Kurama is another main character and probably one of the most popular characters from this cartoon. When he's in his human form, he has long red hair and large green eyes. He used to be an infamous thief named Youko Kurama with long silver hair and golden eyes but a bunch of Reikai cops/police officers/hunters/whatever almost killed him. So to save himself, he went inside the body of a pregnant woman named Minamino Shiori, and he became her son Minamino Shuichi. The Youko Kurama part has been alive for over 1000 years (at least that's what it sez in my books: he knew Yomi 1000 years ago), but in the beginning of the story, the Shuichi part has only been alive for 15.

Anyway, at first mean old Kurama thought that after his powers recovered (this would take roughly 10 years), he would leave his parents and run away from home but Shiori loved him so much that he couldn't just leave her. So when she became sick, he stole the mirror from Reikai to make a wish to make her well again in exchange for his life. Yusuke stopped Kurama from doing this and offered his own life to the mirror too because Yusuke said that seeing your mother cry because of your own death is not a very pretty picture (I just loved it when Yusuke said that, it really showed how nice he was) so neither Yusuke nor Kurama died but the wish was still fulfilled. :)

Kurama is calm, smart, polite, kind and patient but whenever anyone he loves is being hurt, his personality changes entirely, and he becomes cold and emotionless. He seemed to be two people in one until the end when he decided it was better to be human and then after the human part died, he could be a youko for as long as he liked (close to the end, his power was as much as an A-class youkai, the 2^nd most powerful class). In his human form, he is good friends with everyone and doesn't have any enemies. In his youkai form, he has tons of enemies (including Yomi because he once ordered Yomi to be assassinated cuz Yomi was too much of a blockhead). A lot of people also think that he and Hiei are "more than friends" but I had no idea that they were when I read the manga...oh well. Kurama is one of my favorite characters, too.
