I know that a lot of people see Kurama and Hiei as "lovers" but according to me and Yoshihiro Togashi, they're not. So I have written a fanfic that is: Not yaoi, not hentai or any of those things. It might be a little bit romantic, but that ain't my problem. (well it is, since I wrote this. Oh well...)
Also, there is a character in here named Verai. She is not related to YYH as far as I can tell, I just use her because I use her name in all the RPGs that I play, and the name is nifty. In this story, Verai is a 20 year old freshman in college.

It was January, the beginning of a new year. Verai looked up into the clouds, wondering if this semester was going to be any different than the last. She looked around her, and noticed a black swish on the roof of her school. Maybe I'm not getting enough sleep. Or maybe I need to quit my Kung Fu class, she thought as she trudged towards school.
"Finally! As if lunch couldn't get here any sooner!" Verai jumped from her desk and ran out the door. She couldn't wait to get a steaming hot lunch from the nearby burger shop. Then she saw the black wisp again. "Who the hell is that?" Verai saw the dark swish go from building to building. Her hunger forgotten, she chased after the shadow.
"Huh? Someone's following me." Hiei jumped from the building to an alley way. He knew that he was faster that any human eye could see. "Why is this person following me? Could she be a youkai?" So he waited there to see if he was just paranoid or if someone had actually followed him.
"Where did it go?" Verai raced down the road, wondering where the shadow had gone. Then she saw a shadow behind an alley way. "Aha! There you are!" She started walking towards the shadow. Then all of a sudden a figure stood in front of her, with a katana in the ready position. The shadow uttered, "Who are you? How did you find me?" Verai froze. She had never seen someone with a katana before. She saw stuff like this on TV, but now she was the victim, and she freaked. But those red eyes looked so dreamy...
"I'm Verai..." Those eyes. She just couldn't stop looking at them. Hiei looked at her and thought, Foolish human. I need to be more careful next time I go jumping around. Then Verai snapped back to reality and asked him, "Who are YOU?" Hiei stared at her with contempt, but decided to humor her for now. "I'm... Vincent." "Oh. Hello Vincent." Verai looked at her watch. It was time to go back. When she looked up, Hiei, or "Vincent" was gone. Must have been a dream...
A week passed by without Verai seeing that mysterious red-eyed man. But, she had to admit, he was cute.
"Well Hiei, what took you?" Kuwabara was being a dumb-ass, as usual. "I had some... setbacks," Hiei said, without even looking at him. Yusuke looked at them both then smiled. "Come on you guys. We have to fugure out what's going on. We know that somewhere in this city there is a youkai gang and we're going to have to deal with them if we want to go back to what we usually do. Lord Koenma wouldn't have asked us if it wasn't this serious." Kuwabara just sighed and said, "We might as well try to bite our rears. We can't just flush them out." Kurama, the calm and polite fox demon had another idea. "Why don't we just observe the locals. We know that some youkai can brainwash weak humans." Even though he was a busybody, Hiei had to admit, Kurama was pretty smart. "Alrighty then," Yusuke said. "Let's go."
That's it for now, wait until I come up with chapter 2!
