After the funeral of Peter Bowman, I married Claire in a small private ceremony. Took place last week. Just close friends and family really, seemed to be best under the circumstances. I enjoyed the ceremony immeasurably. I wrote it after all. I'm afraid it was not written here, so you can't take part. Doves were involved, and sparklers. Unfortunately the elephant arrived too late to take part in the actual ceremony, but it did dance a rather good tango with the father of the bride and so tardiness can be forgiven. There is a lot to be said for marrying a fictional character of your own creating. I can, for example, threaten to pull out the typewriter and rewrite her at any time that she becomes annoying. I love Claire very much, of course - she is certainly the Girl for me, but this is a significant point of power in any relationship and can not be ignored. What if I made her fat and ugly to prove the point that cooking is most certainly a women's job? Otherwise she would not be so fat and ugly, you see. I must admit to being somewhat worried though. It appears that some idiot set up the marriage ceremony so that, in effect, we are now one. Does this mean that if I write Claire out of this book
