Possessions (Or "What Do I Have in my Pocketses?") |
Let's face it, Toons carry around a lot of junk. Of course, junk can be used in creative ways, so they automatically have to ability to carry as much junk as they want in pockets, or, in game terminology: "Back Pockets". The given rule is that when you design your character, you can start with 8 free items and can carry as many items as you want as long as it doesn't slow down the game. Some Animators might say that you can start with more, or less, but the general rule is 8 with a trick. The trick is that only four of those Possessions can be Unusual, something that is strange even for a Toon to carry around (Anvils, Caged Tazmanian Devils, Fish Bowl with Pirrahna...). The other four will be everyday common items that one might find in a pocket (string, keys, small fire arms and knives, cotton swabs, rubber bands...) or anything that fits in with your Belifs & Goals, Species, or Occupation (Cheese Grater, Carrots, and Whistles). The actual size and weight of something in your Back Pockets should be within reason (automobiles, planets, and people generally are not allowed). However, this rule can be overlooked if the Animator thinks it's funny or has some other well-founded reason. There are special items out there called Gizmos. Gizmos represent... anything and are defined only up to the point when you pull it out of your Back Pocket and say what it is. Each character can start with one Gizmo as an Unusual Possession, if they like. Additional Gizmos can be purchased for 1 Plot Point each. Once the Gizmo becomes that pencil sharpener, bottle rocket, or Kundali Device that you desperately need, it is stuck like that for the rest of the cartoon and resets back to a Gizmo afterwards. The funny thing with Gizmos is that they tend to be Shoddy (they blow up in your face 50% of the time). Using Cream Pie Edition Rules, the only limitation you have (other than weight and size as above) as to which items you start with would be your Funny Munny. The Animator should have a list on hand for the prices of more commonly used items (such as anvils, cream pies, rubber ducks, chainsaws, water balloons, ect.). This rule is mostly in effect if you have a copy of Ace Catelog (to keep players from asking "Why can't I have three Pietonium Bombs? They're not big and I'll take them as Unusual Items. Please, please, please?"), and it also helps when Ace sends them that BILL for all the junk they've been ordering (watch the jaws hitting the floor and other funny takes). |
