Here are some ideas for lessons not necessarily related to Australia but that we think you could use anyway. Designed for classes at primary, junior high and senior high schools in Japan. |
Making Cards |
This can be as simple or as difficult as you like. Making cards is a fun way to spend a Christmas lesson or to make sure that you get birthday cards on your birthday because you just know most of your friends and family have forgotten to get that card to you in the post. You can also make cards for Valentine's Day, Father's and Mother's Days and for other occasions such as Congratulations. For younger students, make up a template card and have the students colour it in or decorate it however they like. For older students - give them a list of things that they can write in their card (such as greetings) and explain what they mean. Ask them to draw, colour and give the card to the person they made it for. Alternatives for incorporating more English into the lesson - give the students a blank piece of paper and tell them how to fold it, what to draw and where to draw it in English. The students can then be given the freedom to change bits, add colour and create their own message for the card (give them examples though to help those that aren't into creative English).
