Sailor Moon episode 60Episode title: A Curried FavorCanadian Air date: 11/2/95 American Air date: 11/14/95 "Oh no!" The disappointed girl said. "You promised you'd come and help me!" Serena's parents sat on the couch of their home before the little girl, and the little girl seemed to have superiority. The disappointed girl was Rini. "I'm so sorry, sweetie." Serena's mother said. Her dad added, "We just can't make it." "Broken promises. I sure know how she feels!" Sammy quipped. Serena's parents looked at each other. Then, Serena's voice could be heard from the doorway. "Mom, is dinner ready yet?" Serena looked in to see that everyone looked too serious. Her parents explained their problem. "Serena," her mother said, "maybe you can help us." Serena was not too pleased about helping out her parents. "Well," her mother began, "we were going to go to a curry cooking party at Rini's school. All the parents and kids are cooking different kinds of curry dishes together." "But now," Her father continued, "this business dinner came up, so we can't make it." "So now, you want Master Chef Serena to take your place and do all the cooking instead, right?" Serena said enthusiastically. "Now, wait!" Rini said. "I'd rather go all by myself, cause she'll ruin everything!" "Yeah well I'd rather wrestle an alligator than help an ungrateful fungus like you!" Serena shouted. She left the room, and her mother called to her, but she didn't listen. Later that night, Rini was staring up at the night sky. "I'll be okay." She said to herself. "Even if I am all alone. I don't need anyone." Her mind got to thinking. She remembered a time in her own life in the future. She was with her mother and father on a cruise liner. She said to her father, "Hey Daddy, Daddy, look at the big ship over there. It looks like a floating palace!" Her mother and father laughed. Rini came back to reality, to her dismay, and thought about her parents, and all the time they had spent together. If only things could be like they were again... There was evil in vanity, and it definitely showed in the sisters named Prisma and Avery. Prisma, however, was eating a cake, and Avery was doing something to her face. "What are you doing, Avery?" Prisma asked. Avery said, "I'm just trying out these human beauty masks and potions that are supposed to make me look younger and prettier. I don't know if they're gonna work, but if they make men flock to me, hey why not?" "Humph." Prisma said in disgust, seeing that Avery had lemons on her face. "I can't stand men who think appearance is the most important part of a woman." "Surely." Avery agreed. "But a woman should at least try to look her best. I mean, if she doesn't care about herself, why should a man care about her either? Obviously, you don't agree." Prisma dropped her cake, and was ready to hit Avery, when a voice said, "Now, now girls, try to be nice." Avery and Prisma looked to their leader. Rubeus stood before them. Avery, realizing what was on her face, ate the lemons. "I've just now located another Crystal Point." Rubeus stated. "Where is it this time?" Prisma said, with Avery still eating. "It's located at a supermarket, right there!" Rubeus was looking at the three dimensional image of Crystal Tokyo. Using it's limited scanning computer, the ship found that the next Crystal Point was at a supermarket. "Interesting. Leave it to me, Rubeus." Avery said. "On my way, sister!" Avery gasped. She saw Prisma already leaving, and went after her. They both jumped into a mirror. "Rini's a rotten spore!" Serena shouted at Luna. "No, she's not, Serena." Luna calmly replied. "She is so! That brat is totally ungrateful!" "You just don't understand her." Luna said. Serena didn't know what she meant, so Luna explained. "Yes, Rini acts like a spoiled brat half the time, but give the poor kid a break. She's a long way from home in this strange place. You can't really blame her. She's bound to slip up sometimes. Now do you see?" "Well," Serena said, giving it some thought, "you do have a point." Serena got up, and began to walk downstairs, saying, "I'm glad I figured it out!" "You figured it out?!" Luna said. Serena walked downstairs, and passed the kitchen when she heard a sound. She looked in, and saw Rini handling a large pot. "I don't care if any of them come!" Rini said to herself. "I can do this better than Serena, anyway." She washed out the pot, and poured the water into the sink. "I'm okay. My hands are just too small to do this. I do need help." Rini began to sob, and Serena felt pity for her. She put her hand on Rini's shoulder. "Rini. What are you trying to do here, huh?" Rini wrenched away from Serena's hand. Serena drew it back, as if to be backing off. "I don't need your help, Serena!" Rini said. "I can cook this curry all by myself." "Why don't we go see Darien?" Serena suggested. "I'll bet anything he can help you. We'll go to his place and ask him to help us. What do you think? Is that okay with you?" "He won't want to." Rini replied. "Fine." Serena crossed her arms. "If you don't want to come with me to see Darien, I guess I'll just have to go over there by myself!" "You're just using me as an excuse to go over there!" Rini said. "No, no!" Serena nervously responded. "I'm just trying to help you out, here!" "Yeah, right!" The door to Darien's apartment emitted a knocking sound (Darien's apartment changed from the Beryl stories, and from the Alan and Anne stories), and Darien went and answered it. It was Serena, and she greeted him with a nervous hello. Darien was not happy to see Serena. He said, "Serena, I can't let you in." Serena told him that it wouldn't take long. Darien replied, "I was taking a nap." Then the ultimate weapon to guarantee that Serena could stay was unleashed. Rini came to the door, and said, "Darien, I need your help bad!" "Rini. Oh, so you're here too." Darien said. He considered it for a moment, and finally let them in. They went into the front room, where there was an incredible view, and sat down to drink tea. "So," Serena began to Darien, "do you know anything about making curry? Because, Rini would sure like you to come to her school dinner tomorrow." "But I can't." Darien said. "See, I have to work tomorrow." Serena pleaded, but Rini said, "It's okay. I'm sorry, Darien." Rini then began to play a sympathy game with Darien. "I know you're busy. Everyone is. I'll just go by myself, and maybe one of the other families will give me some of theirs." The sympathy game worked Darien said that maybe he could work the late shift. "But Rini," He continued, "I don't know the first thing about making curry." "Serena says she knows all about it!" Rini said. "But I don't believe her!" "Thanks very much!" Serena said to the little child. "Just wait! I'll make the best curry you've ever tasted! Just leave it in the hands of this master curry chef!" "Why do I have this sinking queasy feeling all of a sudden?" Darien remarked. "Let's try some first." Serena was happy with that. Then, Darien went and said, "You don't want to embarrass Rini tomorrow." Rini said that they should go to the store for ingredients. Serena said, "We don't have to go right now! Darien still looks sleepy! Let's do it later, okay?" "It's okay." Darien said. "Now's a good time." Serena didn't want to, but they went to the store for ingredients. Serena, Rini and Darien were walking, and Luna was with them. Serena began to list off the food items. "Now, we have to buy carrots, onions, chicken...what else?" "Curry?" Rini said. Serena laughed in embarrassment. In her thoughts, she hoped that she would remember what Lita had taught her. Serena looked up, and saw a beautiful sunset. They began to walk, and Luna watched. Rini was walking with her hand held by Darien, and she looked at the sunset. She remembered a time when she and her parents were walking down a street during a sunset. It was such a happy time for her. Why did she have to stay in the past? Her mother needed to be saved. But it seemed that she had a closer tie to her father, so why did her mother matter? Because she was the one who had given birth to her. She was the one who had taught her to be strong. She was the one who was right next to her... Rini reached up, and grabbed Serena's hand. She seemed to be in her own fantasy, and Serena thought to herself, Maybe Luna's right. Maybe under that bratty exterior there's a nice little girl who's lost and lonely, and just needs reassurance. Darien was having a strange feeling. Why does this feel so familiar? He thought. Luna watched the trio walking away, and said to herself, "Amazing! They look like a nice happy family!" It was then that Rini chose to come out of her fantasy, and yanked her hand away from Serena. "Serena, don't hold my hand! You're not allowed!" "You took my hand first, you ungrateful little spore!!" Serena argued. "Did not!" "Did too! Did too!" Luna looked at the two fighting girls. Darien was embarrassed, and Luna said to herself, "On second thought..." "Step right up, dudes! Try our delicious dark fruit!" The woman standing with Prisma and Avery said. Prisma and Avery were in the supermarket, trying to get people to try a concoction they called "Dark Fruit". They looked like pear shaped grapes. They were designed to turn the person who ate them into a slave of the Negamoon. "Come on, don't be shy!" The woman said. "You'll like, like it once you taste it!" No-one came to the stand. Prisma said to the woman, "Step aside, Avacato. Let me give it a shot." Prisma began to speak to the people in the store. "Once you taste our rare dark fruit, you won't be able to stop yourself from eating and eating and eating!" The only response from the people was a little kid yelling, "Weirdo!" The child's mother said, "Shh! Don't look at them!" Prisma got angry at the people, and crushed the fruit she was holding. Avery said, "Oh, come on, you just don't have the knack. Watch this. Gather round all you ladies and gentlemen!" She said to the customers cheerfully. "You just won't believe how yummy our new Dark Fruit is! Who's gonna be the first to try one? Come on, don't be shy! They're all free just for today!" The customers in the store began to congregate around the fruit stand. Avacato was giving people pieces of the fruit, and some even had seconds. Prisma looked at her sister. "Very impressive. Do you deceive men like this as well?" "No, I don't have to." Avery replied. "Men just instinctively flock towards my unbelievable charm and natural beauty." Prisma snarled. "Your modesty's killing me." The customers ate the fruit, and in an instant, their minds were changed. They were zombies, ready to obey any force from the Negamoon. "So," Prisma said, "our little delicacies have taken effect." "And now," Avery continued, "our compliant Nega-slaves can spread their dark energy around the supermarket." Avacato told all the people to touch as much food as they could. They all went around the store, touching apples, meat, and even the pots and pans. Serena, Luna, Darien and Rini all arrived at the store. Serena told Luna to wait outside. Luna asked why, and Serena said, pointing at a sign, "Well, that's because it says to leave pets outside, and I guess that means you, Luna. Right?" She loves to rub it in! Luna thought. She meowed. Serena, Rini and Darien all went inside. They went to the meat section (To look for chicken). Rini plugged her nose. "Darien, it smells nasty in here." Darien sniffed, and found that Rini was right. "The meat's all gone bad!" He said. Serena looked in shock. "I totally can't believe this!" Serena said. "I mean, this place has got a really good reputation." "Yeah? Well, forget the reputation." Darien snapped. "We're obviously not going to buy anything from this place." Rini and Darien left, and Serena was standing there in the store, her feelings half hurt by Darien's attack. Luna came up to her, and said, "Something very strange is going on here!" Rini and Darien had gone to a meat shop. As Rini and Darien looked at the meats, Raye came to the counter, and began to talk to the clerk. Rini recognized Raye right away, and said hello. "Oh, hi you guys." Raye said. "Have you seen Serena this afternoon? I'm looking for her." "Who cares about her?" Rini said, sticking her nose in the air. "Of course you should care about her!" Raye replied. "She's always having to bail you out of trouble!" "Raye," Rini said, changing the subject, "do you know how to make chicken curry?" "Do I?" Raye exclaimed. "I like to think so. Hey, I can cook all kinds of exotic food! As long as it comes from a package." "Oh." Said Rini. She asked Raye to go to the curry party, and Raye said, "Oh, but this isn't right! She should ask Serena to go." "But I want you to go, Raye!" Rini said. Raye said, "Well, I just think you should ask Serena." "If you go," Darien said, "then I can go to work." "No, Darien!" Rini said. "Both of you have to come. Please, Raye?" Raye nodded. She didn't feel right about it, though. In the supermarket, Serena and Luna were in an aisle. Serena asked, "Luna, what do you think is going on?" "Check this out!" Luna said. She jumped onto one of the shelves, and touched a pot. The pot turned black, and crumbled. Serena was startled, and backed into a shelf. All the food on it turned black, and melted away into brown goo. "Oh no!" Serena panicked. "What am I going to do about Rini's curry dinner?" "This'll affect a whole lot more than your dinner!" Luna quipped. Serena looked down, and saw the only thing in the store that had been left alone: A single carrot. Raye, Rini and Darien were all sitting on a bench. Raye didn't feel right about the doing the dinner with Rini, and Rini thought, Funny. I felt warm and safe when I was with Serena . Rini got Raye's attention, and suggested that they go to find Serena. Raye agreed, and the three people went to the supermarket where Darien and Rini had left her. On the way, the clouds around the supermarket grew dark and cold. Raye and Rini were leading Darien, and Raye suddenly stopped Rini. "I feel something evil here!" She said. She told the two to stay put, and ran into the store. "Shall we finish the job?" Prisma asked rhetorically. Avery said to Avacato, "Droid Avacato, It's time to shut down this place!" "Fine!" Avacato said. Then, Avacato's clothes flew off (You don't see anything), and were replaced by a more evil look. Avacato called out. "AVACATO PAPAYA MANGO ROTTEN FRUITS!!!" Black clouds of gas reached out into the store, and everyone who was a zombie fell asleep. One of the tentacles of gas reached out to Serena, and Serena saw it just in time. She dropped the carrot, and that's what the tentacle hit. Serena was frightened. Luna told her to transform. "MOON CRYSTAL POWER!!!!" Luna flew at the Droid, but was stopped short when Avacato knocked her away. Avacato called out, "Banana Saber!" A banana came out of her back, and it turned into a sharp blade. Avacato was ready to strike Luna, but she was stopped by a voice. "You have polluted this supermarket, and for that, you need to be stopped. And I'm just the one to do it! I'm Sailor Moon! I stand for love, and I also stand for justice! And in the name of the Moon, I will punish you! Only one place for rotten fruit like you: The compost heap!" Then, another appeared. "Here's Sailor Mars! Check this out!" Sailor Mars was riding in a shopping cart, and jumped out of it. The cart flew towards Avacato, and Avacato wasn't afraid. She called out again. "Avacato Smash!" A small pear-like piece of fruit (The Avacato?) flew at the cart, and it blew up into millions of tiny pieces. Prisma yelled, "Finish them off, now!" Avacato called out her next attack. "Guacamole Bomb!" The many bombs flew at Sailor Moon and Sailor Mars, and eventually hit them. As the Sailor Scouts were down, Avacato threw her next attack at them. "Rotten Egg Bomb!" The egg flew to its target, but stopped when a rose hit it. The egg split open. Everyone looked up, and in the window was Tuxedo Mask. "The stench of your rotten fruit cannot be tolerated! I will not allow your poison to contaminate this supermarket any longer!" "You tell her, Tuxedo Mask!" Sailor Moon shouted. Then, she said, "He's so hunky!" "Do you mind, Sailor Moon?" Sailor Mars said. "You're gonna make me gag." Tuxedo Mask attacked Avacato. They battled hard, and Sailor Mars yelled, "Hey there, Fruit Face! Why don't you leave him alone, and fight me?" "MARS CELESTIAL FIRE SURROUND!!!" Prisma saw the rings of fire, and put up a protective barrier to stop them. Avery and Prisma got ready to attack the Sailor Scouts. "Now, it's my turn to try!" Avery said. "Not yet!" Prisma interrupted. "I'm your older sister, so I get to go first!" "But, I'm more competent," Avery said, "so I get to go first!" Prisma and Avery began to argue, and then, three more forms came down. "The Sailor Scouts!" Prisma and Avery exclaimed. "You sisters make a great pair!" Jupiter said. "Yes." Mercury agreed. "You're a real dream team!" "Yeah, for sure!" Venus said. Meanwhile, Tuxedo Mask and Avacato were battling, and when Avacato tried to attack Tuxedo Mask, Tuxedo Mask threw his cane at Avacato, and it distracted her. "MOON SCEPTER ELIMINATION!!!" Avacato was reduced to a pile of dust. On the pile, the blue crystal went dead. "Uh, I think we've got another engagement." Prisma said. "But don't worry." Avery continued. "We'll be back, Sailor Scouts!" Prisma and Avery disappeared, and the Sailor Scouts had saved the supermarket. That night, Serena was in the kitchen at Dariens apartment (It's the same one). She was crying, and Rini asked, "Serena, what are you crying for?" "It's okay." Serena said, as she was cutting. "It's just the onions making me cry." Suddenly, Serena screamed, and she said, "Nothing to worry about, I just dropped this huge big pot on my foot!" Rini and Darien sighed. Serena suddenly began to fly around the kitchen, and in a few moments, the curry was done. It looked like it had been made by someone who was very sloppy, and when the plates reached the table, Darien said, "This is curry?" Serena laughed, and said, "I know it looks like garbage, but I'm sure it's fine. Just let me try some, first!" Serena downed the curry, and Darien and Rini watched tentatively as Serena chewed. She swallowed, and said, "Hey! This is really good!" Darien and Rini tried it, and Darien agreed. Rini just ate. "So, I passed the test?" Serena asked. "I can cook for tomorrow night?" "Yeah!" Rini replied, food in her mouth. "Can you make this every night?"
