Sarbacher (American Scientist) in September 1950 and shared it with UFO researcher Len Stringfield.
Smith said, "I have read Scully's book [Behind the Flying Saucers] and I would like to know how much of it is true."
Sarbacher said, "The facts reported in the book are substantially correct."
"Then flying saucers exist?"
"Yes, they exist."
Therefore it is easy to believe from the above documented statements that a flying saucer crash in New Mexico at Roswell might have been the incident that inspired the reports. Details were wrong, but the overall report was accurate. (2)

When astronauts finally make it to Mars, they might arrive inside a ship protected by a giant bubble of magnetic energy, says National Geographic News.
One of the major hurdles for a human journey to Mars is that it would take months, during which a spaceship and its human occupants would be bombarded with solar radiation that would easily penetrate a metal hull. This radiation can cut through DNA like a knife, causing genetic damage, cancer, and other illnesses. Here on Earth, the planet's magnetic field and our atmosphere protect us from most of the sun's harmful radiation "Life might not have been possible on Earth without a magnetic field as this first line of defense," says British researcher Ruth Bamford. She and a group of scientist came up with the idea of surrounding the spaceship with a "magnetosphere" - a magnetic field a few hundred yards across, which would deflect the radiation. Bamford and her team tested their idea in the lab with a miniature model of a spaceship, and found their invisible deflector shield really could work. It's "like Star Trek coming to life," she says.
Gravity Attracts objects towards each other; antigravity would make them repel each other. How this could work depends on the nature of the objects concerned. Two antiparticles could therefore be drawn together by antigravity, but a particle of matter would be repelled by an antiparticle. Normally they do so in such intimate contact that they immediately annihilate each other, because the force of gravity - and hence of antigravity - is weak over tiny distances when compared to with the strong nuclear force and the electromagnetic force, which pull the particle and the antiparticle inexorably together. On the fringes of a black hole, however, all this could change. The particle of matter is instantly whipped towards the black hole by the huge gravitational tug; the antiparticle is simultaneously repelled, and zips off to become part of the Universe - although probably not for very long, because it will annihilate itself as soon as it encounters another matter particle. The most powerful potential energy source presently thought to be available to humanity, antimatter is a term normally heard in science-fiction films and TV shows, whose heroes fly "antimatter-powered spaceships" and do battle with "antimatter guns."
But antimatter itself isn't fiction; it actually exists and has been intensively studied by physicists since the 1930s. In a sense, matter and antimatter are the yin and yang of reality: Every type of subatomic particle has its antimatter counterpart. But when matter and antimatter collide, they annihilate each other in an immense burst of energy.

Roy applied his experience doing U.S. Air Force-funded plasma research to develop the propulsion system devoid of typical aircraft parts such as propellers and engines. Here is how it works: Electrodes lining the vehicle’s surface ionize the surrounding air. This creates plasma on the vehicle’s exterior. An electrical current sent through this plasma generates a force that not only produces the necessary lift and momentum. It also stabilizes the vehicle in windy conditions.
A simple, portable magnetic field generator inside a spaceship should be sufficient to deflect the dangerous highly charged particles of the solar wind away from a spacecraft and the astronauts inside, according to research in Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion.
