TRICKS STANDING HIGH

a good finish positionas in 'sleep'
Tory loves to throw in a roll over before dying.
Let your dog improvise, if you want to learn more tricks.

High Five

This is a Tory high five.
He can perform it from a sit pretty, but we like this stand high version best.
It is really only a wave combined with a touch command, pretty simple stuff.

Stand High

Stand high and hop is good, but we only ask for two hops.
Hop from a normal standing position is a common trick in competition to make your dog look enthusiastic. Showmanship never hurts.

and wave

We recently watched a program where the trainer took a Russian Wolfhound, not a particularly bright dog, and taught it some pretty amazing tricks. He spent four hours a day, each and every day, working this dog. Professional, yes, driven, yes, fun, we don't think so.
We like our 30 minutes a day per. As the commercials said, tricks are for kids - fun, fun, fun, and more fun.
People, generally feel, that being out of sorts, or exhausted, are conditions when it is best to skip training. We believe that when folks feel 'down', it is a good time to work tricks that the dogs do well,
a good time to be generous with the rewards, particularly, the praise.
Sometimes
it helps take our minds off how we feel.
When
we don't work our companions, more often than not, it makes them
'out of sorts'.
