91st TORONTO CUB PACKNEWSLETTERTuesday, October 4th, 2005 NEW START TIME: Just a reminder to all that our regular meeting start time has been changed to 6:30pm. The meeting will end at 8:00pm. This new time should remain in effect for the rest of the Cub year. If there is another change, we will try to advise you as soon as possible. SCOUTS CANADA APPLE DAY: Saturday, October 15th. This years Apple Day fundraiser is already fast approaching and preliminary preparations are well under way. The effort this year will be co-ordinated from Scouter Warner’s house (driveway) at 22 Wrenson Rd. Sign-in and Apple Pick Up will start at 9:00am. We like to try and spread the effort out over 2 or 3 hrs so if you can’t make it at 9:00am, please drop by sometime between 9:00am and noon. Attached to this newsletter you will find a bit more information about the event. FALL CAMP: Friday, October 21st to Sunday, October 23rd. We have booked a cabin at Camp Everton in Acton (near Guelph). This is a Scout Campground run by the Waterloo Region Scouting Group. Our camp weekend is a joint effort combining all 3 sections of the 91st – Scouts, Cubs & Beavers. Due to the overwhelming number of participants this year, it looks like most of the Cubs will be sleeping in tents at the cabin site. Please keep this in mind when packing clothing, etc. for the weekend. We will join the Beavers indoors for meals and some of our group activities. Please Note: There are no indoor washroom facilities. Permission forms and fitness forms are attached to this newsletter. Please return forms and payment no later than Tuesday, October 18th. The cost to you for this camping weekend will be $30.00 per Cub. If paying by cheque, please make cheques payable to 91st Toronto Cubs. Directions to the campground and a ‘what to bring’ list will be available on the next newsletter. INVESTITURE: Tuesday, November 1st. At Bowmore. This is the night when our new Cubs receive their 91st “colours” and Cub insignia badges for their shirts. If all goes according to plan, this will also be the night where we announce the Sixers and Seconds and assign Six colours to our Sixes. Families are welcome to attend this important ceremony (bring your cameras). Light refreshments will be provided. The 91st Beaver Colony will be joining us as they invest their first-year Beavers. NEW WEBSITE: The 91st Scout Group has a new website this year. The site is being maintained by Norma Thompson (Rusty) who is one our Beaver leaders. Each section has their own site. The address for the Cub Pack is www.oocities.org/toronto_cubs. Some of the things you will be able to access on the site include an event calendar and information regarding badges, etc. Please check it out when you have a chance. More information will be added as the year progresses.
