The Family

This is Maruko-chan! She's in the third grade and is usually late for school. She hangs out a lot with her friend, tama-chan (see School Friends). She is not very neat and usually just leaves her clothes hanging around in her and her sister's room (they share rooms). She is always happy and has many friends. You could say that I look like her but I am older. But I am as lively as she is!

This is Maruko-chan's sister. She and Maruko-chan fights a lot but other than that, they get along fine. Her sister is in the sixth grade. She is a neat and tidy person, just the opposite of Maruko-chan!

This is Maruko-chan's mom. Grandma and her like to collect lots of things such as empty containers and bottle caps. She is usually fed up with Maruko-chan because she is always so lazy.

This is Maruko-chan's dad. He gets drunk once in a while but he doesn't go bizarre. He is a kind loving dad.

This is Maruko-chan's grandma. She likes to collect things and knows what's good for the human body. Once Maruko-chan found ants in the cupboard and her grandma said, "Ants are good for your body." and all sorts of things like that. She didn't think that she would live that long but she did, meaning that all the stuff she said was true!

This is Maruko-chan's grandpa. He is a very strange but nice guy. He has a pet turtle and loves Maruko-chan's company. On Sundays he and Maruko-chan like to sit and watch TV.
