Vacancy is one of those "could have been great" movies. It has a fantastic
premise and talented actors. It just falls short on every level.
It's not anywhere near as intense as the trailers would have you believe.
And it just kind of happens. I know that doesn't seem to make sense, but see
the movie and you'll know what it's like to just have a movie "happen" in
your face.
You should all know the set-up, by now, so I won't rehash it, here. It's
worth a matinee or a rental, but don't expect non-stop intensity. Luke and
Kate do very well and it's written nicely.
I'm being super nice, because they tried. But it's so frustrating to see a
great movie buried in mediocrity.
