June 2002; 15x15 inches; mixed media
My second semester final for Advanced Drawing. We had to draw ten facial features as one of our homework assignments, and during the last period the teacher assigned us a random word and told us to create a piece using the word and the little drawings. My word was "stairs." See the abstraction? |
| Or?
November 2002; 18x24 inches; acrylics
My best shot at abstraction. Originally it was intended to be telephone wires and trees, later became peas, olives and chopsticks. You have your choice of interpretation. Hence the title. |
| Reflection
November 2002; 11x14 inches; acrylics
This was done as a birthday gift for my grandma. I'm quite fond of the blending and the reflections in the water. The log in the foreground, however, is a different question... |
| Mexican
November 2002; 9x12 inches; colored pencil
A close up drawing of a Mexican mask that was hanging in the school gallery. The smaller eye is from a different mask, also from the same gallery. |

September 2002; 14x20 inches; watercolor
A very cliche painting, but what can I say? I had no inspiration, no creativity, but needed to something to do in art class. Blah. |
| Green Bay, View on Washington Island
February 2002; 8x12 inches; gouache
We went to Door County for Christmas 2001. A very...interesting vacation. This is my so-called tribute to it. How I love gouache. |
| View on the Peter-and-Paul Fort, St. Petersburg
December 2001; 12x18 inches; watercolor
A watercolor project for art class. A little scene from my hometown, it is. And don't ask about the ducks. I don't know what made me put them in there ^^;;; |
| Summer
July 6, 2001; 8x12 inches; watercolor, gouache
One of my first experiments with gouache. I originally wanted to do the whole thing in watercolor, but then messed up bit time on the bottom part of the tree and the leaves. And so gouache was introduced into my life. Hip-hip hooray. |

June 2001; 8x12 inches; watercolor
Second semester final for my freshman art class. We had to draw three words from a hat and combine them somehow. I got "good," "soft," and "skate." Gum is good and soft, and there you have a skate. How terribly original. |

May 2001; 8x12 inches; watercolor
A watercolor from my freshman art class. The assignment was to take two objects that means something to us and draw them somewhat up close. I like my pen and my watch, yes I do. |
| Lemmings
April 26, 2001; 8x12 inches; colored pencils
One of my personal favorites, I must say. We had to draw something (I think it had to be an animal) and progressively abstract it into a pattern. I remember how I was working on the second lemming (the one that's bottom center) during a student council assembly, and a guy told me that I must hire him as my agent ^^v. Warm fuzzy memories. |
