HONORABLE MENTIONS

The following is a list of fics that, while not among my absolute favorites, I still consider to be good works and/or high on humor content. These will only be links to their home pages.

The runners-up are (in no particular order):

Waters Under Earth
This is one of the more unusual storylines that I've come across in my readings. We all know that Ranma battled Saffron at Mount Phoenix, and ultimately triumphed over the great lord with no small amount of effort, but was his victory rightly won, or was it preordained in prophecy, destined by fate, milennia ago?
There is a organization at work, dark in both its members and its purpose, that has opperated behind behind the scenes for as long as history has existed. They are there, pulling the strings of society, manipulating those that would bend, breaking those that wouldn't. All the time, watching... waiting for the phoenix to fall, the first sign of the propehcy that heralds the beginning of their dark conquest of the world, and an end to everything.
However... are men truly bound by the chains of fate, or are their choices their own? Can Ranma put an end to the plans of those who would destroy all in their path? You decide. ^_^

Mustard Girl Ok, I'll admit it, this is a crossover fic of Ranma & Marmalade Boy (if you couldn't guess by the name). My knowledge of M.B. is limited to a few episodes, but I've also seen a number of 'Children's Toys' episodes (imagine a grade school version of M.B. except hyped up on a pound of sugar and a 12-pack of JOLT). The idea just intrigued me. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. 8^) Besides if there's a series with more relationship troubles than Ranma, this is it. There's only a couple of chapters so far, but give them a try.

T'aaveren 1/2 Guess what. Another crossover. I just had to include this one because, well, I got hooked on the 'Wheel of Time' books by Robert Jordan and when I found this fic I thought "Gotta read it." It's silly, it's wacky, but if you've read W.O.T. and liked it (you'd have to to read all of it) you'll like this too.
Parallel Lives Another crossover in which some of the Ranma characters enter the W.O.T. world, and guess what. Akane's the Dragon! (Nyaa! Figure that one out.) Or is she? I'm not gonna tell, so you'll just have to read it for yourself.

Clothes make the... Here's one where Ranma has to make some very serious decisions about his, or perhaps, her life. Jusenkyo curses don't change a person's mind, only the body. However, that doesn't mean that it won't open other avenues into a person's life, perhaps ones that wouldn't have been traveled otherwise.

A Lesson In Love
I must appologize but I can't tell you much about this one right now. I read it many months ago and enjoyed it then and more recently it was recommened to me by a visitor to my site but I haven't had chance to go over it since. It is a fairly long series, but again, one well worth reading.

Ranko 1/2 A retelling of our favourite story with a twist, Genma raised his only child in the ways of the Art and made a promise to his good friend Soun that their families would be united in marrage, only... Ranma changing into a girl never stopped the engagement, so why should the fact that she was born one make a difference? Oops, I've said too much. You'll have to read it to find out more. 8^)

Ballad Long ago, Soun and Genma made a promise that their families would join. Unfortunately they never lived to see their dream, but fear not, Nodoka and Kimiko shall carry on the torch in their stead, though be it in different manner.

Ranma's Appartment One hectic (and quite typical) morning, Ranma finally loses his cool, and in typical martial art style, goes on a minor stomping spree. Afterwards, he decides that he nees some time on his own in order to figure things out.
Chapter 3 is now complete and is posted but a warning to all, things get a little... intimate in this one. It may not be for everyone.

That's 1/2 My Goddess is well written and quite comical. The Akane Tendo, goddess of weather and conficts (like we didn't see that one coming), arrives one day to grant a young martial artist, a certain Ranma Saotome, one wish. Ranma being popular with the girls in just about any universe, accidentally wishes that he could be around a girl like you (aka Akane) to spend time with. The only other problem is that, Ranko Tendo, goddess of Love and Affection (Ok, everyone who saw that one coming please raise your hand), due to a clerical mix up, also show up to grant him his one wish. Ok that's not really the problem, but due to the fact she'd been wearing a walkman at the time, what she'd heard was 'wish I could be...a girl like you'. And this is when the real fun begins. Check it out.
Magical Night Ranma is currently only one chapter long, but it seems like its on its way to a good series. To save the dying land of Cerifo, the good and peace loving Princess Kasumi (Ok everyone, lets get a count of hand again 8^) has summoned the three Magical Knights to save her world from destruction. One daughter from each of the Anything Goes Martial Arts schools, Akane from the Tendo school, Ukyou from the Kuonji school (don't ask, I don't know the answer), and Ranma from the Saotome school. Hmmmm... wait a minute, Ranma's a guy, but the legend said three girls. Hmmmm.... 8^) Don't know how this one is going to turn out, but it looks like fun.

Love Letters from the Edge After several long years, a boy returns to the Tendo Dojo. At the age of 10, he set out seeking his true identity and parents. You see, he never really knew who he was, his earliest memories were of scrounging for food from a trashcan in front of the dojo. Soun, never having a son and having great sympathy for the homeless child, adopted the boy and raised him as his own, naming him 'Ranma' after his good friend's child who had died in a horrible accident. Now Ranma didn't return alone, but with his sister, well adopted sister, Akane and both were greeted with joyous arms. Now Akane had always been the best at matial artists, so when she left six years ago with Ranma, it then fell upon Nabiki to carry on the Tendo school. Oh yeah, did I mention that she's been engaged to Kuno? 8^) A really good story that you should definately check out.

Elseworlds These are some very different stories that follow along the lines of Marvel's WhatIf's or DC's, you guessed it, Elseworld. A look at how life might have been only if... All the while, three myterious hooded figures are pulling the strings, or is it trying to put things back right? I don't know, but maybe you can tell me. In my humble opinion, the best are the 1st, 3rd and 5th chapters.
