| A scene from
the Snow Festival in Sapporo. Giant snow sculptures are everywhere during
early February of each year. |
Don't ask me
how they do it but it is all snow. There are three main sites for snow sculptures
and one for ice sculptures. |

| Sumo from the
national sumo area in Tokyo. There are six tournaments each year; three
are in Tokyo. |
At the Sea
of Okhotsk off the Island of Hokkaido between Japan and Russia. The coldest
place I have ever been. |

| The wodden
Tori gate at the entrance of Miyajima Island near Hiroshima. |
A
giant tori in Kyoto. Toris signify the entrance to Shinto
shrines. |

shoes at a festival in northern Japan. |
A typical toilet.
No kidding. Many of the new houses have western-style toilets now but these
benjos are still quite common, especially in public places. |
