As the title goes...this features the Sailormars we know the way the author originally conceptualized her. The soldier of fire in the most stunning poses as drawn in the manga.
I rely on my friends, especially Reah and Rowena, for most of the story.
But I'll discuss my insights and some knowledge about my favorite senshi in this section!)
First thing I noticed was that, of course, Sailormars didn't look exactly like that in the colored anime. Naoko-san put close attention to details. Her hair and eyes were drawn more fancifully. Well, I really think that Rei looked more beautiful in the manga. The other senshi are pretty, too.
But the more important aspect was Rei's character, which is different from the anime. My cousin, Bowaggi said that she prefers the Rei in the anime better, because she is almost too perfect in the manga.
Almost perfect? Hmmm...let's see...
Naoko Takeuchi-san has said in one of her commentaries that Rei was beautiful. She probably made her to be that way. During her first appearance, Usagi and Jadeite were so enthralled with her presence. Jadeite was probably the only general (in the manga) who seem to have fallen for a senshi, Sailormars.
Heartthrob, like I always say! Actual scenes of admirers giving her flowers and offering her a drink. But...
She has no interest in men.
It's ironic..but it also sounds amusing. Well, that she's so pretty and a heartthrob is enough for me. But I kind of wish that she give someone a chance.
A Shinto priestess with no report of bad grades. And a sailor senshi, too! Lots of stuff on her determined and willful hands. How does she do it all?

We wouldn't see her in lots of funny faces and sweat drops as that in the anime. But I miss the 'charming' aspects of these funny moments. The hot-temper and irritability is still there in black and white, even if she's devoted to her friends. So she's really not perfect, after all.
In black and white, the sophistication and ironies that surround her make her interesting. They probably still kept that in the anime plus some amusing antics to, I think, enrich her character more.
I do wish that I had background with the Rei and Jadeite story. I haven't heard of anything regarding the affairs of the senshi with the generals. It would be a moving and interesting concept. Makes you think how Sailormars would be like, taking off her aloofness just to fall for Jadeite.
But whether anime or manga, she's just cool! But in black and white, the beautiful, devoted senshi of fire has a naturally ravishing countenance and enigmatic disposition.
