I advocate the philosophy originated by Ayn Rand. Ayn Rand's philosophy is called Objectivism--and those who support it are called Objectivists. The essence of Objectivism is that reality is an absolute and our job as humans is to comprehend it. By using reason, we can live productive, successful, happy lives--while also allowing others to do the same.
Objectivists believe that if our society is falling short of its potential, it is due to the culture's lack of a rational philosophy. Our freedoms and our values are eroding, while the veneration of non-rational thinking spreads. The solution--Ayn Rand's philosophy of Objectivism.
At my high-school graduation, I gave a valedictory speech focusing on the virtue of self-interest in one's career. Individualism and rational self-interest are the main focal points of the Objectivist ethics.
