Toronto Region ODSP Action Coalition
As mentioned there was a mayoral candidates' forum on Friday evening in downtown Toronto, for the purpose of discussing disability-related issues with the candidates. Unfortunately only Councillor Jane Pitfield showed up, to meet members of the community and answer questions.  Pitfield discussed not only physical barriers, but also the attitudinal and systemic barriers that people with disabilities face every day in Toronto. We have one or two more pictures in the queue and a small video clip (842k, WMV) has been posted.  See also minor notes on video clips.
If you have any questions about the above forum or any  other  meetings, please call Catherine Manson at Flemingdon Legal Services,  416-441-1764, extension 31 or send e-mail to torontodisabilityaction@yahoo.ca

After a delay (while the crowd waited for David Miller?) the event got going at about
7:30 p.m. and lasted until perhaps 9:30 p.m.  The Scadding Court Community Centre, 707 Dundas St. W. is a modern facility near Bathurst, on the south side of Dundas, next
to the public library, and more or less opposite Toronto Western Hospital.

The event was supposed to be fully accessible, with sign language interpreting, real time captioning, deaf blind intervening services and attendant services, etc.
The event  flyer was downloadable from the Canadian Hearing Society web page. (PDF file)
