91st TORONTO CUB PACKNEWSLETTERTuesday, November 8th, 2005 BADGE WORK AT TORONTO ZOO: Sunday, November 27th . 1:00 pm–3:30 pm. This is something new that we are trying this year. We will spend the afternoon at the Toronto Zoo, during which time the Cubs will earn their World Conservation badge. Instruction will be provided by staff at the Zoo. The cost for this educational adventure is $15.00/Cub and $8.00/ adults. If your family has a Zoo membership then the cost is $9.00/Cub and free for adults (you must bring proof of your Zoo membership on the day of the trip). As always, please make cheques payable to 91st Toronto Cubs. Deadline for payment is Tuesday, November 22nd. There is no “permission form” per se for this trip, although there will be a consent form to be signed by a parent. It will be available at the Cub meetings. If there is enough interest, we may meet at the Zoo earlier than 1:00 pm and do a little touring on our own. If this happens, we must enter the Zoo as a group and there are certain pavilions the staff would like us to avoid since we will be going there during the program. We will take a poll and see if there is any interest in going earlier than 1:00 pm. CHRISTMAS TREE SALES: This is our biggest fundraising event for the year and the one event where ask for lots of volunteers. The trees are being delivered sometime during the first week of December and the tree yard is then open every evening and weekend until the last weekend before Christmas or until we sell out, whichever comes first. Our tree yard is located at the Grant African Methodist Episcopal Church at 2029 Gerrard St. East (just east of Woodbine). Sometime over the next month or so, someone from Group Committee will be calling to see if you might be able to volunteer some time to help sell trees. We will also need volunteers to help unload the trees when they arrive at the yard. We will keep you posted on the arrival date. ANNUAL 91ST TORONTO CHRISTMAS PARTY: Tuesday, December 13th. At Glen Rhodes Church. Start time will probably be 6:30pm. Further details on this will be available later. WINTER CAMP: Friday, Jan. 6th – Sunday, Jan. 8th, 2006. At Woodland Trails Campground in Aurora. A joint camp with the 91st Beaver Colony. Due to space limitations, we will have room for a maximum of 12 Cubs, so the sign-up for this camp will be a first come, first served basis. Until we have a better idea of numbers, we are not sure how many parents we will be able to accommodate, if any. The deadline for returning forms, etc. will be Tuesday, December 20th. Further details will be available in a future newsletter. The cost for this camp will be $30 for Cubs, $40 for any adult attendees. As always, please make cheques payable to 91st Toronto Cubs.
