In a no-gain situation for the Cougar's Tuesday night, Spring took advantage of five Tomball errors and a few missed calls to seal the 3rd place spot in 15-5A. Tomball will play Klein Oak for the district championship Friday night at Klein Oak. If the Coog's win Friday, they will have a one game playoff on Saturday, winner take all. If Tomball loses on Friday, Klein Oak wins the district and Tomball will settle for 2nd. On Tuesday, Doug Frame took the loss, but pitched well enough to win. In the 2nd inning, Spring loaded the bases with 2 out. With two strikes on the hitter, Frame seemingly struck him out on a check-swing to end the inning leading 2-1. But the umpire refused to ask for help, and the pitch was called a ball. Spring scored 3-runs after that to take the lead 4-2. Defensively, the usually sure-handed Cougars played sloppy, surrendering 5 errors on the evening. Due to injuries and failing grades, there are only three position players at their original spot from the starting lineup two weeks ago. Spring clinches the third spot in the race, and is a very strong representative of the district for playoffs.
