Shinra Building

You enter the tower of the Palace called the Shinra Building. Everyone is working diligently and mechanically, seeming more like living and breathing automatons than human beings. As one Shinra employee said as he walked to the bathroom, "It's the only thing that makes me feel human...."

Shinra Electrical Company

Shinra, Inc. started as a weapons manufacturer in the early days, during the war. After the war, the company turned to space exploration. A space shuttle was built for their first space exploration mission. However, when the mission failed to launch, Shinra, Inc. was discouraged by their loss of money in the failed attempt, so they dumped the entire Space Development project. Instead, they turned to the lucrative business of providing Mako energy to the world.

However, this Mako energy comes from the Planet itself, and it is the condensed energy of the souls of the people who live on it. The Makoro reactors pump this energy out of the Planet and convert it into electricty for people to use. This resource is slowly being sucked away, killing the Planet. Realizing that their business would crash if they did not find a new source of Mako energy, Shinra, Inc. decided to look for the Promised Land, a place supposedly rich with Mako. The Promised Land, however, is hidden from normal humans, and only the almost-extinct Cetra can lead them to it.
