Ok, ok, I know it is sort of pushing it to call Alan a villian, and there might be moonies out there who would object, but I really wanted an excuse to show cool pics of Alan (who I think doesn't get nearly as much credit as he deserves) and to play the awesome flute music which you are (hopefully) listening to. I am going to be refering to the villian with his US name, Alan (instead of his Japanese name, which I think is Ali). Also, my apologies, but this particular villian will probably be up for a while because I have so much to work on on my page. In about a month things should get more regular. If you have any good pics of villians or if I have any spelling mistakes or *gasp* errors in my facts, please email me.
"Who is Alan exactly? Well, Alan is one of two antagonists for the
first part of Sailor Moon R. He is an alien, and he came to earth with
his fellow alien Anne to look for energy. Anne and Alan were both born of a
tree which they refer to as the Doom Tree, which replenishes their energy.
In turn, Anne and Alan must then feed the Doom Tree energy. In order to steal
human energy, the aliens first choose a cardian (monster) from a deck of Tarot
card. Anne always selects the cardian and then Alan plays a flute-like instrument
to bring the cardian to life. This monster is sent out to find energy which it
is then expected to bring back to Anne and Alan.
Anne and Alan attend Serena's
school disguised as humans. They also pretend to be brother and sister, with
a common last name of Granger. Throughout the course of part one of the Sailor
Moon R series, Anne falls in love with Darien (who wouldn't?) and Alan falls
for Serena. Yet at the same time they care for each other. There are several
amusing episodes in this time frame where Anne and Alan are trying frantically
to get the oblivious Serena and Darian's attention, at the same time making
each other incredably jealous.
At the very end of the first half of the series, Sailor Moon and
Darien are trapped by Anne and Alan in their appartment building (the rest
of the scouts are also eventually trapped there). Anne and Alan discover that
Serena is Sailor Moon, and the aliens keep attacking
the heros with their super-powers. There are some heart-breaking clips here,
when Sailor Moon stands in front of Darian to protect him from the blasts. *sob*
Anyway, the Doom Tree eventually goes
bazerk and attacks Alan, who is saved by Anne at the cost of her life. Alan cries
over Anne's body, and realizes he truely loves her. Then the Doom Tree 'talks' to
everyone, telling them her story: she was once actually called the Tree of Life,
and she created her 'children' (the aliens of Anne and Alan's race) so that she could have someone
to talk to. However, her children turned on her and ended up distroying themselves with
their greed. Anne, Alan, and the tree escaped, but the tree was very weak and Ann and Alan
thought the only way it could survive was with evil energy. Too bad they didn't realize
all it neaded was love.
The tree heals Anne, and then Sailor Moon cleanses it of its negative energy, leaving only a small sapling. Anne and Alan pick up the sapling and leave, determined to start over and do things right this time, by only giving the tree positive energy.
Don't you just love that flute?
