The A To Z of Ranma 1/2

Well, here it is...Koji's A to Z listing of Ranma 1/2. A few friends helped in the brainstorming of this list...so sit back and enjoy!

A is for Akane, Ranma's cute fiancee whom he claims is the most uncute and violent girl in the world.

B is for Black Rose. The trademark signal of ferocious little Kodachi who enjoys anything from an unfairly achieved victory over Akane, Ukyou and Shampoo to just a quiet candle-light dinner with Ranma.

C is for Cats. The animal that sends Ranma into a state of shock and paralysis whenever he comes into encounter with one. Incidentally Shampoo also turns into a cat when splashed with cold water and terrifies Ranma even more whenever she lovingly clings onto Ranma in her non-human form.
King Cat, the giant cat who is looking for a bride is also one of Ranma's greatest nemesis.

D is for Doctor Tofu. A skilled physician who loses his senses whenever he encounters the irresistible charm of Kasumi. The family doctor of the Tendo family.

E is for Ego. And if you ask me, Kuno definitely has no lack of it! It may be true that he is quite a good-looking fellow, but for him to assume that all the girls in the world are irresistible to his charm, well......erm......probably not your complete idea of what an ideally charming guy should be like.

F is for Furinkan High School. The place where most of the craziest Ranma gang receive their education (if u can call it "education" at all). Akane, Ranma and Ukyou are in year 1 and Kuno and Nabiki are in year 2.
G is for Genma, Ranma's father who leads a lazy life in his panda form. He claims to be the noble descendant to the Saotome family's martial arts sect and constantly reminds Ranma that if he is to be the next descendant, he will have to become unrivalled in both armed and unarmed combat.

H is for Happosai. A sex fiend who lives with the Tendo family as Genma and Soun's grand-teacher. A superb fighter whom even Ranma himself finds impossible to defeat. His favourite hobbies include stealing schoolgirls' undergarments and mind you, he has quite a bit of a collection of those if you ask me!!!

I is for Inazuke. Japanese pronunciation for fiancee. Quite unthinkable for a couple of 16 year-old teenagers to have their respective inazukes, isn't it?

J is for Jusenkyo. The place which contains a hundred cursed lakes which turns you into something that you...well...would not quite appreciate in the best of ways if you ACCIDENTALLY fall into one of them!!!

K is for Koji! The maker of this page.

L is for Love. One of the main themes in the Ranma series. Ranma probably loves Akane. Akane probably loves Ranma. Shampoo loves Ranma. Mousse loves Shampoo. Ryouga loves Akane. Kodachi loves Ranma. Ukyou loves Ranma. Kuno loves Akane AND the female version of Ranma. Are you confused or what??!!

M is for Martial Arts. Another theme in the Ranma series. All the main characters are well-versed in martial arts in one way or another. The most skilful of them all are Ranma and Ryouga respectively.

N is for Nabiki. Soun Tendo's money-faced daughter who fights on the side of neither good nor evil...her only ally is money and what better way to make money is there when she can simply sell photos of the female Ranma and Akane to her egoistic classmate, Kuno.

O is for Okonomiyaki. Also known as Japanese pizzas. Delicious Okonomiyakis in the Ranma 1/2 series are famously made by the one and only Ukyou. They say that the way to winning a man's heart is to let him have his fill of delicious food......looks like Akane will really have to settle for second place to Ukyou if this is really the case.

P is for P-chan. Ryouga's alter-ego when he falls into cold water. P-chan is a cute, little black pig whom Akane treats as her most precious pet. By the way, P-chan sleeps with Akane in the Tendo Dojo which most certainly arouses the jealousy of Ranma. (and he claims that Akane is the most uncute girl in the world!)

Q is for Quack. The sound made by Mousse when he turns into a duck. Nothing too strange about a duck that quacks but I bet you will really panic when you find yourself being chased by a be-spectacled duck who is throwing flying daggers at you while quacking away furiously at the same time.

R is for Ranma. The main character of the manga, Ranma is a 16 year old boy who turns into a pretty girl whenever he comes into contact with cold water after he fell into a cursed lake at Jusenkyo.

S is for Sense of Direction. The one thing that our resourceful eternally-lost-boy, Ryouga does not have. The one thing that could have helped Ryouga walk out of a small house, a bunch of trees (which he inevitably mistook as a huge and endless jungle while being "trapped" in it), a tiny cave which only has one entrance and exit, a desert, his hometown......(the list is not exhaustive).

T is for the Tendo Dojo. The martial arts hall opened by Soun Tendo. Unfortunately, Soun has no son to inherit the Tendo Dojo. As a result, he has to depend on his prospective son-in-law, Ranma to inherit the Dojo.

U is for Unfathomable. Which really means incomprehensible or  impossible to understand. I mean...do any of you guys out there actually understand the mindset of some of the weirdest characters in Ranma 1/2?? You know, things like keeping a pet alligator, throwing bombs from the sky as a flying duck, falling in love with a girl who is really a guy. Gasp!

V is for Violence. If being hit on the head with a 10-ton hammer, kicked into the air - flying off as you go, thrown off a really high cliff and given a really tight slap isn't what your idea of violence is......sheesh......I don't know what is.

W is for Water. A most basic element that is required for life which our main characters Ranma, Ryouga, Mousse and Shampoo have quite a bit of a problem with. Apparantly, the idea of transforming into another gender, a direction-less pig, a be-spectacled duck or less extremely, a feminine cat does not quite appeal to our animated pals.

X is for X-ray. Which should really be used on Happosai's brain to see what filthy thoughts he is thinking of. Then we scrup the filthy "stuffs" off his mind!!!

Y is for Youth. A most enviable quality that all the coolest and craziest characters in Ranma 1/2 enjoy.

Z is for Zero. If you have to grade Akane's cooking upon a scale of a hundred, a thousand or even a million for that matter...well, no prizes for guessing what score everyone will give!!!
