Sailor Moon Episode 115Episode title: The Science of Love Original American Airdate: 07/25/2000 The girls studied an assignment book that belonged to someone at Mugen School. Lita thought it the perfect excuse to visit the school and investigate it. Serena came running up to the girls, announcing that Amy had gotten first place in an exam. Amy said it was a tie between her and another student. The girls thought they should sneak into Mugen if Amy passed the next exam, but they couldn't get her in because no tickets remained. Amy revealed that since she got first place, she was given a ticket. The girls were elated. The weather was terribly cold as the girls stood in line for the exam with Amy. Serena couldn't believe the dedication of the students. Inside, Dr. Tomo and Kaorinite were watching a monitor, showing the line of students ready to take the test. Kaorinite was hanging on the Doctor's arm. Kaorinite said that the exam was a prestigious event, and only the brightest were going. Tomo saw Serena eating on the monitor, and asked what she was doing there. Kaorinite thought she would be a spectator, or a mistake. "Doctor?" A voice asked. Kaorinite leapt off of Tomo's arm, and looked behind them to see a woman strangely dressed. "Ah, good morning, Viruet." Tomo said. "Everything is running as planned, I take it?" Viruet smiled. "Oh yes, smooth as silk, Doctor. There's no doubt I'll collect a bunch of pure hearts in just one swoop." "Good." Tomo replied. "We're depending on your success. The Pure Hearts are needed to waken the Sovereign of Silence." "I'm honored to serve, Doctor." Viruet said. She turned around to leave, but before she did, she addressed Kaorinite. "Hey, you." She said. "Cut the flirt act a bit and try to make believe you actually have a use." Kaorinite glared as Viruet left. Meanwhile, Rini was running down the streets in a snowstorm towards Hotaru's house. Darien saw her in his car and offered her a ride, but she refused. As he drove away, he saw Trista in his rear view mirror. Trista was looking on as Rini ran. Rini arrived at Hotaru's house, and it looked dark and empty. She thought back to when Kaorinite appeared and kidnapped Hotaru. At Mugen, Serena seemed to be the most excited person to be there. The girls looked around and saw students buried in books, studying very hard. Serena thought she was doomed, and Raye told her that she could do anything if she put her mind to it. Serena didn't appreciate the lecture. While the girls laughed and talked, a voice came from behind Amy. "Excuse me, Miss Amy Mizuno?" The voice said. It was decidedly female. Amy turned and saw a young girl in a school uniform, with white hair. "Oh, great." The girl said. "I thought I would probably bump into you here. I've heard such great things about you, I've been bugging to meet you." "And you would be?" Amy said. "I'm Julie." The girl said. "In the last round of exams, you and I tied for first place." Serena gasped in shock. Julie asked Serena who she was, and Serena made sure that Julie wanted to know. Julie asked Serena what her best subject was. "I'm told it's sleeping, but I think it's eating." Serena said. Julie looked at Serena. "That's funny. Not!" She said. She turned to Amy. "Amy, if you're not doing anything right now, there's something you might like to see. Come and I'll show you!" Amy went with Julie. Serena was angry she didn't get to go, but Mina suggested they split up and investigate themselves. Meanwhile, Amara and Michele were watching one of the classrooms. "The sea is roaring." Michele said quietly. "Darkness is coming, I'm sure." "Can you feel what it is, Michele?" Amara asked. Michele looked at the ceiling. "Not really. It sure is haunting me, though." She said. "I'm sure if these walls could talk, they would echo with words of negativity and other shameful no-good deeds that shouldn't exist in any school in this good world." Amara said. "Should we search that basement room again while we're here?" Michele asked. "Yeah." Replied Amara. "I feel that this time, the evil will finally be revealed." Michele nodded. Meanwhile, Julie, who was really Viruet in disguise, was with Amy in a dark lab. The table was illuminated with an odd piece of technology. Amy asked what it was. "It's a replica of the Tau Nebula." Julie said. "The Tau Nebula?" "Dark and wonderful, isn't it?" Said Julie. Very odd of her to say, since the object was nothing more than a half-orb set upon a square base. The orb seemed to be drawing fog into itself. "I guess." Amy said. Julie said, "It's a little like a telescope. When you look into it, you think you're accessing another galaxy. We made it here in Science Club. Mugen is such a great school. You should try and get in!" Julie explained the courses they taught, and that students with top marks get to teach the classes. Amy was amazed at the novel concept. She argued that even if a student has top marks, it doesn't mean they could teach. She said that a good teacher can encourage the students they teach, and help them to excel. "You're naive!" Julie/ Viruet said. "You're making an emotional argument about learning, which is totally crazy, especially when it comes to science." "You're wrong about that too!" Amy snapped. "Science isn't just about learning, it has to mean something!" "Oh, please!" Julie said. "Listen to yourself! The top scorer on national examination. I thought we could be friends, but I guess I thought wrong. Time for the test. See you later, softy! Don't emote too much on the test!" She laughed as she left. Amy looked at the nebula device while a camera silently watched her. "Tell me, Kaorinite." Tomo said, as he watched his monitor. "Don't we know that girl?" "Her uniform's familiar." Kaorinite replied. "You idiots!" Viruet said as she entered. "She could be a Sailor Scout! It's good that I'm in charge of science class, cause I'll try to reveal the truth about Miss Brainy Amy!" Viruet took off the school uniform she was using to disguise herself with. "Don't worry. You just leave this whole mess to me, Doctor." She said. "You're in over your head!" Kaorinite shouted. Viruet pushed Kaorinite out of the way, and onto the floor. "I want to make one thing clear." Viruet said. "This operation is my plan, and I won't let some sniveling little Sailor Soldiers get in my way! This is the best opportunity we've had to collect so many Pure Hearts. If there's a glitch, it's due to someone slacking off!" "How dare you!" Kaorinite shouted. "Put a sock in it!" Viruet shot back. She looked at her bracelet, called a Nanno Cuff. She activated it, and it started a booting process in the main computer. Viruet taunted Kaorinite some more, then went on with her mission. Kaorinite growled. When Tomo asked her if anything was wrong, Kaorinite said it was nothing. Meanwhile, Serena and Mina looked in on a classroom. Viruet activated her Nanno Cuff, and started a process that occurred all over the School. The computers that the students were working at suddenly extracted the Pure Heart Crystals of all the students in the building. The Heart Crystals were absorbed into the computer screens. Serena and Mina agreed that they should find the other girls and investigate the matter. Michele and Amara were dashing as quickly as they could to the bottom of the building's structure. Amara used her pass on the doors, and they swung open, revealing a huge, dark room. Through a thick layer of fog, the two saw a through high atop some stairs. On the throne was a woman dressed oddly, with shoulder length, black hair, holding a plush bear. "The Sovereign of Silence!" Michele shouted in horror. Amara kept her wits about her, and the two rushed at the Sovereign. Before they could get far, a voice stopped them. It was Amy. "You musn't harm her!" Amy shouted. "Don't try to stop us, Amy!" Amara said. "She's the root of an evil that's trying to invade our world!" "No, you're wrong!" Amy replied. "Hotaru is just an innocent girl being used a tool for the Heart Snatchers!" "No, you're wrong." Amara said. "You're being misled by your fondness for her. You're making a mistake, Amy." Amy suddenly ran past the two girls. "Why won't you believe it's not her fault?" Amara and Michele told Amy to move, but she refused. Suddenly, Viruet, disguised as Julie, appeared at the door. She revealed her true self. While Amy was taken aback, Amara and Michele ran past her, towards Hotaru. "Mosaic Energy Blaster!" Viruet shouted out. Using her Nanno Cuff, she was able to hit Michele and Uranus with powerful shocking energies. Amy stood strong in her position. Viruet, undaunted, shot another blast at Amy. She jumped out of the way. "MERCURY STAR POWER!" Viruet, while surprised, was still not defeated. She fired another Mosaic Energy Blaster at Sailor Mercury. "SHINE AQUA ILLUSION!" The small dots that were the Nannos from Viruet's attack froze and fell to the ground. Suddnely, the nannos leapt from their icy prisons, and hit Sailor Mercury with brute force. Viruet readied a shot that would extract Mercury's Heart Crystal. Sailor Mercury said that science should be used to make the world a better place. Viruet told Mercury to get ready to surrender her Heart Crystal. "Get real, you science shrew!" A voice shouted. Viruet looked and saw the other Sailor Scouts. "You think you can wipe out one of our best and brightest for your own selfish gains?" Sailor Moon shouted. "You better think again, because I'm not gonna let you get away with it! I'm Sailor Moon! And science won't help you, because your beaker's busted!" Viruet was still undaunted, and fired shots at the Sailor Scouts. The Sailor Scouts promptly, though barely, dodged the shots. While Viruet was distracted, Amara and Michele arose. "URANUS PLANET POWER!" "NEPTUNE PLANET POWER!" "WORLD SHAKING!" "DEEP SUBMERGE!" Uranus and Neptune's power both hit Viruet hard. While she was weakened, Sailor Moon stepped up. "MOON CRISIS POWER!" "RAINBOW MOON HEART ACHE!" Viruet used her Nanno Cuff to block Sailor Moon's attack, but the shots caused a malfunction in the device. Viruet attempted to fire another shot at the Sailor Scouts, but the shot turned against her, and started to dissolve her body. The Sailor Scouts watched with an almost silent vigil as she suffered in pain. Viruet fell to her knees. "It's your superlogical computer created without love that has ended up betraying you." Sailor Mercury said. The Nanno Cuff exploded, causing a short circuit in the main computer. It started to explode, and as a result, all the Heart Crystals of the students were returned to their rightful owners. "It's over." Tomo said. "Viruet has failed." Kaorinite smirked to herself. Back in the basement, the Sailor Scouts continued to watch while Viruet dissolved out of existance. Mercury picked up the bracelet. "Science will get you nowhere, unless it's for the love of mankind." Mercury said. With that, the Nanno Cuff dissolved into dust. Suddenly, the room began to quake violently, and Hotaru's chair rose into the air. The stage around Hotaru seemed to break into pieces. "Let this be a warning to you, Sailor Soldiers!" The Sovereign of Silence said. "The battle has only just begun!" The Sovereign cackled as she disappeared into a swirling portal. Rini still stood outside Hotaru's empty home, even in the snow. She was distracted when someone put an umbrella over her head. It was Darien and Trista. They told her to leave, but she refused. "You'll catch a cold, Rini." Trista said. "I miss her so much." Rini said. "I just want to catch a glimpse of her. Do you think Hotaru will ever come back?" Trista just hugged the little girl. Elsewhere, the girls met up with the Michele and Amara. "Thanks for meeting us here, Sailors." Amara said. "We thought it was important that we meet. We need to talk about something. As you know, we would've been able to eliminate the Sovereign of Silence if you hadn't interfered. Your strong feelings for Hotaru allow you to slip away from us. However, it probably saved our lives." She and Michele smiled. "You did the right thing." "We just wanted to say thank you." The girls all smiled and laughed together, then took the time to enjoy the sunset. To the Next episode |
