Rukawa's Confession
(Is it?)

I can do this, thought Rukawa looking into the annoyed eyes of the young man standing opposite to him.

"Listen to me," began Rukawa, "I know this is abrupt but I have feelings for you. Feelings which I cannot express in precise words."

A weary sigh came from the other person, "I don't have time for this, Kaede."

"We've been fighting for so long. I know it is impossible but it has happened, can't you see? Can't you see how much I care for you?"

The other young man just rubbed at his temples, refusing to reply to Rukawa's words.

"I want to kiss you so that you may know how much I care for you..."

Piercing eyes widened in shock.

"... but I'm going to wait until you accept me with open arms, Hanamichi."

"Thank God," came a mutter, "You'd surely find a fist in your face."

"It's weird. I can't explain this..."

"What's weird is," said Rukawa's older brother putting down his mug of coffee, "that you're saying this all to me. Go find someone else to practice your speech to. I'm late for work."

And with that the young man grabbed his suitcase and left the house, banging the door shut behind him.

Rukawa blinked and turned around only to confront his reflection in the mirror, "Hmmm..."

And so he begins again.
