June 27th, 2000 Summary of trip to LA: First off.. I gotta say hats off to danny.. it was a great trip and I had a lot of fun. Yeap.. anyway.. this summary's gonna make danny sound very "sway".. but what happened.. happened..
Day 1:
Day 2: That pretty much took out most of the happiness for the day. In order to eat lunch, we walked to this fast food store and had a few burgers. I think the place was call "in & out" and the burgers were oishi. Anyway.. we headed home to watch the game and that pretty much was the day.
Day 3..4...5...6: May 29th, 2000
Well, initially I was going to use all the ASP (active server pages) and database operations I learned through my Information
Systems courses. BUT.. geocities didn't support ASP and thus screwed me up after I was almost done with it and was testing it
online. SO.. I'm back with this normal layout with no fancy fancy MIS stuff. Summer School's been going well.. nothing much happening and I'm just chilling.. can't wait to go to LA in June to visit danny and peps.
April 9th, 2000 Well, I decided on what to do. I will be going to Roswell, Georgia this August and start working for Kimberly Clark Corporation on September 1st. Fortunately, KC was able to offer me a position down at Roswell (15-20 minutes from Atlanta) instead of the position at Appleton, WI. The nature of my job will be a database analyst - client-server database operations. It's pretty much what my acedemics have been focusing on so that's cool with me. In short, I'll be in Georgia for the next 2 or 3 years, depending on whether I go to grad school at Georgia or some other place. So.. I'm all set for the next few years and I'm looking forward to it. Though I don't know anyone down there at Roswell, I guess I would be busy working and studying for my gmat and stuff anyway. I have 7 days of vacation on the first year and 14 on the second, so I'll probably try to go back to taiwan when I could. I guess the latest news isn't the fact that i accepted KC's offer, but that I shaved my head. Always thought about doing something crazy, but never did. Oh well, I figured that I had a few months until I will be working full-time so I might as well do it now. =P I'll see if I can get my hands on pics I took before and after shaving my head. March 27th, 2000 As some of you close to me might know, this week is "decision" week. Just to update you guys if you don't know what I'm talking about - I got an offer from Kimberly Clark Corporation as an MIS analyst at Appleton, Wisconsin (near Green Bay, northern WI). Overall, the offer is decent with the downside being staying here in WI. The upside to it is that KC is a well-established Fortune 200 company with net sales of 13B and a good career development program. I guess the main question is: Do I want to stay in the middle of nowhere for another year or two? Doing a little survey myself, I found two main responses when I asked people what I should do. Interestingly, people who were 3+ years older than me told me that KC would be a good company to start my career despite the location. On the other hand, people of my or lower age said that I should get out of the midwest. I can relate to both suggestions and quite frankly, I'm leaning towards accepting the offer. But before I do that, I will try to make a stand - negotiate for something haha =). March 20th, 2000
Spring break: Monday: Checked out this street with all these shops (Neuberry? Strawberry? Blueberry Street? Don't remember.) Met up with jason and michelle at Harvard Square to have dinner. Hanged out at Wellesley. Stayed over at Tim's place. Tuesday: Ate at little italy. Checked out Quincy market where a group of 98s recognized us. Ate at a korean restaurant. Stayed at Tim's place. Wednesday: Took the Amtrak to get down to New York. Got to jason's grandparent's apartment in queens. Went to Flushing's chinatown for lunch. Had dinner at queens cantonese restaurant. Thursday: Shopping on 5th avenue. Didn't spend much - about $100. Mainly window shopping and site seeing. Friday: Checked out the St. Patrick's day parade. Met up with laurie, sandy, and patsun for dinner. Later we all watched Chicago. That's pretty much it. Chicago was pretty good. Saturday: Jason and michelle left for Indiana already. I was left alone in NYC. Yet, I was determined. Determined to do all the shopping I wanted to. Spent like $500 at Soho and midtown. Still kind of feel unsatisfied, but I know I shouldn't spend anymore money. Sunday: Flew back home in the morning. March 10th, 2000 Well, it's finally spring break. I will be heading off to Boston and New York for a six day trip. Sounds good huh? Yet, there's a better story behind all this. During senior year of HS (or was it junior?) Danny, Lawrence, and I planned a trip to Hong Kong during the winter break. Right before we left, we all went to school to play a little basketball. While playing in a very competitive and hyped up game, I hustled and tried to save a ball that was flying out of bounds. Unfortunately, my left foot landed on the edge of an elevated platform and *crack*, I twisted my ankle BAD. I couldn't walk at all after busting my ankle and needless to say, I didn't play anymore basketball for the day. Despite all that, I still managed to go to HK and have a good shopping spree. Ok. Back to the present. As I mentioned, I'll be heading off to Boston and New York. Dig this ok? Life always has to bring a twist to your life. As I usually do, I work out and play a little basketball every Friday. Basketball. Going on a trip. Ring a bell? Well yeah, I twisted my ankle while making the game tier. How bad? Nothing new. Can't walk; just hop; still determined to go to Boston and New York. March 5th, 2000
While being Yeap, well spring break is just around the corner and I have 3 exams right before it. Don't really know why i'm slacking off here and not studying, but to hell with it. What am I doing for spring break? As for now, I will be in Boston and New York City. Quite sure actually. As some of us are graduating soon, it seems like job hunting and where we would relocate to are becoming hot topics. As for me, I just had a second interview with Kimberly Clark Corporation with relocation options at Atlanta, Georgia and Neenah, Wisconsin. Despite both cities not being where I really want to be in the future, being in Atlanta for 2 or 3 years doesn't sound that bad given that it's a big city. Yet, it would be nicer to live on the west coast. Oh well, we'll see how things turn out. If I get an offer, it might mean that I will be going to Atlanta. January 25th, 2000 Well.. I finally updated this page huh?.. yeap.. I actually kinda wanted to make more images and stuff.. but then i promised some people that i would have this updated by the weekends.. yet then.. i've got so much work to do.. so i guess i'll just settle with this new design.. So it's year 2000 already.. Y2K proved to be nothing.. at least to most of us.. I guess some of us were hoping for a black out or some natural disaster to occur.. but to our disappointment.. new year's eve was just like every other one.. (drinking at 5 star) Taiwan was fun afterall though.. minus the part when everyone left me there to fa dai alone after jan 9th.. AND minus the part of my jordans being stolen.. taking those two parts out.. I had a pretty good time.. but I think my liver couldn't stand another trip.. So what's new these days huh? Honestly not much.. school recently started for me and it's been hell.. quizes on the second class and exams in 2 weeks.. other than that.. everything's still the same.. back to the loner style in the damn cold midwest.. I guess there's more activities happening among my friends.. danny's pretty much a full-time raver now since he's not taking any classes at the moment.. daniel's too busy with his vivian that I don't see him online that often anymore (even during the nights!!).. jason's also busy with his michelle.. other than that.. he won't tell us jack shit... steven must be back to his same usual "i hope i get this girl" life style.. tim? i heard he was pimping on one of my friend's friend.. info may be inaccurate.. but oh well.. that pretty much summarizes what's going on among ya all.. obviously there's more life and action in their lives compared to mine |
