| Kodomo No Omocha is a great series. Sometimes called Kodocha for short, the translation is Child's Toy. Starting right out, Sana wakes up late for school (she has the cutest alarmclock!) Her mother refuses to let her leave without eating, so she is starting out to be really late. Rei-kun her manager boyfriend and pimp (she calls him her pimp because she gives him her allowance so he'll work for her) is going to give her a ride to school. Her mother tells him to drive carefully. Carefully for Rei means about 1 mile an hour. The people on the street are walking faster! She arrives at school and her classroom is a mess! Her teacher doesn't know how to control the boys who are being lead by the 'boss monkey' Hayama Akito. After school Sana has a job, she is a child actress on a show called Zenjirou's Kodocha, while they are taping it she goes into detail about Hayama and what was happening at school. Everyone from her school was watching it including Hayama and his monkey followers. Her mother explains that she could be in big trouble for what she said but Sana doesn't care, she thinks they are just monkeys. Rei is worried about her and gives her a vibrating pager. (severly vibrating!) She walks towards school but is stopped by the gang and they are going to beat her up. At first she doesn't think this is very nice but then she starts to think how she would be retired get lots of publicity and Rei-kun would take her away to Hawaii (I think that was what it was) but then the press would find her. Unfortunately during her imaginitive display she forgot the boys. Just then Hayama walked by and told them to leave her alone. She went to school and tried to get the class in line. She finds they are using squirt guns filled with ink. |
| When the teacher goes and gets another teacher (a guy teacher) they can't do anything because Hayama starts to pull a picture out of his pocket. Sana, however, decides it's time to stop and squirts Hayama in the eye with the squirt gun. It's war from then on. Hayama has her locked on the roof until she becomes late. Fortunately her vibrating pager comes in handy and she is saved by Rei-kun. Hayama gets his first look at Sana's boyfriend/pimp, who he starts refering to as 'sunglasses' (because Rei is always seen with Sunglasses). Sana's mother tells her that what she has to do is to find his weak spot and expose it. (Sana's mother has weird hairstyles that usually have a squirrel in there called Maro-chan). Sana tries to find his weakspot but it doesn't seem that he is afraid of anything. He makes the mistake of torturing one of Sana's friends for calling him a devil child. This made his good friend Tsuyoshi (who has a crush on Sana) turn against him and tell Sana his weak spot. It turns out that he's afraid of heights. She gets her mother's mail order bungee jumping set and sets it up in the gym. Sana feels great because she isn't afraid of heights. Akito jumps first and says hmph. Sana jumps and everyone thinks she is going to win but as she falls she starts screaming. Then she admits that although she loves heights she's never fallen from them before. The deal was then that she had to stay out of Hayama's way. Sana won't let a little thing like that get her down. When she realises that Hayama is blackmailing the teachers with a picture (supposedly of them kissing but the picture was never shown and they said it was horrible *Tsuhoshi was blushing!*). |
| Sana enlists Tsuyoshi to help her, they go to his house which is the first time Sana has been there and they are waiting for him. This was the first time that Sana realises that Hayama has family trouble. His sister kicks him out of the house and calls him the devil. Hayama is leaving and Sana feels guilty but she doesn't let that get her down for long. Tsuyoshi runs to Hayama and pulls his pants down while Sana takes a picture. then Rei-kun took the picture away and the end to Hayama's reign as boss monkey begins. Just when Sana thinks things will be back to normal another kid takes over as Boss Monkey. Sana tells Hayama to stop them but they won't listen to him anymore thinking he is weak. The new leader starts to beat up on Hayama but Sana tells them not to fight. The only one listening is Hayama so he is being beat up. On taking another punch Sana asks him how come he couldn't block such a weak punch and he admits he can't block. Sana allows him one punch and he uses it well. The boys follow Hayama again and the classroom goes back to normal. Sana is happy until she realises that Hayama has become a lone wolf. She tries to make him hang out with others, all the while realising that his home life is horrible. Sana is starting a drama that at first she thinks is too depressing but on seeing how much it mirrors Hayama's life she decides to give it her all for Hayama's sake. |
| Sana is playing the little sister in a made for TV movie about two sisters and the mother became sick after having the second. Sana is starring with another actress who Sana idolises. Rei for some reason keeps disappearing. Sana tells the Hayama Family that they have to watch her drama as a family. When it finally comes on though it seems that the father is gone and so is Akito. Hayama-san (the father) comes home early from work and Sana goes to find Akito. She sees him eating fast food and tells him that he has to go home and watch the drama but it is 8 o'clock and too late. Then she pretends to be his mother and calls him aa-chan telling him that she loved him and she gave birth to him because of it. His head is on her lap. After she is done talking she realises that the reason he is so quiet is because he is running a fever and is very sick. She is trying to get him home but it's difficult. Then Hayama's father comes and gets him. At first he tries to act strong but his father just picks him up over his shoulder and carries him home. |
| After the drama was over with it was revealed that the actress she starred with was actually Rei's old girlfriend. After a talk with her mother and Hayama, Sana tells him that she is an adult so he can have a relationship with the actress. Things seem to start going great for Akito but Sana's life is another story, although she is normally happy her mother is about to write another book called My Daughter And I (her award winning book being The Gigolo and I about her ex-husband). It was promised since Sana was 5 years old, and would be out at the end of summer. Sana went on a field trip and while she was there Hayama told her that she could come to him if she needed to cry. That made her feel happy. They also found the teachers having a party and Hayama zeroed in on the sushi. Rei was mad because he didn't know what the book was. Sana's mother made him promise to protect her. He told her he would and that he was prepared with water food and a flashlight but the light didn't work so he got upset thinking he couldn't protect Sana. |
| While doing a commericial for Heal Ban she met another child star named Naozumi who was a pretty boy. He told her that he knew her secret. After revealing that she ate all the ice cream at another shoot and a few others she finally finds out he's talking about what is in the book. She then tells him it will all be out anyways so it didn't matter. Naozumi has a crush on Sana and wants to keep seeing her. Sana had a live show (she thinks those are the best) before the end of the summer. Naozumi gave her flowers. Hayama was jealous and Naozumi told him that he was like Sana and that since Hayama wasn't working toward anything he wasn't Sana's type. The book came out and revealed that Sana wasn't really her mother's daughter that she was found only a couple of days old in the park. The purpose was to find Sana's real mother. After the book was released Sana stayed at Hayama's where it was found out that she had three moles. A phone call from home revealed some horrible news. |
| A woman was at her house and it was her real mother. After Sana's mom questioned the woman and found that it was her mother, she slapped her (for what she did to the child) She herself only had a 5% chance of having a child when she found Sana. Sana had Hayama with her when she met her real mother. She said she had an important question and it happened to be when her birthday was. Because her name might be Samu (Sam) instead of Sana *she was named according to the day she was supposed to be born*. This made Hayama laugh (something that doesn't happen often). It was then revealed that Sana had a little sister (which she thought was cute) and they were going to meet. They spent a day at the fair but Sana didn't think of her as her sister just a little girl. Her real mom wanted to know if she could hope that one day Sana would live with her. She told her real mother that she wasn't her mother and she would never see her again. That the woman who raised her was. Then she went home. A reporter wanted to know about how she felt about her mother's book but she happily told him that was old news! |
| Episode 19 is the last of the first part. It is followed by Episode 20 which is a messed up game show. There are about 84 more episodes but they haven't been subtitled (and I haven't seen them either) In my opinion the first 20 are pretty much stand alone and don't really need anything after that so go watch them! Interesting notes. Rei always wears sunglasses even at night. At first I thought it was weird until he made a little rap explaining that he couldn't see with them but Sana wouldn't let him take them off since it made him look cool! Sana is always called Sana-chan but Hayama Akito is always called Hayama-san (his last name) this might be because he is the 'boss monkey' and is respected (sort of), but not many are close to him. |
