The purpose of this student organization is to provide a place to interact youth, to be worship to Buddha teaching, to expose and educate the Laotian Community and all Buddhists to the teaching of Buddha, to practice generosity, morality and meditation, to cultivate and preserve the customes of the Laotian Culture, to create a programs intend to foster the development of good moral character, and to collect and disseminate information about Buddhism and Buddhist Culture.
To participate with the Laotian Community and reach out to the younger generation. To seeks out for the needs of the Buddhist Temple and for the sake of the organization. In order to create a smooth transition to the temple and the youth needs, the organization should conduct a research and investigation and find a better solution to the Laotian Community as a whole. Your commitment and dilication to the temple will keep up our temple in the top rank in the United States.
To archieve the aboved goals, the temple and WatLao Buddhavat Student Organization will engage in activities to accommodate the needs of the growing population of Southeast Asian in the greater of New England. It is the intent of this organization to provides intensive counseling and support services to inner city kids and their families who are at need for higher education and an understanding of their heritage. The program's counselors and assistants work with young kids and families helping them learn to overcome problem such as: lack of self-confidence, minority in higher education, and heritage servicing difficulties. The program is implemented to:
1.) Educating our youths who will truly be our
great leaders of the future;
2.) Enhancing an understanding of their heritage (cultural)
and broaden their cross cultural perceptions in a positive way;
3.) Providing physical activities in the form
of sports, games, and recreational endeavors to promote physical wellness;
4.) Providing families counseling to assist families experiencing emotional,
spiritual, psychological, and financial difficulties. Many activities
are also carried out to bridge the cultural barriers due to the diversity
by bring together youths from different backgrounds as well as participating
in the cultural activities (e.g. classical dancing and etc.).
