted to get Raye to go to bed, but Grandpa told Chad that it would have been useless to do so. Grandpa went off to bed. Chad wasn't about to give up.

As Raye continued her chants, Chad slid open the door to her room, shouting out for tea. Raye was uninterrupted. Chad then offered all kinds of midnight snacks. Again, Raye was uninterrupted. Chad watched quietly at Raye's chants heightened, an image began to appear in the fire. Both of them gasped. In an instant, the image was gone, and Raye was left with nothing. Her hairs got extremely close to the flame. Just then, Raye turned around and saw Chad.

"You're up late." She said. "Is something the matter?" Chad said that he couldn't sleep, and Raye hoped that it wasn't because of her. He was about to leave, and Raye was about to get back to her vision. He put a piece of cloth on the floor.

"So you don't burn up like a cheap Christmas tree." He said. He left and Raye began to chant again. He closed the door behind him. "When I'm I going to stop kidding myself?" He sighed. "She doesn't know I exist."

Meanwhile, Dr. Tomo created another Daimon pod. Dr. Tomo hugged it to his cheek. He hoped that the Daimon would succeed. Kaori said that she made sure the Daimon would.

"Our recent rash of failures is wreaking havoc on my calm demeanor." Tomo said. "In fact, it's gotten on my very last nerve and trampled it to oblivion!"

"I can see that Dr. Tomo, but you can save the nervous breakdown for later." Kaori replied. "Because I've take steps to ensure our success. Those pesky Sailor Pests won't be getting in the way again."

The Daimon pod flew into a glass jar that Kaori was holding and Kaori sealed it. Dr. Tomo laughed maniacally at the thought of being able to rule the world, and sent Kaori on her way.

Meanwhile, Raye was sleepily waiting for a train to pass by so she could continue walking. She banged on her head to keep herself awake. Chad had been following her.

"Poor thing." He said to himself. "She's exhausted." Just then, Serena appeared behind him.

"Hey, Chad, you skipping chores today?" She said, startling Chad. "You keeping an eye on your not-so-secret-Oh, I'll-just-make-believe-I-don't-care-about-her crush?"

"I'm just walkin'." Chad replied nervously. Serena had a proposal.

"If you take me up on it, you'll tour the world of Raye!" She said.

Chad went on to tell Serena that Raye was staying up late and not getting enough sleep. He was worrying about her, and was feeling rejected by her.

"Oh, you haven't read the rulebook." Serena said with a smirk. "Rule number one: Act like you don't like him."

"What kind of rulebook are we talking about?" Chad asked.

"Only the alltime best seller." Serena replied. "How to catch the dreamboat of your dreams! Raye's obviously got feelings for you, but the rules say don't tell!"

Chad felt like a giant red heart with the word "Love" on it hit him hard in the head. He had a determination to get these 'rules' and read them front to back. Serena told Chad that he would miss his opportunity to snatch up Raye, and Chad wondered if he could get to Raye through her stomach.

"That would certainly work for me, Chad!" Serena giggled. "My belly is totally ribable and hungry thanks to you!" She hit Chad hard in the back of the head with her bag, sending Chad to the ground. With that, Serena ran off. Chad's determination skyrocketed.

Meanwhile, Kaori was riding atop a public train. She released the Daimon pod from its jar and it absorbed itself into the train. Chad was walking by as the train was imbued with negative energy, and his jaw suddenly dropped at the sight he beheld. It was Raye talking with someone.

"That's so funny, Amara." Raye said. "I love your jokes. I think a sense of humor's really important, don't you?"

"Take this." Amara said, giving Raye a motorcycle helmet. "I'll give you ride home on my motorcycle and make sure you go straight to bed."

Raye thanked Amara amorously. So how come she listens when she tells her to rest?! Chad thought to himself. What's she got that I haven't?

"Besides a hot bike and neatly combed hair!" He said, finishing his thought. He dropped his groceries and turned around to walk away. He tripped and smashed his head into a nearby fence, but walked home unaffected. "Chad the Loser." He sobbed. "That's my name."

Raye had her helmet on, and Amara started her motorcycle. Raye told Amara to wait, and she reached in a pulled out a piece of cloth. It was the one given to her by Chad.

"Is that one of the belts from your family temple?" Amara asked.

"It was." Replied Raye. "But now it's my favorite ribbon."

Amara sped off quickly towards Raye's home. That night, Raye was dreaming about the black tornado again. She was jolted awake by Lita's voice. She looked up to see the girls staring at her.

"You're sleep deprived, aren't you?" Artemis asked. "Been staying up too late?"

"If you're cramming for your exams, it's not worth losing sleep over." Amy added. Raye told the girls not to worry. She got up to wash her face.

"All those who know exactly what's going on with Raye, raise your hands!" Serena exclaimed. Lita and Mina looked at her perplexed.

"Has she been doing the flame reading thing?" Mina asked.

"Flames have something to do with it!" Serena replied. The girls speculated as to why Raye was so tired. Outside, Raye was coming back from washing her face, and gasped when she suddenly saw Lita.

"If you're worried about something, you should let us try to help you." Lita said. "We're supposed to stick together in good times and in bad. And if those circles under your eyes are any indication, it's bad. Have you been having scary visions, or is it just guy stuff?"

"A little of both, Lita." Raye replied, warmed inside by Lita's words. "There's a vision coming to me slowly, and I'm kind of confused about Chad. Please don't tell the others."

"Your secret's safe." Lita said. "We'll talk Chad over milkshakes. We should uh, try to do it without Serena knowing."

The two giggled. Meanwhile, Chad was running down the street, trying to work off his rage.

How come he listens to her? He thought angrily, picturing Raye and Amara in his head. What's so special about her? She probably can't even do a karate kick!

He watered down his head in a fountain. He turned when he heard a soft noise coming from behind him. He looked and saw Michele playing her violin in the moonlight. He saw Amara come out from the bushes and tell Michele that they needed to sleep. Michele was worried that the Pure Heart Crystals might be captured while they were sleeping. Chad heard the conversation and didn't want Raye to get harmed because of them.

"I'm sorry." Amara said. "I still don't understand what's going on."

Chad had caught up to Amara in the middle of a rain storm the next day and challenged her to a fight. Amara wondered if it was because Chad was jealous.

"I am not jealous!" He shouted. "Put 'em up!"

"No way. I think we should probably talk this out." Amara replied. Chad wasn't listening. He lunged at Amara, and Amara side-stepped a punch. Chad landed in the dirt. "You're being totally unreasonable." Amara said.

"You stay away from Raye and you're off the hook." Chad replied.

"Raye's my friend." Amara replied. Chad heard nothing, and repeatedly failed to punch down Amara.

"I won't let you take Raye of her quest for truth!" Chad shouted. Raye happened to be passing by and heard Chad shouting. "You stay away, sneak!"

"Are all former rock stars as looney as you?" Amara wondered.

"I'm not looney." Chad said. "I'm living!" He charged at Amara, but stopped too suddenly and fell on his face when he heard Raye's voice. Raye dropped her umbrella and ran to Amara.

"I'm fine, but your boyfriend's pretty beat up." Amara said. Raye gasped and looked at Chad.

"Are you going around telling people you're my boyfriend, Chad?" She said.

"Not exactly." Chad replied, defeated. "I said I was your friend and that I wouldn't let her hurt you." Raye's anger melted away into shock. "But, I can see you don't need me anymore, Raye." He walked to Amara and put his hand on her shoulder. "Still, she has a heart as pure as gold. If you find a special place in it, you're one of the luckiest people on earth."

"I know." Amara said.

"And if you lose that place, your heart will burst into a thousand tiny pieces of misery." He continued. Raye seemed to be getting hit hard by Chad's words. "Now excuse me, I've gotta go put a blues band together."

With that, Chad left. Amara and Raye watched him go.

"Aren't you going after him?" Amara asked.

"No way." Raye replied. "He was a real jerk to pick a fight with you." She picked up Chad's jacket and stared at it. "Anyway, I always figured he'd leave me."

The rain had gone away at Raye's place, and the girls sat around waiting for her. Serena surmised that Raye was taking a romantic walk with Chad somewhere. She giggled about Raye and Chad kissing, and Lita came up to them.

"You guys," she said, "Chad's leaving!"

Chad thanked Raye's grandfather for everything.

"There are still many things I wish to teach you, Chad." Grandpa said. "What's the big hurry?"

"I just feel it's time to go. Travel a bit, you know?" Chad replied. Grandpa and Chad said goodbye, and Chad headed towards the temple gate. The girls surrounded him, pleading with him not to go. "If I've learned one thing here, it's to see the light." Chad said. Raye was coming in as he was running out. He dashed past her and ran as fast as he could. Raye turned around and looked on, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Go on." She said, holding back sobs. "I always knew you'd leave." She simply watched while Chad ran down the steps and out of sight.

"Aren't you going to go after him?" Mina asked.

"Why would I do that?" Raye asked, turning around and walking towards the temple.

"Because, he's a total doll. Because he has a place in your heart." Serena said.

"He did, but that's all ancient history." Raye replied. She looked at the ground sadly. "Now I just need to forget him, okay?"

Serena shook Raye's shoulders.

"If you let him get away now, you'll regret it for the rest of your life!" Serena said, looking Raye right in the eyes. "You need to go tell Chad you true feelings; that you really like him!"

"I don't!" Raye said, still fighting tears. "But he's nice to grandpa. And the temple's a lot more fun since he came to stay." The tears in her eyes threatened to fall.

"You love him." Serena said. "And I'm totally sure he feels the same way for you."

"You think?" Raye asked.

"Yeah!" Serena said, slapping Raye in the face hard.

Raye ran as hard as she could to find Chad in the city before he could leave her. He walked sadly and quietly through the city, thinking about Raye and all the times they had together. He remembered how much he treasured each moment, and how much he loved the woman he got to spend those memories with. Raye watched in horror as Chad began to step onto the train at the station, but Chad was suddenly stopped. The train flashed brightly, and turned into a Heart Snatcher. It looked like a train attendant with train wheels on its ankles.

"Looks like you've got a ticket for the Pure Heart Express!" The Heart Snatcher said.

"The what?!" Chad exclaimed, backing up. He stopped when Kaori appeared behind him.

"The Pure Heart Express, darling." Kaori said. "Why don't you take Shaggy Boy to the end of the line, darling?"

The Heart Snatcher raised its arms, and on one of its underarms was its black star. The star shot a beam and began to extract Chad's Heart Crystal.

"MARS STAR POWER!"

The Heart Snatcher extracted Chad's Heart Crystal.

"'Scuse me!" A voice shouted. "Leave him alone, Train Wreck!" The Heart Snatcher looked over and saw Sailor Mars. "I am Sailor Mars, and I'm the power of fire! I will right wrongs and triumph over the forces of evil! And that would be you, Sleezoid! Now let him go before I kick your caboose!"

Kaori appeared behind Chad and grabbed his Heart Crystal. Chad fell to the ground. While Sailor Mars was distracted, the Heart Snatcher trapped her in a ring attatched to a long leather strap and flung her around the area. Kaori looked on. She saw no power in the Heart Crystal.

"VENUS LOVE CHAIN ENCIRCLE!"

Venus' chain of energy hit the Heart Crystal out of Kaori's hand, and broke Sailor Mars' binds. Sailor Mercury leapt in the air and caught the crystal.

"You better get used to seeing us, creep!" Sailor shouted. "Because as long as evil's around, Sailor Soldiers have an enemy! And that means you!"

Kaori ordered the Heart Snatcher to attack, and disappeared. The Heart Snatcher shot electric strips of train track which surrounded the Sailors. The Heart Snatcher's train-like appendages transformed it into a vehicular format, and it crashed into the Sailors, sending them flying.

"SPARKLING WIDE PRESSURE!"

The power of Jupiter's attack simply fed the monster. It shot the energy back at the Sailors, and they all dodged it. The Heart Snatcher leapt high into the air and flung more electrified strips of track at them. The Sailors were pinned down on the track, shocked by the energy. The Heart Snatcher sped towards them once again. Sailor Mars pulled out an anti evil sign, and threw it at the Heart Snatcher. The Heart Snatcher slowed to a stop.

"You've blown your whistle for the last time on this route!" Sailor Mars shouted.

"MARS FIRE SURROUND!"

Mars' power melted away the binds on the Sailor Soldiers. Sailor Mars made way for Sailor Moon.

"MOON SPIRAL HEART ATTACK!"

The train returned to normal, the Daimon pod burst, and Chad's Heart Crystal was returned.

"So that wasn't a Pure Heart Crystal." Uranus said. She and Neptune were a few blocks away on top of a building.

"Guess we keep looking." Neptune replied.

That night, the train pulled out of the station. Raye was sitting on a bench, with Chad's head in her lap. Suddenly, Chad sat upright, and gripped his arm in pain.

"Wake up, Sleepy." Raye said. "You hit your head when you fell."

"What?" Chad replied. "Where's the monster?"

"Oh, you poor thing, you've been fighting monsters in your dreams, haven't you?" Raye replied. She noticed the wound on Chad's arm and bandaged it.

"Your ribbon?" He said.

"It was given to me by someone very special." Raye said. Chad blushed fiercely.

"Really, Raye?" He said.

"Yep, except he doesn't know he's special." Raye replied.

"So tell him." Chad said.

"I don't know if I should." Raye said. "The Love Rule says only to be direct in desperate times."

"Come on!" Chad exclaimed. He suddenly gripped his arm in pain. Niether noticed Serena hiding around a corner nearby.

"Just teasing, Chad." Raye said. "We'll talk about it over hot chocolate at home." Serena disappeared behind the corner as Raye picked up Chad's backpack. She and Chad went home to have a long overdue talk.
