Ikebana -- Flower Arrangement.
At first, everybody was given a set of plants.
The sensei was going around the tables to explain all about the plants and how to arrange the (flowers) the Japanese way. She said, "Japanese Flower Arrangement is unique since it combines three elements -- man, nature and the creator. The person who arranges the 'flower' should find an angle and work his/her arrangement from there."
"This branch is too thick. I need your help to cut it using a special pair of scissors," said the sensei. "Please remember to cut the flowers in the water provided in front of you so that they (the flowers) would be fresh longer."
"At the bottom of the branch you just cut, please, again, cut it across about 5 mm. Press it against the flower base (metal with nails) in a slightly slanting position so that the metal would strongly grip the branch," she advised me. "
Try it."
