Akane is cursed with a short and explosive temper, deadly cooking, and a slightly boyish figure. She lives with her father and sisters in the Tendou Anything Goes Dojo. She trains there as a martial artist. Also, she is reputed to be the cutest girl at Furiken High School, and suffers no end of torment from the fact. The boys chased her relentlessly, including Tatewake Kuno. Kuno, a master swords man and captain of the school kendo team challenged Akane to date him. So, he made a speech in which he stated that he would allow no one to date Akane who could not defeat her in combat. Because of Kunous' thoughtless statement, Akane has to wade through her attacking admirers each day before school. She then has to defeat Kuno before she can get in the front door. Needless to say, Akane has developed a healthy hatred of all men.
