Sailor Moon episode 76Episode title: Legend of the Negamoon Canadian Air date: 11/13/97 Crystal Tokyo, in its eternal darkness, spread out like a dead, lifeless expanse before Tuxedo Mask and the Sailor Scouts. The ruins of the great metropolis lie dormant, and among them, was the large Crystal Palace. "Aw, man! Is this place trashed!" Said Sailor Moon. "Sure you guys don't wanna go home? Catch detention, clean our rooms?" "This can't be our city!" Said Sailor Mars, looking out to the crystalline wasteland that lay before them. The Sailor Scouts looked around to see entire buildings encased in crystal, and ruins of all sorts. "It's...a frozen wasteland." Said Jupiter. "Where are all the people?" Wondered Venus. "It's so totally dead!" Said Sailor Mercury. "This is creepy!" Meanwhile, Rini was also looking across the barren landscape, and felt deep feelings of fear and regret. She remembered her mother as she had last seen her: Sleeping peacefully, but lost forever. Suddenly, Rini turned and ran into the mists, the Sailor Scouts calling for her to come back. The Sailor Scouts and Tuxedo Mask all ran after the child. When the Sailor Scouts and Tuxedo Mask had been searching, they came to a small road. On either side was a row of pillars. They stopped for a second to look around, and began to prepare themselves as they saw a silhouette walking towards them. The figure had a long cape, and appeared to be carrying a sword. Sailor Moon, the Sailor Scouts, and Tuxedo Mask all watched anxiously as the figure approached them. Sailor Mars got ready to fight, but Tuxedo Mask stopped her. Sailor Moon looked at the figure, and saw something familiar about it. "Tuxedo Mask?" Was all she could say. The figure was silent, and walked up to them. "Two Tuxedo Masks?" Sailor Moon said. "How can that be?" The figure walked up to them, and they could see it more clearly. He had a purple and white suit, and wore a mask over his eyes, just like Tuxedo Mask. The man stopped walking, and looked at the Sailor Scouts. "I wasn't sure you'd make it," said the man, "but welcome to thirtieth century Crystal Tokyo." Sailor Moon was shocked, as she recognized the voice. She remembered the dream she had where she and Darien were getting married. Just as they were about to kiss, the ground tore up from beneath them, and Serena was taken away from her love. "You've both had dreams where you were no longer together." Said the man. "Because if you were, our world would have been destroyed forever. And, Princess Serenity would have been placed in the greatest possible danger." "Now I remember you!" Said Sailor Moon. "You're that horrible voice in my dreams!" Tuxedo Mask attacked the man, but only passed through his body. Tuxedo Mask could see that the man was transparent. Tuxedo Mask fell to the ground. Mars asked what was happening, and the man said, "I need to talk to you. Let me introduce myself. Call me King of the Earth." Tuxedo Mask looked in shock. "You see," continued the King of the Earth, "I'm your future self, Darien." Tuxedo Mask was completely taken by the king's words. "My future self?" "He's Tuxedo Mask in the future?" Wondered Sailor Venus. Sailor Moon said, "This is way weird! Why would my Darien from the future try to bust us up? It just doesn't make any sense! I think this is a trap!" Mercury grabbed Sailor Moon's arm. "Hang on a second, Sailor Moon." She said. "I don't think he's real." "Right as always, Sailor Mercury." Said King of the Earth. "The image you're now seeing is just a projection of my real self." "He's a hologram!" Stated Mars. "The time has come for me to tell you everything." Said the King of the Earth, turning towards the end of the road that the Sailor Scouts had been searching. "Please follow me." He began to walk down the road. "Hey, wait a second!" Sailor Moon interjected. "Rini's missing! We gotta find her first!" "She's not missing." Said the King of the Earth. "She's at my place. Come." He continued on his way. "This is weird!" Sailor Moon said under her breath. "Sure is." Agreed Jupiter. "But hey, what if he does have Rini?" The Sailor Scouts chose to follow the King of the Earth. As they walked, they came to a large gate that led to the palace they had seen. Unknown to the Sailor Scouts, Prince Diamond was on the Negamoon, and was watching Sailor Moon walking. In the pedestal that Emerald had once used to project images, Diamond was using to show a picture of only Sailor Moon. "Sailor Moon is here now, in our time?" Sapphire said, panicking. Prince Diamond stared longingly, but seriously at the image. He thought of the Queen of Crystal Tokyo. She looks just like the Goddess that controls Crystal Tokyo! Diamond thought. The one I've been dreaming about ever since I saw her. Neo-Queen Serenity, the Sleeping Empress in the Crystal Palace. Sapphire and Emerald noticed Diamond's staring at Sailor Moon. "Prince Diamond." Sapphire said impatiently. Emerald was hiding her face behind her fan, and was snarling with anger. Get a clue! She thought to herself. How can he fall for that Meatball Head? Sapphire caught Emerald's attention, and said, "It's your fault the Sailor Bimbos are now here in Crystal Tokyo. You're gonna do something about it, or what?" "I'll go finish them off right away!" Emerald said, after snarling at Sapphire. She turned to leave. "That won't be necessary." Said Prince Diamond, stopping Emerald in her tracks. "I'll take care of her." "But, your highness!" Sapphire said, just as shocked by Diamond's words as Emerald. Diamond interrupted. "And, while I do," he said, "you two find Small Lady." Diamond turned around, and disappeared, leaving Emerald and Sapphire dazed and confused. Emerald threw her fan in anger at the image of Sailor Moon, and the image disappeared. Emerald's fan fell to the floor. I'll teach that mash potato brain a thing or two! Emerald thought angrily. Prince Diamond is mine! Meanwhile, in the Crystal Palace, the King of the Earth had led the Sailor Scouts to a circular room. It had an extremely high, domed ceiling, and there was a crescent moon symbol very high up above the doorway. "Where are we now?" Asked Tuxedo Mask. "This was once my secret tactical base." Replied the King of the Earth. "And to my knowledge, the enemy is still not aware of it." "Where's Rini?" Asked Sailor Moon. "Don't worry about her." Said the King. "She's safe for now. Now, you must listen to what I have to tell you about your future world." With that, the King of the Earth made a motion with his arm, and all around the Sailor Scouts, an image of outer space appeared. They looked with amazement, as the King of the Earth told his story. "The Earth was devastated by ecological disaster. The entire planet froze over, and all living beings were placed in a state of dormancy. They slept until the thirtieth century, when Neo-Queen Serenity came to the throne, and used the power of the Silver Crystal to re-awaken the planet. Earth was prosperous again, and Crystal Tokyo was the bustling hub of business and the arts. But, unfortunately, these prosperous times were not to last. Belligerent forces from beyond the universe appeared, intent on conquering Earth. After a lengthy and costly war, we repelled them. Some of our enemies accepted cleansing from the Silver Crystal, but most refused, and were banished into space. Crystal Tokyo was once again restored to peaceful times, until the Nemesis appeared." "What is Nemesis?" Asked Jupiter. "Nemesis is a mysterious rogue moon which appeared at the edge of our solar system, discovered just lately because of its erratic orbit." Replied the King of the Earth. "A rogue moon?" Said Luna. The King continued. "We only discovered it because of the enormous amount of negative energy it was emitting. Dangerous levels, far greater than the energy emitted by a White Dwarf or Pulsar." "And this is where our adversaries live?" Asked Artemis. "Yes." Replied the King. "Little by little, the people there absorbed the negative supernatural energy. From them, descended the family of the Negamoon, fearsome creatures with awesome powers. Then, not long ago, a huge burst of energy pulsed out from Nemesis, and attacked Crystal Tokyo. Our losses have been devastating. They've conquered almost the whole planet, and cast an evil spell upon the entire populace. Only myself, and the four guardians of the Crystal Palace are still awake. Sailor Mars, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus have been casting their energy to protect the palace." "How come they've got the same names we do?" Asked Sailor Mars. "Yeah." Added Venus. "What does it mean?" "They're your future selves." Replied the King. All the Sailor Scouts gasped in shock. "The Sailor Guardians can't hold out much longer against the Negamoon Overlord's evil powers. We desperately need your help. I've been wounded, and can no longer fight. Earth's only hope is if Neo-Queen Serenity uses the Silver Crystal to repel the Negamoon's evil powers. But, unfortunately, she was hit by the same evil sleep spell everyone else is under. If you don't help us, all will be lost. Please, help us!" The King, struggling with his strength for second, lifted what appeared to be a small scepter. "This Neo-Queen Serenity you speak of, who can use the Silver Crystal." Sailor Moon began. "Could she...could she be...could she be..." "Yes." Replied the King, smiling warmly. "Neo-Queen Serenity is your future self, Sailor Moon." Sailor Moon was taken aback. "What?!" She exclaimed, half excited. "I'm gonna be Queen of the Earth? And my first grade teacher said I wouldn't make it out of grade school!" She and Darien looked at each other. Next, the King showed the Sailor Scouts an image of Neo-Queen Serenity. She slept soundly, encased in crystal. Does she always wear her night gown in public? Thought Sailor Moon. Somebody oughta give her a fashion citation! "I know this must be quite a shock for you." Said the King. Mercury was looking closely at the crystal encasing the Queen. "Excuse me, your majesty." Mercury said. "But, what's that substance wrapped around the Queen?" "Could it be..." Artemis began. "...Silver Crystal?" Luna finished. "No." Replied the King. "It's quartz. A moment before the evil spell hit the Queen, the Sailor Soldiers cast their powers, and encased her in a protective quartz shell. Since then, the Queen has fallen into a deep sleep, and never awakened. There's more." He raised his small scepter, and looked away from the Sailors. "Queen Serenity and I have a daughter. She's known as Small Lady." "What?!" Sailor Moon exclaimed. "Wait a second! This is way too weird!" Just then, the image of Neo-Queen Serenity disappeared, and a shadow appeared in front of them. A light shone on it, and it was Rini. She was lying still, asleep. Sailor Moon knelt down, and picked the child up, cradling her. The King of the Earth smiled. "Come on, honey, wake up!" Sailor Moon said. "Rini, are you okay?" "Sailor Moon, Tuxedo Mask." Called the King. "You should know that she's your daughter." Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask both wrenched backwards. "Me, a parent?" Said Sailor Moon. "No wonder this little brat annoys me so much!" She and Tuxedo Mask looked at each other. "She takes after you!" She said to Tuxedo Mask. "Don't ya think?" She and Tuxedo Mask looked at each other, then looked at the King, glowing bright red. Jupiter: "Rini's the daughter of..." Mercury: "...Sailor Moon and..." Venus: "...Tuxedo Mask? Wicked cool!" "I know all of this must be overwhelming for you," said the King, "but, you just had to know. There is no other way. Her favorite bed time story was a legend about the courageous and mighty Sailor Soldier, who always stood for love and justice, Sailor Moon." (They show Sailor Moon in her Super form from "Sailor Moon S" though her face is shadowed.) "I'm sure that's why she went back to the past. To get you to help us in our fight against the family of the Negamoon. They're very powerful, and determined to get the Silver Crystal, and use it to conquer the entire universe. Since they found our crystal palace to be totally invincible, they're trying to destroy the world of your time instead." "So, if the world of the past collapses..." Said Luna. "...This world will cease to exist!" Finished Artemis. "Please," pleaded the King, "you must make every effort to defend your world." The Sailor Scouts all nodded with affirmation. "Sailor Moon. Tuxedo Mask." The King stated again. "You were right. I was the one who gave you those recurring nightmares. I hope you'll forgive me. It really was for your own good. This battle with the Negamoon will be the most difficult thing you've ever done in your entire lives. To win, I had to make sure your affection for each other was strong and true. It was important for me to test you both." "And, we passed the test, right?" Sailor Moon said, looking to Tuxedo Mask while still holding Rini. "The Overlords of the Negamoon will try to turn you on each other." Warned the King. "You must never doubt each other, no matter what happens." He glided closer to Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask. "Sailor Moon." He said. "Tuxedo Mask. Please protect Rini with your lives." He placed his hand on Rini's cheek. "I love her so much, but I can no longer protect her." "Don't worry." Tuxedo Mask said, putting his hand on the King's. "I promise to protect her at all costs." Tuxedo Mask's look of determination touched the King of the Earth deeply. "It's very strange, and yet, comforting talking to my other self." The King admitted. "I leave her to you." Then, the King of the Earth disappeared. Without warning, a black wind began blowing throughout the chamber, catching the Sailor Scouts and Tuxedo Mask off guard. "The King thought I didn't know about this place." Said Prince Diamond as he appeared. "What a fool he is." Diamond chuckled. From the ground, Sailor Moon shouted, "I demand to know! Who are you?" Could it be, that she looks at me with those same beautiful eyes? Diamond thought to himself. As he looked at Sailor Moon, he couldn't help but visualize Neo-Queen Serenity. Now, she'll only have eyes for me! With that, Diamond's eyes changed, and the Negamoon crescent on his forehead turned, and changed into a third eye. The eye glowed, and Diamond called out. "I want you to go with me now, Sailor Moon." The room was filled with energy, and the Sailor Scouts felt an enormous pressure on them. They couldn't move, and Sailor Moon was feeling the effects of Diamond's third eye. Diamond laughed. "Come to me!" He said. With that, Sailor Moon began to levitate, and lifted towards Diamond, still holding Rini. When Sailor Moon got close to Diamond, Tuxedo Mask got his cane out, and threw it at Diamond. Diamond lost his concentration, and Sailor Moon stopped moving, but dropped Rini. Tuxedo Mask caught the child, and Prince Diamond simply activated his third eye. Sailor Moon, still floating, turned to try to get back to her friends, but Diamond grabbed her arm. "So," he said, "Small Lady's here too. No problem. My minions can have her, it's you I want!" Sailor Moon made the mistake of looking at Diamond, and fell under his control. They disappeared. Tuxedo Mask told the Sailor Scouts to take care of Rini, and just then, the King of the Earth appeared. "Don't panic, Tuxedo Mask." He said calmly. "You'll find her. I know where they're going." Tuxedo Mask felt anger welling up inside him. Serena woke up on a bed. She was in a dress that looked exactly like the one worn by Neo-Queen Serenity. She searched, panic stricken, for her locket, and found it on the bed beside her. She tried to get up, but felt very weak. She looked around, and saw Prince Diamond standing at the entrance to the room. "I gave you your first energy boost from the Dark Crystal." Said the Prince. "Most people would have been asleep for days, but not you. I'm not surprised. You're Sailor Moon. And, now that you're awake, why don't we get to know each other?" "Well," Serena said, "who are you?" "My name is Prince Diamond." He replied. "And, I've waited a very long time to meet you, Sailor Moon. Or, should I call you would be Neo-Queen Serenity? It sounds so formal. How about I just call you Serena?" With that, he stuck his hand out towards Sailor Moon, and it glowed. An aura of light appeared around Serena, and lifted her into the air. She tried to transform, but the locket didn't work. "The Silver Crystal is completely powerless when it's near the Dark Crystal, so don't even bother to try." Diamond said, teleporting up to Serena. Serena wondered what the Dark Crystal was. "In time," said Diamond, "you will come to know the deep, abiding power of the Dark Crystal, dear Sailor Moon. It absorbs all other power. Now, look at me!" Diamond's eyes flashed, and Serena felt pain, as she was hit by the power. Diamond grabbed her chin, and said, "You and I are going to become good friends, so you'd better learn to like this room. 'Cause it's going to be your home for a long, long time." Serena tried her best to fight Diamond's power. "Prince Diamond." Serena said. "Why is our little old planet so important to you?" "Simple." Replied Diamond. "Once I combine the power of your Silver Crystal with the power of the Dark Crystal, I can control time, space, the universe is mine!" Serena gasped. Meanwhile, Tuxedo Mask was flying over Crystal Tokyo on a hang glider. He was flying towards a large crystalline shape. "I will be the strongest force in the history of time!" Diamond proclaimed to Serena. "The most powerful man ever! I want you by my side." "Dream on, pal!" Serena shot. "That's never gonna happen!" "I think maybe you need to get to know me a little better." Diamond replied, undaunted. He opened his third eye again, and it weakened Serena. "You see, my queen," Diamond said, "I'm really quite...irresistible." Just then, Tuxedo Mask rushed in. "Serena!" Darien? Serena said in her thoughts. Diamond had her under his control, and she could no longer comprehend reality. Was that my imagination? Diamond drew Serena slowly closer to him. No. It was too far away, I was only dreaming! She thought. I've got to save myself! I feel so weak! My powers won't work! She was drawn, closer still, to Prince Diamond. I'm all alone. Darien, where are you? As she asked her question, she began to cry, as she was drawn even closer to Diamond's face. Tuxedo Mask was approaching them quickly. This isn't right! Sailor Moon said, being drawn closer and closer to Diamond's lips. Darien is the only one for me! As she said that, a tear fell from her eye... Diamond's hold was broken. A red flash of light had appeared, and disturbed Diamond's concentration. He looked up to see Tuxedo Mask. Serena fell down to the bed. "Only an evil coward would need to rely on the use of hypnotic powers to win girls over against their will!" Tuxedo Mask said. "You're disgusting!" "Enough with the lectures, you clod!" Shouted Diamond, his third eye once again the Negamoon crescent. He opened his third eye again, and shot a beam at Tuxedo Mask. Tuxedo Mask blocked it with his cape, and Diamond, sure he had the upper hand, began to advance on the caped crusader. Suddenly, Diamond's third eye backfired on him, and began to create massive swirling winds all around the room. Tuxedo Mask extended his cane down to Serena, who grabbed on. Tuxedo Mask retracted the cane, and left with Serena out of a hole in the wall, while Diamond was left to deal with is third eye. Tuxedo Mask and Serena got onto the hang glider that Tuxedo Mask used to get to Diamond's palace, and Emerald watched as they got away. Sapphire appeared behind her. "Gotta hand it to you." He said. "You've got a lot of nerve, defying the prince, letting Sailor Moon escape." Emerald was mildly shocked by Sapphire's words. "Who, little ol' me?" She said rhetorically. "Now, why would I ever let our enemy escape, Sapphire?" "There's a little thing called jealousy." Sapphire replied. "And, once a woman becomes jealous, she can be capable of anything. You're happy to see Sailor Moon get away from Diamond, aren't you?" Emerald was even more affected by those words, but she laughed. "Jealous of that mangy little string bean?" She shot back. "You've gotta be kidding! Besides, I'd never deceive my prince!" "I wish you'd forget about him, Emerald," Sapphire said, smiling softly, "and give the guy who has true feelings for you a chance." Emerald was confused (Looks kind of cute that way). "Don't make this harder for me, Emerald." Said Sapphire. Emerald hid her face behind her fan, and smiled wryly. "Well, well, well!" She said to herself. "Poor, misguided Sapphire!" She turned around, and she and Sapphire both looked at the Crystal Palace. Meanwhile, Serena and Tuxedo Mask arrived at the Crystal Palace. They were hugging each other lovingly. "The King told me we should both be prepared." Tuxedo Mask said. "The worst kind of difficulties are still ahead of us." "Whatever happens," Serena said, "we'll always be together."
