Yes!..it's me again! This time with a really juicy update..read on..

Video Conferencing with Athena!
The lucky (hmm..actually we worked hard to organise it..hee..not me though) fans here in Singapore had a cosy one hour video conferencing session with Athena last Saturday. The session kicked off with the slightly late arrival of Athena (but of course we forgave her..hee..). The connection was established and Athena's pretty face appeared on the 100-inch projection screen (yes..you can drool now..). The quality of the video conferencing was very good as the equipment used was supposedly the same as the one they used in the WTO meeting. Anyway, enough with the boring technical details.

Athena was presented with a lovely bouquet of flowers by Felix (webmaster of Athena in Athens) on the HK side. Then the fans on the Singapore side introduced ourselves one by one. There were about 20 of us. This was immediately followed with a short performance by a few of the more talented members (not me of course!) of our fanclub. Athena was clearly impressed by the vocal talents we had here in Singapore..;-)

Next we put Athena under the grill by asking her some questions. Some about her career, some about how she was doing personally, some about her new album (we even managed to get her to sing a few lines from it) and some about her boyfriend..heh..;-)

Unfortunately all good things must come to an end and we finished off the session by presenting Athena with a cake (bought by yours truly), wishing her and her company L & P all the best in their future endeavours. We were feeling a bit disappointed as Athena could not share the very nice cake we had (one of the bad things about video conferencing) when Felix surprised us by coming up with one too for Athena on the HK side. So happily we continued and we sang and then we cut the cake together. So sadly this brings us to the close of the first ever Singapore-HK video conferencing session with our dear Athena.

Those of you who were unable to participate in this grand affair, do not despair! The webcast of the video conferencing session is available online at http://tweety.nec.com.sg/athena/. Windows Media Player 4.0 is required to view this webcast and it is available for download on the page is you do not have it.

So that's it for this update, hope you liked my "report" on the video-conferencing session. I will try to update this site more frequently in future but "try" being the keyword here..heh..you all can help too by emailing me anything interesting about Athena you come across and I'll put it up for everyone to see..yup..:-)

p.s. Can anyone who remembers and understands more of the video conferencing session than me, please email me with a transcript of the Q&A part if it is not too much trouble..:-)

Athena Fearful of Damages to her Image
Athena's clearly displeased with a movie company. The company that filmed Triad is using a somewhat intimate scene between her and Lau Ching Wan in the movie for promotions. This was not supposed to be the case, however. "As I understand it that 'intimate scene' is not supposed to be a significant one," said Athena, obviously disturbed, "but now they are focusing on that one scene.

"What's more, still shots of it have been leaked out. I don't understand how this can be the case, especially when the shooting area was cleared in advance." Athena is worried that the photos could cause considerate damage to her image, to the point of having a negative impact on the future of her career. She is considering filing a complaint.

The 'intimate scene' in question shows Lau Ching Wan kissing Athena all over her body and getting under her skirt. "I had taken my precautions. I wore clothes and shorts underneath my dress, and the skirt has layers of lace on the outside. Besides, Lau Ching Wan knows how to take advantage of the camera angles, so he really didn't touch me at all, and I wasn't embarassed, unlike the scene in The Conman, which is a lot daring, to me at least. I still wanted the area to be cleared, though."

The interesting part of this role are her breakthroughs. In the film, her character drinks, smokes, and curses, things that she herself doesn't do in real life. "I haven't done these things in a film until now.

"In one of the scenes I was supposed to drink a lot. Since I don't drink, the alcohol got to my head quickly, and I was stoned for quite a while. Even the crew members poked fun at me.

"Whenever I needed to curse, I would have to ask the director what that curse means, so that I could come up with the appropiate expressions."

Hi everybody!..it's only one day to go before Chinese New Year..so for those of you who do celebrate it (or get a free holiday because of it), here's wishing you all a Happy Chinese New Year!!..and may your pockets overflow from all the red packets you will receive..hee..hee..I know mine will..$_$

Yesterday was also Valentine's Day..not to gloat, but I had a great time and it's all because I had a SYT to spend it with..:-)..and if you want to know how our dear Athena spends hers, then read the following ripped article..

Athena Longs for a Romantic Valentine's Day
It may come to a surprise to many that an exquisite beauty such as Athena may have to spend Valentine's Day without a date. "It doesn't bother me at all. I have almost forgotten about it. While I am still available, I will first judge the sincerity of any party extending an invitation. I rather spend my time with my family if I don't get invited by a truly sincere man. After all, it will only be two days till Chinese New Year."

Athena spent most her Valentine's Days at work. When asked of her most memorable Valentine's Day, the gorgeous artiste replied, "Not a single one." Is it regrettable? "No, just a sense of helplessness. I would love to spend the day with a man I truly love building a heart with candles [and then lighting them]. It must be really romantic."

It turns out the our dear Athena is into old fashioned romanticism. She likes the simple things, such as strolling along a beach, watching the moon rise, watching the sunset, watching the sunrise, or have a late night ride on the cross harbour ferry. The more "outdated" these activities are, the more she likes them. "Still, if the other person is not romantic, doing these will just be plain silly."

Last year, Athena's best friend Ada bought a gift for her for the occasion. She remembers, when she was still in secondary school, a school mate of hers, knowing that she likes flowers, gave her a bouquet of paper flowers on a Valentine's Day. Unfortunately for him, although Athena was touched, she wasn't attracted to him.

The petite beauty enjoys the feelings of being wooed. She disclosed that she will not take an active role, no matter how much she likes a man. He will have to take the initiative.

When asked of Paul Wong, Athena became displeased and cut the reporters off. "Please, do not mention him again. I don't want my name to be linked with his.

Athena breathes easier
Athena breathed a sigh of relief when she found out she's not the focus of attention for the new movie RA4. Suki Kwan replaced the Sunshine Girl as the center of the movie poster. Yet, she holds her own as a righteous, evil-busting police officer. "I am vindicated. This shows I'm not Wong Jing's 'protégée' or whatever you want to call it, especially when it is used with all sorts of nasty connotations," declared a relieved Athena.

"I am also very glad about not having any revealing scenes, as I am really trying hard to get rid of the 'sex kitten' label. Being a police officer is a good change of direction, since I love to play all kinds of roles."

On the topic of roles, the petite beauty enjoys switching to male characters from time to time, though so far she has only played these in films set in the ancient past. "I like these roles because I am a playful person." When asked of the ways she used to conceal her outstanding figure, Athena replied with a giggle, "Nothing special since those ancient dresses are big and loose. As long as I don't start running, I'm fine. The looks are easy, the hard part is to mimic their mannerisms, especially when trying to be breezy and carefree."

In Triad, though, there's a scene where Athena played a sixteen-year old girl. That was a difficult scene for her in the sense that she needed to flatten her chest. "I had trouble breathing! Whenever there was a break I would loosen the gauze wrapped on me."

Will Athena be part of the parade today organised by the movie industry to call attention to the piracy activties in Hong Kong? "No, not that I don't support their activism, as movie thieves are immoral. There are other ways of expressing opinions, and I have stopped buying VCDs of Japanese TV serials even though you can't get them here in Hong Kong lawfully." Note: Athena loves to watch these Japanese TV serials.

Athena Bathes in Sunlight
Recently, Athena and a large group of friends, over ten strong, went to visit Thailand for the sea, the sun, and the beach. Unfortunately, on the first day she got there, the petite beauty caught a flu. Luckily, Mom had given her medication for occasions like these, so she immediately took some of that. Afterwards, Athena feasted on fruits, which are plentiful in Thailand, and nothing else until she recovered.

When they were in Thailand they found many local girls on the beaches doing braids for tourists. Athena wanted to get some done since she found it neat, so she and some girlfriends went bargaining with the hairstylers and got it down to 20 Thai bahts per braid. Athena had a total of 59 of the "Bo Derek style" braids done and it costed her a little more than HK$200. "I found it very difficult to shampoo when my hair were in braids, therefore I undid them all just after two days."

Athena disclosed that talks are underway between her and a Japanese band for possible cooperations and the meetings so far have gone smoothly. Athena is interested in entering the Japanese market and reckons that the chance for a deal is good.

Athena's Haven is proud to bring to you exclusive photos of Athena's recent concert in HK. Of course, all these would not have been possible without the 4 "super-on" members of our Fan Club who flew all the way to HK just to attend Athena's concert (something which I wasn't able to do..sigh..). They are Cecilia (+ family), Christina, Doreen and Maxx. You may not know any of them but it doesn't matter right?..what matters is that they brought back lots of photos..hee..hee..so without further delay..let's go!

I will soon have a short write-up of the concert (before, during and after) but it all depends on the efficiency of a certain doctor..so see how lah..and also, I will try to record some of the songs from the concert into RealAudio format and put them up here..so stay tuned! :-)

And last but not least, there is an article about our dear Athena over at The New Paper (a Singapore newspaper)..as the archive is only one-week old, I have mirrored a local copy here for your viewing pleasure.

Chu on this: She's available
I am still available, maintains sweetie-pie Athena Chu Yan. The Hongkong actress, once rumoured to be comedian Stephen Chow's belle, has dismissed reports she is seeing Paul Wong, the guitarist from Beyond.

"We're innocent! He used to be my neighbour and we are just good friends. I think the rumours started because he's a guy and I'm still single," she said.

In a telephone interview, Chu also touched on her intimate scenes with another actress in the film The Love Of The Eastern Hollywood. In the movie, based loosely on the life of six Hongkong female artistes, Chu plays Sandra Ng, who has a relationship with a radio personality, fleshed by Monica Chan Fat Yung.

She said: "I didn't feel anything at all. I was concentrating on bringing out the character. Besides, I'm very comfortable with Monica as we're good friends. I wouldn't have accepted the role if someone else was playing opposite me." But given a choice, the angelic-faced star would rather not have intimate scenes at all. "It is quite awkward after all," she said with a laugh.

However, the 27-year-old actress is fast acquiring a reputation for her sexy image. Her mini-concert in Hongkong on Christmas Day was described by the press there as a "nose-bleeding experience", in reference to her skimpy outfits.

"The reports were exaggerated. I didn't wear anything revealing," she protested. "I wore singlets, short skirts and slacks, too, but there was nothing low-cut."

So why the sexy tag?

"Maybe it's because I give people a more summer feeling with my tan," she offered.

The Love Of The Eastern Hollywood, to be telecast on Feb 20 and 26, is one of five Chu movies that will be shown here for the first time on Singapore Cable Vision's VarietyVision channel. The other four are Ah Fai The Dumb (Saturday, Jan 22, 26), Take Five (Jan 23, 28), Temptress Of A Thousand Faces (Jan 30) and Step Into The Dark (May, exact date to be fixed).

Viewers here in Singapore last saw her romancing Aaron Kwok in the drama serial War Of Bribery, aired on TCS' Channel 8 last September.

Article was totally ripped (I'm good at that..hee..hee..) from the The Straits Times Interactive (a Singapore newspaper)..you can hopefully still find the original article here.
