One day, during a fighting tournament of the Amazons, Ranma happened by and had a bite to eat, not knowing that what he was eating was the prize for the tournament. Shampoo, the (inside) victor, was to claim her prize but saw Ranma and Genma chowing down. An arrangement was made, and Shampoo ws to fight Ranma. Of course, Ranma won, and Shampoo quickly gave her the kiss of death.
In her attempt to kill Ranma, she followed Ranma to Japan and while there, was defeated by male Ranma. So now, she had to marry male Ranma while killing female Ranma. After several attempts to remove Akane from Ranma's life, Ranma decided to reveal to Shampoo his aquatranssexuality. Shampoo saw this and ran off to China. On her return to China, she went back into training at Jusenkyo and fell into the Spring Of Drowned Cat.
Shampoo learned to live with her curse, and moved with her Great Grandmother, Cologne, to Tokyo and opened a Ramen Shop. Soon after, her jealous suitor Mousse followed and moved to Tokyo also. Now, Shampoo and Cologne now conspire to keep Ranma as her fiance and her future husband.
