Introduction:
The Corrs, an Irish band which consists of one brother and three
sisters of the Corrs family. They are Jim Corrs, Andrea Corrs, Sharon Corrs and Caroline
Corrs. The Corrs is one of the greatest band I had ever come across to.
They had produced many smash hits which includes So Young,
Runaway, What Can I Do, Haste To The Wedding, Toss The Feathers, I Never Really Love You
Anyway, Only When I Sleep, Breathless, Radio, Rainy Day, Give Me A Reason, No More Cry,
All The Love In The World, Would You be Happier and a lot more. Their album
has been sold up to millions of copies worldwide.
Recently (7 October 2001), they came to Malaysia for a concert, and it
was a great show by the band. The exciting concert was held at Nasional Stadium, Bukit
Jalil. This is their second time performing live in Malaysia after they performed as guest
stars for 16th Commanwealth Games closing ceremony in 1998.
The Corrs released their latest album (October 2001), The Best Of The
Corrs that includes their greatest hits in recent years. It's a worth buy album.
Biography:
The Corrs' big break happened in fairytale-style in 1994 when they cheekily turned up
unannounced at New York's Hit Factory where Grammy-winning producer David Foster was
working on Michael Jackson's HIStory album. Fortune favours the brave and astonishingly,
he granted them an impromptu audition. They were signed more or less on the spot and
Foster took personal charge of producing their first album, Forgiven Not
Forgotten. Released in 1995, it made them international stars, and spawned hits such
as Runaway and The Right Time, earning them Gold or Platinum discs
in 13 countries, including Gold in the US.
Their second album, 1997's Talk On Corners, was partly produced
by Glen Ballard, fresh from his triumph with Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little
Pill. It was to make them one of the biggest groups in the world as further hit
singles followed with Only When I Sleep, Dreams, What Can I
Do and So Young. The album went on to sell millions and went Gold or
Platinum in 24 countries. At one point their first two albums achieved the Beatles-like
feat of occupying the top two places in the UK chart.
As the band toured tirelessly and the world clamoured for a new record, they
satisfied the demand by recording an MTV Unplugged album. Released at the end of last
year, it has already sold two and a half million copies, and is already Gold or Platinum
in 21 countries.
Eventually in 1999 the Corrs went home to Dublin to began work on their third
studio album. On the last record they had employed the services of some famous co-writers
including Carole Bayer Sager, Oliver Leiber and Glen Ballard. In Blue finds
them writing all of the material themselves in different combinations, including three
tracks which Andrea wrote with Mutt Lange, husband and producer of Shania Twain.
Band Members:
Caroline:
Born on St. Patrick's Day, March 17th 1973, Caroline's
birthday is usually a riotous celebration, and she is also the Corr most likely to host a
party...Caroline remains loyal to her Yamaha classic drumkit , but also uses her own
special sticks, complete with Corrs logo, from Vic Firth (size 5b).
Sharon:
Born on March 24th 1970, Sharon has had both the most
traditional musical education, and the most 'normal' jobs. A strong member of both youth
and adult orchestras, in addition she has been a retail manager as well as performing in a
traditional folk duo with Jim. Sharon was the first Corr to become a millionaire, having
received a 1,000,000 Turkish pound note from a friend.
Andrea:
Born on 17th May 1974, Andrea, chose music over university.
Having played Sharon Rabbitte in The Commitments, and Juan Peron's mistress in Evita, and
she remains the Corr most likely to have a parallel career in films. She is also most
likely to be reading a book, possibly Salman Rushdie or Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and is an
avid film buff
Jim:
Born on 31st July 1968, Jim's whole working life has been
spent in music. He is a proficient guitarist and keyboard player, with a particular
understanding of digital programming. Having toured with Irish artists such as Dolores
Keane, he formed various groups, including 'Chip', before The Corrs. When not with The
Corrs, Jim is most likely to be found on the world's Grand Prix circuits. |
