Her name is related with some events, when she arrives to Cefiro and Clef give her magic powers, these powers choose Umi to dominate the magic of Water. Then, when Umi finds her Mashin, Ceres, at the beginning he has a dragon shape. |
She's the tallest and the most beautiful of the Magic Knights. At the beginning, cause her comments she looks like a selfish person, cause the only thing that she wants when she arrives to Cefiro is to go back to Tokyo for fencing competition, and cause she doesn't take seriously Clef's explanation about save Cefiro. She's short-tempered and overreacts to anything strange or unpleasent. But she madures during the series and she becomes a friendly person , with a great preoccupancy to the persons that she loves and appreciates, she always searchs the way to protect them. She's proud and realistic, always expresses what she thinks and feels, but she's somewhat clueless to men. In the second season has a special relationship with Clef, seems love him, but she never declare it. Also in the second season Ascot confesses love her, but she only considers him like a friend.
FEATURES:
Umi, Hikaru and Fuu was transported to Cefiro when they were visiting Tokyo
Tower, when they arrive to Cefiro Clef gives them magic and armours, but
he only had time to teach Hikaru to use magic, cause he was transformed
into stone.
Umi learn how to use magic when, hurt by Alcyone, witnesses that Hikaru
risks life to protect her, she wishes she can use her magic so she can
protect Hikaru, in that instant, Clef talk to her through telepathy and
teaches magic to Umi, then she develops "Water Dragon" (Mizu no Ryuu)
and defeat Alcyone.
When the 3 girls arrive to Eterna with purpose to obtain the Eskudo they have to pass a proof. In front of Umi appear her parents that begin to attack her, she refuse to hurt them, but then princess Emerauld appears and advices the 3 girls; Umi realizes that her parents are only an illusion and decides defeat it, that is when she develops a new magic, the "Blue Tornado" (Aoi Tatsumaki), thus she defeats the enemy and passes Eterna Proof.
The swords made with Eskudo by Presea, has the peculiarity to develop in
accord with mental power of it's owner, Umi's sword has it's first
transformation when she realizes how she loves Hikaru and Fuu.
She is the first to find her Mashin, named Ceres, who awakes when Umi
passes his proof that consists she demostrates the strength of her heart.
Ceres asked Umi to abandon Hikaru and Fuu, and leave them fight with the
monster, so she can save her life and fight against Zagato, Umi denies
abandon her friends, with this action she demostrates the strength of her
heart that Ceres asked and passes his proof, with that Ceres awakes. In
that instant the armours of the girls develop.
