Renato Abadilla scored 255 in the first game and a 195-pin average for the night
lifting the Sampaloc Spiders above JPRizal Jaguars for the championship (4-0).
The ever-resilient Jaguars made a good game out of it as they fought neck-and-neck
up to the last few frames of the match. However, balanced scoring won the match
for the Spiders. The Spiders decidedly won the first game by 50 pins (701-651).
But the last two games could have gone either way as the Spiders managed to win the
second and third game only with single-digit pin differences (607-601, 687-678).
Congratulations to the SAMPALOC SPIDERS!.
Week 26 will be very interesting as the top three teams battle for the PPBL 2000 crown.
The Jaguars whom three weeks ago seemed to have captured the title lost their last two
matches giving the two teams that are chasing them a mathematical chance of winning the
championship. The Jaguars need to secure at least two points when they face the Spiders
to seal the victory. On the other hand, the Spiders need to win all four points to avoid
the Coelhos from bolting to first place. For the Coelhos to have any chance of winning
the title, they need to win by a 4-0 margin against the Anacondas and hope that the Spiders
beat the Jaguars three-points-to-one. See Team Standings for more details.
THREE-WAY BATTLE FOR THE LAST TWO TOP-5 SPOTS
While the three-way mad scramble for the title is going on, three other teams will have
a three-way collision of their own. The Anacondas will try to win no less than two points
against their opponent to secure a top-five position while the Owls and the Falcons will
try to prey on each other to avoid elimination. Currently separated by only half-of-a-point,
only two among the three teams will walk away with trophies on their hands.

The Kalentong Kangaroos got a big boost from Marilou Smith's best series yet (496 pinfalls)
as they lead all the teams in week five with 4 points and 1933 pinfalls. Their win
improved their total team points to nine.

RAGING BULLS
Penn Tanio of the Bangkusay Bulls shot his first 200-game and his
second 500-series powering his team past Pasay Panthers, 4-0.
Also contributed to the Bulls cause was Eric Alvarez' 503-series outing.
The Conshohocken Coelhos' balanced performance proved to be the
difference when they swept the Kalentong Kangaroos, 4-0.
The Coelhos grabbed the league's top team ranking with seven points.
Most noticeable was Ms. Liz Mendanha's 30-points above average outing.

SPIDERS
Rotonda Roadrunners and Sampaloc Spiders swept their
season openers to lead all the teams going in to the
second week. The Roadrunners crushed the Quiapo Quails
behind Edgar Ramilo's 199-180-190 outing. Going against
the ghost team, the Spiders only needed to score 90% of
their average to garner their first four points of the season.
