An Easy Definition
Embassy is a word which crops up all the time but isn't necessarily widely understood. So before going any further, it might be useful to pause for a moment and reflect on what Embassies are, and what Governments expect them to do. Those of you who already know can skip this section!.There isn't an easy definition. There is no standard description of an Embassy because each one performs different functions. However, most Embassies do share certain common characteristics. They are the places to contact for advice and information about the Sending Government and the means by which the Sending Government promotes its interests in the Receiving State.
Inter-government relations between the Sending and Receiving States are conducted through Embassies. Embassies comprise teams of people, usually citizens of the Sending and the Receiving Governments, going about their daily business.
And in their most visible form, Embassies comprise one or more buildings.
