FIRST STRIKE

CHAPTER 3: CONNED?

Off to the Wyndham Hotel we went. The weather wasn't that great. Dark clouds and a little sprinkle. But we were so hyped that we did not care.

It was about 8 in the morning and we assumed there would be a long line for registration. We saw a couple of guys from San Francisco and it turned out that we were the only guys for a while waiting for the con to start. Then the staff came out saying that registration would not start until 11 in the morning. I scratched my head in disbelief. I decided to fall asleep in the sofa that was there.

ZZZZZZZ...

Soon, more people would start showing up. Some anime fan went ahead and told me, "Yeah, there were about fifteen-hundred that pre-redged (registered) for the con." I thought to myself, "It looked to me like fifteen did..."

Soon, I saw a couple of "Sailor Eclipses". Ranma-X decided to change into his Ranma costume. And then the staff, being the organized group of people that they are, mentioned that we had to go downstairs to register. An hour before, they said it would be on the third floor. But what the hell? We went downstairs.

We heard someone yell, "Ranma-honey!" I started cracking up at a sight of a dressed-up Ukyo Kuonji. This was the first time I saw an Ukyo in a con (we were at Anime Expo '98 and I didn't see a single Ukyo there). Of course, we got a picture of that...

Isn't Ranma-X one happy camper or
what? HE ACTUALLY TOUCHED A GIRL!

The waiting game exhausted us. We looked at the program and saw, to our dismay, that there were no major events until 4 in the afternoon. We decided to drive to the Hyatt, (which was supposed to be walking distance) where we were staying. It was actually about half a mile away from the Wyndham (where the Con was held). We got to the room and, a few minutes later, everything went black...
