The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 and incorporated by an Act of Congress in 1896. The Society reports annually to the U.S. Congress through the Smithsonian Institution. There are more than 170,000 members in 2,950 chapters located in the 50 states and around the world. Our objectives are historical, educational, and patriotic. The DAR Patriot Index contains vital data on approximately 115,000 Patriot ancestors of DAR members.
