What's up?Good News DragonBall Z fans! RPN9 has begun showing DBZ again every Sunday at 5:30PM. But RPN9 said that DBZ will only be on the air long enough to finish the Vegeta story. All this info is courtesy of the very gracious Andrew Kim. Thanks Andrew!

WELCOME! Tuloy po kayo! Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoy your stay!

CrazyKids!DBZ actually started here around 3 years ago. But they abruptly cut the story at a climactic point--Goku coming back to earth to fight Vegeta for the 1st time--grrr...Then around a year ago, RPN 9 started showing Dragonball. They issued a press release explaining that they decided to start from DB so that the viewers would know the history behind DBZ. But now, DBZ is back again, so Pinoys will at least get to see how the battle between Goku and Vegeta turned out.
The Philippine English dub of DB is produced by Creative Products Corp. They've also released 4 DBZ movies. One was called DBZ The Movie (2 Kura movies) & the other was DBZ The Movie 2 (1st 2 Broli movies..I think).

DBZ's Phil. producer Creative Products also came up w/ a DBZ Magical Musical Show. I didn't get to see it myself, but I don't think I would have wanted to. Goku was played by Gino Padilla(singer of Close-Up toothpaste commercials). I saw him dance & sing to an English version of CHA-LA-HEAD-CHA-LA on a noontime show(Eat Bulaga?) & it was just hilarious! For anyone who's interested, Ivory Records came out w/ a sing-a-long casette for the DBZ musical. :)

The Phil. version's English is at best passable. However, I've noticed that they have started to incoporate a little Tagalog into the dialogue. I don't know if the producers are planning to gradually turn the DB into a Tagalog dub. Personally though I hope they do because Tagalog seems to work well with a lot of anime shows such as SailorMoon and YuYu Hakusho.

Don't forget to check out the English lyrics of the DB opening song.

Personal Notes

Saiya-jin & Robots Action! Action! And More Action! Face it, the plot isn't really that elaborate. But the hard-hitting action really packs a mean punch. The characters are really appealing too. Goku's the noble hero, Vegeta's the cool anti-hero, Chibi-Trunks & Goten are the adorable "cuties" & Kuririn's the comic relief. DBZ has a sentimental place in my heart primarily because of the characters. They develop physically & psychologically; they aren't stuck in the same old rut all throughout the series. Dragonball was on the air for 10 years--they must have been doing something right. Besides, sometimes mindless destruction is good for the system :)

DBGT: the newest DB installment...follow a DBGT link for more info.

PSX: As far as I know DBZ has 2 Playstation games: Ultimate Battle 22/27 & DBZ Legend. Ultimate Battle is your standard 2D DB game except it doesn't utilize the split-screen method for firing the BIG fireballs. Legend is a lot more interesting bec. u help Goku & Co. survive the entire DBZ storyline--from Raditz to Buu. Both games are good but not spectacular. Be on the look out for the DBGT 3D fighting game.

FAVE: Isn't it obvious? It can only be the 1 & only Android18! She's the only grrrl in DBZ w/ a major attitude & the power to back it up. Plus, she married Kuririn (awww...). My other faves are Piccolo (cool), Vegeta (ruthless) & Goku (gee..what a nice guy).

PET PEEVES: Its too early to tell what exactly will rile me up with DBZ but the fact that RPN9 doesn't plan to show all of DBZ (not yet anyway), doesn't make me a very happy viewer.
