Hocking Glass began manufacture of Royal Ruby in the late 1930's, and continued after the merger with Anchor Glass through the late 1960's. These two probably date to the mid-1950's.
Ruby glass gets it's color from a small amount of precious gold added to the glass when it is still molten, and the color goes all the way through the glass, and so Ruby glass is much more durable than the imitation, or stained red glass, in which the red color is just a thin coating on the surface, like a coat of paint.
